Default Strong Strategy Steals the Show! (767)

    Sawk Enters! Ash VS Stephan!!

It's time for the next round of the Unova League. Having participated in competitions before, it's time for the final battle between Ash and Stephan within the Unova League. With Stephan using Liepard, Zebstrika and Sawk, Ash faces a massive challenge. While Palpitoad can fend off Zebstrika's attacks with great ease, Ash ends up having to use Krookodile against Stephan's Sawk, being at a complete type disadvantage. Will Ash and Krookodile be able to overcome the type advantage and get to the next round of the Unova League?

Second to last episode of the year!!! And more importantly, one of the more anticipated league battles!

Ash vs Stephan - The Rematch
    - Ash: Krookodile, Palpitoad, Leavanny
    - Stephan: Liepard, Zebstrika, Sawk

I'm going to skip covering the unimportant parts such as Cilan, Iris and Bianca talk when it's not important..

    Episode starts
    - Review of the league, at least Scraggy's matchup.
    - Pokemon get called forth again.
    Opening
    - The battle starts straight away! Krookodile vs. Liepard
    - Takemitsu is excited...
    - Shadow Claw vs. Dragon Claw, no clear winner
    - Shadow Ball vs. Stone Edge, no clear winner.
    - Hyper Beam, dodged by Dig.
    - Double Team around Krookodile..
    - Krookodile is lost, and Shadow Claw hits this time.
    - Shadow Ball hits as well.
    - Streambreak...
    - Double Team
    - Hyper Beam hits
    - Dragon Claw vs. Shadow Claw..
    - Both are very hurt..
    - Another Dragon Claw vs. Shadow Claw, Liepard faints..
    - Zebstrika vs. Krookodile: Switch
    - Palpitoad vs. Zebstrika
    - Take Down..
    - Mud Shot gets dodged, and Palpitoad is hit.
    - Stomp, but Palpitoad dodges, I think.
    - Sludge Wave! Awesome!!!! :P
    - Zebstrika used Flame Charge, or something similar, but it was a short burst.
    - Palpitoad flew into a wall!
    - Zebstrika does the same attack, but is hit with Supersonic.
    - Zebstrika hits the wall continuously!
    - Stephan is stressed!
    - Here comes Hydro Pump!
    - Zebstrika still stands!!!
    - Giga Impact!
    - Palpitoad uses Mud Shot again after being hit!
    - OMG! A tie!
    - Sawk vs... Ash dexes Sawk...
    - Sawk vs. Leavanny, not good..
    Dare Da: Krookodile...
    - Bulk Up
    - String Shot
    - Close Combat, is dodged!
    - Cut, or X-scissor is used, and Sawk feels the hurt.
    - Karate Chop is dodged as well!
    - Low Kick is dodged as well!
    - Razor Leaf!
    - Energy Ball!
    - Sawk is down, but gets up again!
    - Xscissor/Cut again, but is blocked and Close Combat is used on it to hurt.
    - Leavanny is down, but Swarm kicks in!
    - Cut/X-scissor is used again, but blocked
    - Bulk Up, followed by String Shot again..
    - Again with the Xscissor/Cut, but this time it's dodged Sawk.
    - Sawk used the Cuts in order cut free from the bind.
    - Razor Leaf, vs. Karate Chop.
    - Karate Chop knocks Leavanny out.
    - Sawk vs. Krookodile
    - Luckily, they are both tired.
    - Close Combat vs. Dragon Claw, hurts Krookodile the most.
    - Karate Chop vs. Aerial Ace, Sawk misses, but here comes Krookodile with the lariat! :P
    - Sawk is down, and out.. -.-
    - Wow.. That was really, really, really short..
    - Ash wins.
    - Congratulations across..
    - Umbreon beats a Gothitelle..
    - Gigalith sighting.. vs. Riolu.. I guess no evolution for either Palpitoad or Boldore..
    - Streambreak...
    - Here's a dinner scene.
    - Bianca without hat is oddlooking..
    - Here's the obligatory 'I'm going to fight you again'-statement..
    - An Iris scene with Cilan, where's Ash???
    - Ash is in the stadium alone.. Kotetsu is camping in the stadium -.-
    - Its the obvious Ash vs. Ritchie rematch scene... Oh wait.. Katherine is still in.
    - Ash vs. Kotetsu begins, Hydreigon is the first out.
    - End of episode...

Well.. Krookodile could only win because Leavanny did all the hefty damage first.

Ash vs. Kotetsu beginning with Hydreigon is my worst fear.. Boldore is going to fall. Pignite is going to take it out. Leavanny didn't beat Sawk, while it did all the work...

To Sushi.. I make these posts in a single post because when I didn't have access to watch the episodes live, I always liked it when somebody gave the most indepth details possible, so I could read along with the pictures, which sometime miss stuff..

Liepard comes out and now so does Krookodile.

Iris, Cilan and Bianca are cheering Ash on.

    *Opening*

    Freddy O Martain is excited.

    The battle starts.

    Krookodile used Dig.

Liepard used Stone Edge and Liepard used Double Team Again.

    Krookodile used Dig.

    And another Hyper Beam.

Dragon Claw and Shadow Claw again. And Again.

    Liepard is knocked out.

Cool. I like how Krookodile got a win right off the bat and now Palpitoad is out. Sweet.

I hope he learns a new move.

Sludge Wave. New move? SWEET! Kind annoyed that Palpitoad was knocked back into the wall.

Supersonic makes its return and Zebstrika is confused? I love this battle!

Giga Impact for Zebstrika? So the PWT was right and I'm annoyed that it has that move.

The battle is a tie? I DID NOT WANT THIS!

    Dare Da? Krookoodile.

Does this mean Leavanny will lose? I wanted him to finish Sawk off. Guess you can't always get what you want.

Clauncher: What? I can understand the old man's senility, but this is just annoying.

Bonnie: Come on, Dedenne! I want that Gym Badge!
Clauncher: If only this wasn't a kids show.

Looks like it's Liepard vs Krookodile first up.

And Liepard is down! Next up is Zebstrika! And Ash Dexes it...didn't he do this before?

Look who's back! Palpitoad! This is it's Best Wishes 2 debut too!

    Hey new move! Sludge Wave!

Looks like a Double KO! And now Sawk and Leavanny are out!

    Dare da Krookodile!

X-Scissor! Finally Leavanny has some better moves!

    Hey Swarm has activated!

Liepard looks really sweet in action.

Enter Palpitoad, long time no see.

    What move was that?

    Never mind, Sludge Wave.

His Zebstika has gotten much more resilient.

    Ends in a draw.

I love seeing Leavanny, I don't know, it actually seems like such a good match for Sawk.

I actually don't see the issue with scanning Pokemon with the Pokedex more then once. It has more then one bit of info to give to the trainer.

Leavanny is so quick to dodge, looks effortless.

Poor Leavanny, good chop to the head.

I'm glad saved that move for the final match-up, more of a surprise for Stephan.

I'm glad saved that move for the final match-up, more of a surprise for Stephan.

And there was the Gigalith, a random trainers...

Kotetsu is camping in the arena, probably so he won't be late for his match, lol.

    Kotetsu will start with Hydreigon.

Pokemon X Friend Code: 5258-0130-4229 / Electric: Dedenne, Pikachu, Zebstrika

This is just my opinion, if you don't support the main character of the show, why bother watching.

It's a shame that a good battle such as this is being ruined by terrible music.

How many times do they want to cut to the announcer or cilan and iris?

This is just another club battle.

I think that recent scene really show's how weak ash's team is.

    Sludge Wave? ...Shocking.

I loved that dodging from Leavanny though. I think Bianca commented on Leavanny's speed.

    Leavanny's move was Scissor Cross.

    More dodging.

The attack was actually Swarm. I like that it finally debuted.

So Leavanny loses still? I find that as quite the bummer.

That move was in fact Aerial Ace? So all of Ash's Pokemon get a new move. I guess Leavanny's lose could be redeemed.

Wait, that wasn't Aerial Ace was it?

    Well, Ash won.

Kotetsu has a Gigalith, or he faced one I think.

    Kotetsu vs Ash starts here.

Hydreigon is his first choice after all? Huh?

I liked Ash's look when he was about to command Aerial Ace. I am glad it was the finishing move.

Perhaps this is the first time Ash actually strategized a bit and won since Best Wishes began.

Palpitaod cs Zebstrika was a bit of a bummer but it was still good. Sludge Wave, who would have thought! (Not me at least)

A good battle I must say. They did well.

I think this is the first time in the anime that even-though a pokemon activated its ability, still ended up losing immediately.

Also it seems the move which Krookodile dropped turned out to be Crunch. I really hope now that the writers really make Krookodile similar to Cilan's Pansage.

    Nice animation for Sludge Wave,

Added a few corrections to your post and few comments

Kotetsu is really giving the Ritchie vibe now

I think they did a good job by putting Krookodile vs Sawk Short. If it were any longer, it would be unnatural like Medicham vs Snorlax in BF/ And we could call DEM.

I think this is the first time in the anime that even-though a pokemon activated its ability, still ended up losing immediately.
Think it's the first time for the " boost when you're down " abilities (Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow/Swarm). A few Pokemon lost with other abilities last region.

I guess similar to Ash and Paul's Lake battle this is to show us that an Ability Pull won't always equal a win.

    Nice animation for Sludge Wave,

Nope, happened quite a few times before.. And Leavanny didn't lose immediately. Eitherway, she did most of the work against Sawk.

    Krookodile:
    - Stone Edge
    - Dig
    - Dragon Claw
    - Aerial Ace
    Leavanny:
    - String Shot
    - Razor Leaf
    - Energy Ball
    - X-scissor
    Palpitoad:
    - Mud Shot
    - Hydro Pump
    - Supersonic
    - Sludge Wave
    Pignite:
    - Flame Charge
    - Fire Pledge
    - Flamethrower
    - New Fighting-type move?

They could just troll us all, and have Katherine win the league.. :P Eitherway, we know that everybody left aside from Kotetsu and Virgil are slight pushovers..
    - Ramone: Beaten by Dawn's Piplup
    - Dino: Beaten by Palpitoad once.
    - Antonio: Beaten by Dino once.
    - Katherine: Beaten by Ash once.
    - Itomaru: Don't see him winning against Virgil..

I can't remember correctly if Flora was Virgil's opponent, if so, then her Gothorita has evolved.

At last Palpitoad's Supersonic really caused a long term confusion status. All the other times it hadn't been able to cause any confusion (but it did block the opponents moments).

Stupid writers not giving Leavanny a win when Pikachu gets three. Thet really are a bunch of vicious morons.

Advice to the writers for the 6th Gen:
    1. Give a fair distribution of screentime and battles- No Pika-Hogging.
    2. Give Ash as many Pokemon as you will bother with, and no more.
    3. Evolution is nothing to be scared of. Especially evolve Starters, please!
