Do you consider the "N arc" to be a second saga for Iris/Cilan?

As we know the gang is still staying in Unova for the next arc. But even so, do you consider it a "Second" arc for Iris/Cilan, much like how Misty/Brock stayed for multiple arcs?

Think of it this way:

- Misty (3 regions, Kanto/Orange/Johto)
- Brock (5 regions, Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Kanto BF/Sinnoh)
- Tracey (1 region, Orange)
- May and Max (2 regions, Hoenn, Kanto BF)
- Dawn (1 region, Sinnoh)
- Iris and Cilan (2 regions, Unova and Eastern Unova)


So have Iris and Cilan been the first characters since Misty/Brock to stay for a second arc?

Well if you count Best Wishes Season 2, then Iris and Cilan have already lasted as long as Misty/Brock did in terms of 3 arcs.

I guess Iris and Cilan really did get to stay for 3 separate sagas after all.

I don't actually consider best wishes 2 or the "N" series as new arcs, it's just the anime constantly changing names to stop the ratings from dropping.

A story arc is an extended or continuing storyline in episodic storytelling media such as television, comic books, comic strips, boardgames, video games, and in some cases, films.

No because Eastern Unova is still part of Unova. They have only been travelling for one region.

Best wishes season 2 Episode N is NOT an arc.

So yeah, BWS2 is considered their second arc to me.

1 region yes, but the number of I guess "arcs" depends on if Ash is chasing another goal again. For example I do count the Orange Islands and Kanto Battle Frontier as separate quests since Ash had a new goal of collecting badges and symbols respectively. So if Ash has another quest like that then yes I would consider them being 2 arcs, if not then it's just an addition to the Unova quest.

I considered Unova and eastern unova as one series; that's how i see each region you posted; a series/saga. I just thought Japan was actually doing something we normally count as "Seasons" and nothing more.

Arcs are just something within the series; like the tournaments. But if everything is happening in Unova, then I can't see it as multiple series/regions.

Well it depeneds on the region they are in. Since they are still in Unova I only consider it one.

But what does it matter anyway? As soon as this crap is almost over they will probably be gone anyway. It's not like either of them are really doing anything. I'm also more interested in N then them right now.

It is a new arc becasue there is a new,primary focus. Arc 1: best wishes 1 primary focus: get all 8 badges. Arc 2: best wishes 2 : primary focus: junior cup and unova league. Arc 3: Episode N primary focus: explore the rest of unova and stop team plasma so there are 3 arcs
