Personally, despite what the poll says (were just one thread compared to the whole Internet), I think all three starters have equal love with each of them. I'm not seeing Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie being left out of popularity unlike its other two starters. And I'm quite happy to see all of them are getting the same attention from my experience.

Chespin is my least favorite starter of Gen 6 and not because I think it's Grassowott but that I didn't get the "awe" feeling unlike previous Grass starters. But I still am fond of all of them.

Imagine a mix between a fennec fox and a sfinx statue...as a final evolution. fire/psychic or fire/ground?
Imagine a Zeus Froakie with lightningbolts in his hands and a big beard...water/electric
and the ninja/knight for chespin hell yeah grass/steel grass/fight or grass/dark

Confusion/Psychic/Hypnosis/Someother psychic move (BC, it was pink/purple (the attack) in the trailer, so it seems that it's a Psychic attack. This practically exterminates chances of a fire/fight, and goes well with the fire/psy speculation.)
Ember (A, Most previous fire starters had it)
Fire Pledge (A)
Return/Frustraion/Protect/Toxic (BC)
Tackle/Scratch/Pound (A)

Water Gun/Hydro Pump/Ice Beam/New Move (BC, Damn you GF, why does this pne look like water and ice!)
Close Combat/Thrash (BC, that attack hit quite alot, so CC or Thrash are both rational to speculate. ALso goes with Water/Fight speculation for evos.)
Ice Beam/Blizzard (BC, most Water types can learn these moves.)
Tackle/Pound/Scratch (A)
Toxic/Protect/Return/Frustration (A)

If this happens, then it seems that Froakkie will have a good movepool, while Chespin and Fennekin also having decent movepools....

Edit: Not wanting to compare, but Shaymin (Land) the other grass hedgehog, could also learn Rollout.

Maybe they'll get new start moves, like a Sp A./Sp D. Reducer or a new normal attack. (Lunge, Anybody?) Heck, maybe one will get a special normal move!

Speaking of, what if you get the starter that has advantage over the other chosen one? With the secondary Fighting/Psychic/Dark spec it could work out as a second semi-semi-type triangle.

That is one of those 'unbreakable' patterns so I assume that your/one of your rival/rivals will get the stronger one. But I do agree, a Fight/Psy/Dark has been heavily speculated over the years, so it's possible.
