Close enough, while they may have been warm-blooded, the closest modern analogue for sauropods like the Chikorita line are reptiles.

I tried to look for the origin of the new Pokemon names (Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie), but someone already did it before me. It seems the Grass type is like a hedgehog, the Fire type like a fox (just like Vulpix) and the Water type is like frog (like Poliwag or Tympole).

Honestly, this proves again that the Pokemon's animator are running out of ideas; just like in Black and White there was lots of Pokemon almost identical to old ones. Bouffalant and Tauros, Boldore and Geodude, Tympole and Poliwag, Garbodor and Muk... Like I said, running out of ideas.

Chespin is my favorite. Fennekin and Froakie are both a tad too... generic for me. Normal animals with strange colors are just a little dull for me. Chespin is a cool... anthromorphized chestnut. It's definitly a type of rodent, because of its teeth... Hedgehog really doesn't seem right. I'm off to do some research.

Edit: PORCUPINE! ...Ahem. Yeah, I'm going with porcupine. Hedgehogs don't have those style of teeth, their spikes are shorters as well.

I don't care what type Fennekin and its evolutions will be, it'll be awesome to me. And it's a fox. My user name is a fox, this is fantastic.

So Froakie could be water/dark? He bares a resemblance to Japanese thieves.

    That would be terrible.
Here's how I could see it going

    Chespin: Grass + Ground/Fighting/Steel
    Fennekin: Fire + Psychic/Ground
    Froakie: Water + Psychic/Poison/Fighting

    Bolded the ones I want

Fennekin may not be, though what about its evolutions?

Honestly, I didn't see Tepig's evolutions being Fighting types when it was first revealed.

However, I am more optimistic this time. I trust in Game Freak to not give two thirds of Fire Starters the same second type.

Chespin's Japanese, French, German, and Italian names all contain the word for hedgehog in it.

    Definitely a hedgehog.

I suppose in the end, I like all of the starters. I can find something to appreciate in all starters, even if they aren't my favorite. I just don't understand why Oshawott got so much crap last gen. Doesn't really matter, it just makes me sad. He's the reason I even bought White (as seen in my signature). Anywho, I just hope the starters are all good in some facet, which didn't happen too much in Gen V.
Let's face it: ferret-esque Pokemon are the most epic Pokemon ever (to me)!!!!!! Why can't Nintendo make ones that AREN'T NU Pokemon?!? One of these guys in standard would make me quite happy.

I'm looking for the following Pokemon that are female and have their Dream World Abilities (in order of want)!

If you have any of these and want to trade, PM me and we can work something out. It's hard to say what I can offer, but I have many Pokemon that I can breed. Please mention what you might be interested in when you message me, and I will be accommodating if I can. Thanks!

If I remember correctly, whatever move Fennekin was performing in the trailer, it looked kind of psychic-ish. Maybe it's Fire and Psychic?

Why do so many people believe Fennekin will be part Psychic or Ghost?

Pokemon can learn moves that aren't their type.

And besides, if it is, I can expect people to complain about why Ninetales isn't part Psychic-type.

Nope, once again this proves people exaggerated and blow things out of proportion. It's not a matter of being identical, it's simply a similar concept that is done much differently. I mean if you honestly look at any of those you listed and can't see the clear differences, then that's your issue.

Just like with these starters, they bare plenty of differences to those with similar concepts.

Fennekin is mine! Froakie comes second, and then Chespin. Here are my predictions:
Chespin will end up being a Grass/Dark that is has high Attack and Speed, alright Special Defense and Defense, mediocre HP and bad Special Attack
Fennekin finish as a Fire/Psychic (although I also have this feeling that maybe Ground) with high Speed and Special Attack, pretty good Attack, but bad HP and defenses.
Froakie will be Water(/Ghost?) with high HPand Special Defense, good Special Attack and Defense, bad Attack and Speed, similar to Jellicent.

Yes I noticed that too. I'm thinking Chespin = Grass/Dark, Fennekin Fire/Psychic and Froakie Water/Ice. It would be really cool if these turned out to be true!

My guess would be about the move it used. It looks like it could be a Psychic move, but I need to re-watch the trailer.

Fennekin being Fire/Psychic would be cool. It would be better than Fire/Fighting. New Starter type combo too.

In the trailer it appeared to be using a psychic type move. Plus, the Japanese have many legends about foxes having supernatural abilities.

And so a new journey begins...

even if we don't understand each other, that's not a reason to reject each other. There are two sides to any argument. Is there one point of view that has all the answers? Give it some thought.
