I like your mantis idea. I think it could be based of an Orchid mantis and could be pure Bug. It could have camouflage as a move or possibly color change as an ability. I think it could be really cool. I also want a Platypus Pokémon. ( I heard someone say that Psyduck is one and I proceeded to face palm I think it could be Water/Poison ( they have a venomous barb on one of their legs).

A mantis with Color Change would be cool. Alternatively it could be a Bug/Fighting, but I like the Color Change idea better 8D

The Snover line are trees, with some yeti attributes. I want an actual snowman.
Also, I think Sceptile is based on a basilisk lizard.

It would be really interesting to see a Goliath Beetle. Those are some huge beetles, look it up.

Mightyena is a hyena, or at least mostly hyena (most likely a mix of the Spotted and Striped Hyenas). While hyenas are close to cats phylogenetically and similar to dogs morphologically and behaviorally, they are neither. Hyaenidae is its own family. It is in the suborder Feliformia, but that just means "cat-like". In addition to cats and hyenas, Feliformia includes Malagasy carnivorans, meerkats, mongooses, and binturongs (which would make a good animal to base a pokemon off of!). In short, Hyenas are not cats nor dogs, but their own thing.

And Houndoom is based on a Doberman.

I think Zigzagoon is the closest we have to a racoon and it could possibly be based on the Racoon dog.

I would like to see a full line of domesticated sheep. I know we had Mareep, Flaafy and Ampharos but the latter was a very cool Pokemon but more marsupial like than sheep like. I could imagine it have two final evolutions, a ram with big horns and a ewe with long wool. What do you guys think?

The Shinx line are more Lynx (My favorite animal) than Lion looking. Yes, while Luxray looks more mighty and lion like, Shinx was still made to be a Lynx.

I'm pretty sure Sceptile is just a Gecko. Basilisk Lizards can run on water and swim, so I can see it being Water types as well as Normal.

And a Dolphin pokemon would be cool too.

Doesn't Entei count as a lion as well? The three legendary beasts look just like a lion, tiger and wolf to me. I'm surprised that some people said that lions aren't used yet, and even more surprised that no one mentions Entei as one.

That's what fans refer to them as. Their Japanese term literally translates to "The legendary three sacred beasts", and Bulbapedia's English page lists them as Legendary Beasts as well.
