You're acting like once Virgil beats Ash, the episode will end. There is still the closing ceremony to go! There is still the montage of the final 2 battling! There is still Iris and Cilan commenting on the battle! Add that all in and that takes time as well. If the writers wanted Ash and Virgil to battle, then they should have gotten rid of that Axew filler. Do you honestly think the writers were sitting at their desks saying, "Gee. You know a battle with the Eeveelutions and Ash would be really cool. It can take a whole episode and we could really show the audience all the battle styles of the Eeveelutions.... NAH! Let's throw in an Axew filler where Axew chases a balloon instead! Ash vs Virgil can take 8 minutes as far as we're concerned." I really doubt the writers were thinking that way. They probably never planned for Ash to battle Virgil in the first place.

Except we arent the writers... And since you know just as much information about this episode as everyone else (I think... O_O) you dont know what the writers want to do with this episode and the whole Axew chasing a balloon thing is a poor argument because the episode as a whole was about the trainers relaxing instead of us seeing them battle non-stop because BW wanted to make the league seem a bit more realistic than Ash and co. not caring about their friends who they never have fun without for real. Thats like saying that they should have wasted the perfect chance for Virgil to show of his three main partners skills because their is a chance that he could battle Ash and like the other league rivals who are similar to him they wanted to portray him as strong as possible by defeating some Trubbish and a Garbordor, but yeah lets ignore this obvious sign and just look at it as Virgil was put into that scenario for no reason and he will just battle Kotesu -_- And once again, you do not know how long the battle will go on for and since this is BW it could take less than 5 minuets... Assuming something based off a title will make you sadly mistaken.

They showed Ash and Morrison bond in an awesome montage with You And Me And Pokémon and still had 1 prelim, 2 doubles , and 3 full battles and a fair loss. Axew had nothing to do with anything.

I'm sorry but I watch the League for the battles, not to see what people do on their breaks. So if I had a choice between seeing a full episode where Ash and Virgil battle or an episode where we see Ash and the gang take a break from the League, I'd choose the former in heartbeat and I think everyone else would as well. I am not guessing based on the title alone. I am guessing based on how much time they have to fit everything in and if Ash vs Virgil is 5 minutes, I would rather it not happen at all. But I don't really care about this League anymore. They screwed it up when Trip lost so I don't really care what happens anymore. I want Episode N to come.
