In the long run, I think it'd hurt them more then help.

Most teenagers or adults would probably avoid a "childish" game like pokemon, and most of it's fans are kids. Then, you've got the older fans, and some of us, like myself, prefer the childish feeling of the game. In the end, I don't think this hypothetical game will make all that much money either, or at least not as much as another E rated one....You're trying to be funny, right? Not to be rude, but I personally have difficulty telling sometimes...
Well the first part with violence and breeding was half serious. It's not impossible for it to exist, but it would go against everything that makes Pokemon what it is so I don't see it happening ever.

As for the game corner, it was sarcasm. It's just annoying to me because the children of those parents complaining about it are probably out there right now playing COD/Halo or doing actual bad things. I have family like that haha

The casino/gambling wasn't taken out do to "parent's complaining." It is because the European version of the ratings board that does video games was going to give them the equivalent of "PG". That's why Game Corner was only taken out in European release, completely replaced by Voltorb Flip in international versions of HGSS, and completely gone in gen 5.

It only looks like ice cream. It's really a mutated icicle that cloaks itself in snow. The resemblance is supposed to be mere coincidence (although the Vanillite line is presumably the in-universe inspiration for ice cream in the Pokemon world, since Casteliacones are based off of it and not the other way around).

I still play PKMN no matter how rating it is, but now its weird that they mention that someone dies in the game or the PKMN eat people...that's like really weird o.o Plus i hardly played the gambling thing so I don't really care for the PG thing, nya~

You're most likely refer to the darker story plot I bet. True. The beginning of 3rd Generation would be where dark plots are being represented that raises issues (even in the earlier gens as well, though there aren't a lot analyzing it excluding the older players)

    Latest introduced chapter:
Feli Chronicles Vitandes - Chapter 30: Veins of Flames
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Forgotten Life - Chapter 3: Hurricane of Foreshadowing

The PMD games are easily the darkest entries in the franchise, though that's still not saying much.

Default Friend Code Team-builder GAME :D

Look at your friend code and find out what pokemon team combination it reveals fun game to play, you could even let it determine a scramble challenge for you. If you have a left over spot that can be for your starter or a shiny if you catch one in your game. Here's how it works, my black 2 friend code is:

    2280 4524 3551

    I converted it to:

    228 - Houndour

    045 - Vileplume

    243 - Raikou

    551 - Sandile

with two spots remaining. If you have a 3 digit number over 649 eg 744 you just use 74 = geodude and then 4 is the start of the next number or if the end of ur friend code it would be charmander. Also if you have a zero at the beginning of ur friend code or after a group of three numbers which go together it would be a pokemon number under 100 eg 025 pikachu

What's your friend code number team? have fun

We've had thread like this before. Maybe not by you, but BCVM, Randomspot and I have all experienced this exact same topic before. So there is a good possibility it will be shut.

The CERO, ESRB and Pegi rating systems are like the Movie ratings but for games.. actually in the UK several games have the UK movie rating. (They generally have clear reason to get that rating.) Like the Movie ratings it restricts the sale to "underage" customers. (The Pegi and UK Movie ratings are age based.)

Game companies don't pick the rating for their games, except for in cases where they are aiming to get a certain rating. Since Pegi actually only started rating during the GBA/Gamcube life cycle, almost all the games I can find are PEGI 3+ (= ESRB E), the issue with Platinum's "game machines" would force the game to be rated as a PEGI 12+, where in this case it's a ESRB T. Most Pokémon games are sold to the 7 to 15 Market and as a result parents won't buy it as there would be a orange "sticker" saying "Warning! Maybe unsuitable for Minors." (Yes, I know the colour Stickers didn't get introduced until after Platinum was released, but the point remains.)

The only Pokémon Related game I can find that is high is actually Smash Bros games. But then it is a fighting game and aimed for the older audience also.

As Someone who's been buying video games for over 10 years and they do include the UK most serious rating the "18+". I've found a PEGI 12 game that more "darker" than most of my 15, 16 and 18 games, Pandora's Tower. (That is one game that does take while to digest, before you can really start playing it. Sorry bad joke, sadly lost on those who are in the US who can't buy it.)

I can see Nintendo losing money in future years, we're living in a generation where kids are growing up on COD rather than Gameboys. In order to attract an entire fanbase of a franchise they could make certain franchsies a little darker with spin off games. I never said a main series game would get a T or M rating I was giving examples of the darker story line from BW/BW2. Colosseum/XD was my huge example. They could easily make a game like this rated at least T. Parents will still buy the games a lot of parents bought their children black ops 2 when it came out last month. E rated titles for the main series are fine but personally I wouldn't mind even a spin off game for Wii U with a darker plot

    Cool idea!
For my White FC the team would be:
    133 - Eevee (yay!)
    553 - Krookodile
    615 - Cryogonal
    411 - Bastiodon

    And for White 2:
    374 - Beldum
    075 - Graveler
    68 - Machamp
    079 - Slowpoke (lol)
    6 - Charizard

I want to do this for my Diamond and SoulSilver FCs too but I don't have them to hand.

FPS and violent video games are not something new. Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, and Doom have been around since the early 90s.

Fortunately, there are still consoles and games that cater to the people who want to play something other than or in addition to Call of Duty.

Don't fix what isn't broken. Those people who aren't playing Pokemon now aren't going to play it because some horrid spin-off game is "a little bit darker".

Oh, I see. It is a personal problem.

With all due respect, why don't you just go ahead and play these darker games rather than hoping for the dream that Pokemon will become something it never was and never intended to be?

Hmm... okay, I'll give this a go!

    White team:
    223: Remoraid
    67: Machoke
    274: Nuzleaf
    75: Graveler
    88: Grimer

A surprisingly balanced team, but all the same that would be a really hard one to work with.

    White2 team:
    039: Jigglypuff
    066: Machop
    386: Deoxys
    81: Magnemite
    7: Squirtle

And I thought the White team would be hard to work with. At least this one has Deoxys though. xD

Will there be some Pokémon video games, which are rated EC for Early Childhood by the ESRB?

Just in regards to that last one I don't know how many people here are Star Trek fans like me but the series DS9 was criticised by a select few who believed it didn't follow Gene Roddenberry's vision (which it didn't) but instead it became something so much more than that and a result was one of the most beloved series of all time.

There is nothing wrong with Nintendo experimenting with the pokemon formula and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness & Pokemon Colosseum had alot of promise it was so dark, Black and White proved itself by adding philosophical elements to the game plot which as a result managed to recapture it's older audience while their sequels capitalised on the gameplay itself and to be fair Pokemon has had darkness within it since its origin if you recall Mewtwo's backstory with Amber and Jessie's mother.

It's not up to the fans to decide what the games are about it's up to Nintendo. All you need to do is enjoy it or not. As for the ratings I think many will find the reason for that is because the more people can buy it the more money Nintendo can make.

There's a difference. From what you're saying, a Star Trek series significantly departed from the formula and made it less like Star Trek, hence the criticism. In this case, we have a guy who wants Pokemon to become something it never was and never intended to be. The additional elements to plot as seen in Gen 5 with some philosophical bent is completely irrelevant to making something that would cause Pokemon to get a T or M rating.

There seems to be a misconception that ratings for movies and other media are based on "maturity", like an 8 year old wouldn't pick up the meaning of the messages that are contained in the plots of Platinum or BW. And maybe that's true, but the 8 year old still can play and fully enjoy the game.

The ratings look out for factors such as:
    1. gore
    2. excessive violence
    3. sexual content
    4. tobacco, alcohol, drug use
    5. the "isms" and phobias such as racism, sexism, homophobia, etc...
    6. cursing and other strong language, especially when directed at a sort of minority group.
    7. and other stuff that violates societal norms, such as bullying. Usually a villain can get away with it but a hero or protagonist cant

You can produce a great movie or video game or TV show with a good message and your rating will still be the "E" or "G" rating. It is only when you start slipping in visible content that you start strattling the line between "G" and "PG". And at this point, there already is a lot of suggestive content in Pokemon games. Sure, a lot of it gets eaten up in localization, but not all (just go to the Ferris Wheel).

Looking at that list, the first four have never been a core part of Pokemon. Ever. Period. Remember, Satoshi Tajiri really specifically wanted to make Pokemon "faint" rather than "die" or "lose a life" because he thought that aspect of video games degrades life itself and makes us as humans respect it less. The anime and games typically go to great lengths to show that Pokemon battles are typically non-lethal and that 99.99% of the time, a Pokemon acting "evil" is usually because it is being mind controlled by some evil dude.

Even societal norms such as bullying and stealing can sneak in as long as it is done correctly. Silver, for example, never steals anything "on camera" and he later reforms his character. The newest rival has rage issues, but it is a plot point and he grows as a person in the story.

Can Pokemon push more boundaries with plots? Sure. That'd be great. The good thing about stories like Pokemon is there are layers everyone of any age group can take from. But that has nothing to do with a "higher" rating. Anyone advocating for a "higher" rating is pretty much asking for Pokemon to become their personal slash-fic/FPS or whatever, and in that case, they're better suited playing something else they'll enjoy rather than hoping for something that'll never come and was never intended to be.

Bulbasaur is most frequently depicted as his Starter Pokemon in early promotional material, although in-game it was presumably his Pikachu, since it is his ace Pokemon in GSCHGSS.

Bulbasaur! The manga shows that he was teaching kids about catching Pokemon w/ a Nidoran (Male) and they said Oak might teach him bout battling...
He thinks red is a thief, they have to collect all the pokes, the last one is an angry machoke, red tells bulbasaur to use solarbeam and bla bla bla his first starter is bulbasaur...

    tho...

before his adventure in the manga, he already has a pokemon...
    what was it?

The thing that irks me is when people say "But Halo" or "COD" or whatever the popular FPS is nowadays, they say it in a way as if FPS is a brand new genre of gaming experiencing mega-success. FPS have been around since the early 1970s, and were some of the first majorly successful games on personal computers. Still to this day, die hard fans of Duke Nukem, Quake, and Doom are home-making their own, special levels and worlds based on the original engines from the early 90s. And I would know. I was a very casual Gen I Pokemon fan, only playing friends' copies or renting Pokemon Stadium. But I grew up on playing Doom, Wolfeinstein 3d, and Quake.

FPS have been around for a long time, and so has JRPGs. They'll continue to both have success simultaneously, and the success of one is not a threat to the other. They're completely different types of games that people play for completely different reasons.
