Oh, and on the subject of Froakie, at least now we got a more "clear" shot of his attack. I think I can say it pretty confidently that his first attack is only a Water Gun type thing, and not an Ice type attack. At least we got that outta the way. But we still have no idea of what Fennekin's second attack was, though...

If what you're saying that Froakie's attack is a basic water gun, then we can assume that Fennekin's attack is also basic... Maybe growl.

I think fennekin would be great as a strictly female pokemon, that is fire/grass that may sound wierd but volcarona is a great widely used pokemon and it's bug fire. With this match it would be great for the metagame. Also hidden ability drought. Powers up fire types, STAB on solarbeam. Able to learn psychic(possibly). Add in a kick-*** fighting move(without making it fighting) and you have a huge new competitor to OU.

I like the previously suggested idea that they go to African mythology for Fennekin, I'm just not sure what could be used.

Maybe. But, it's really difficult to say with relatively sure what that was... Still curious, though! Damn you GameFreak! You really know how to keep us on our toes!

Unfortunately, we might only know that on the release date. GameFreak is playing their cards really well on this generation. Always giving information, but not enough to actually stop the speculation. Good job, GF. Good job!

Okay I just saw that they released that they will be pure Grass, Fire and Water respectively. Hopefully they aren't talking about the full evolution lines.

I hope not either. Not that it would be a horrible thing, since I made it through G/S/C/HG/SS with one. But, I'd like if they were dual typed though.

They aren't, just the base forms.

I wouldn't be too miffed if they were pure types. It would be a bit boring yes, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker. As long as they have a wide movepool and stay cool-looking, I won't care what their typing is.

I know right? That's kinda one of the reasons the Johto starters are my least favorite overall. But a pure Fire-Type starter is better than another Fire/Fighting-Type starter at this point.

I have to admit, this is probably the big 'pit-fall' that gamefreak can fall into. It is clear that Fennekin is the starter most people like, so if they mess that up, people will be annoyed. I personally think that the designs have took a turn for the good thus far, lets hope it stays that way. I'm still a chespin man though, i cannot see the oshawott resemblance. Hey anyone for water/flying froakie?
