Although i dont want to get in detail on a subject with insufficient data; we may found ourselves at an impasse if this goes on. So I kinda like to explain why i think what will happen regarding the little fox.

Fennekin; My gut tells me this line of foxes will go to represent the Inari no kitsune of japanese shinto (rice among other things) deity and the colour scheme works well as they are predominantly whitish-yellow. They are legendary messengers of the god and have supernatural powers thou usually translated as fox spirits even if they are not ghots per se.
Also as we have had the shapeshifting abilities of the legendary kitsune in zoroa line and ghostly and wise aspects with ninetales the only things not delved in depth comes form the other supposed abilities. Those are; 1 lightning, the other warding of the evil.

As we all know more or less neither foxes in question could learn a damaging psychich moves without the help of TMs or breeding and mostly learned ghost or dark moves. (Extrasensory could be learned by vulpix and could be kept by ninetales (in BW2 tutoring can help ninetales) and the same move can be taught to zoroa line by breeding )This move also doesnt depicted with pink colouring. The trailer notwithstanding as the pink isnt all that dominant on psychic damaging moves except 2 signature attacks and confusion (also psywave have purplish-pink hue but different animation on user side going by 5th gen). as neither hypnosis nor growl are pink when used unless we have a complete overhaul of animation i cant say those can be used as counter evidence.

In conclusion i must have to say even thou i dont like psychic type pokemon except metagross, we have more chance of fennekin being psychic if they have went for this legend.Which is likely since most european fox legends are more or less seems as cunning tricksters that is covered by zoroa line. (Still better than fire/fight)

P.S: To ppl saying kitsune as the legendary fox, in modern japanese kitsune means fox as the animal and not the supernatural being foremost. Writing apperently changes between katakana and kanji depending on what is meant.

The mandarin name for Bulbasaur have a character that often refer to amphibian, however, bulbasaur line is also combination early member like reptile and amphibian.

I don't mind repeating on a species of animal, once they don't look the same.
And all the toads/frogs look different so Im happy.

wooper is axototl which also is clearly written if you go to wooper page. you are the 1st one to say wooper as tadpole actually.
venasaur also says it is more like lizard than frog. also mandarin is the only language to find any resemblance to frogs or other amphibians.

I don't wanna believe that it's gonna be another Inario no kitsune (did it just for you :P) like just because it's a fire fox that may or may not be fire/psychic doesn't mean it has to have beads and more than one tail. I'd like to think that because it's a fennec fox it won't go in this direction. But maybe something else. Imo anyway.

You know that there's more than one type of fox in the real world so what's wrong with this being implemented in the game? Also Ninetales was inspired by a myth.

Inario no meaning eludes me i am afraid. but as i have said i am no fan of psychic in any strech of imagination i just think it may be more of a chance of being psychic than ground. Also Fennec fox maybe indigenous to desert climate in real life we had many which got changed. (Hippopotas, sandile even gible(it is a freaking shark thou kinda like my fav. pokes that line) lines would argue. there is more but these are on top of my head.)

The differences between the Fire/Fighting starters (I pray that Fennekin is not going to be Fighting type, give me a Psychic/Fire type NOW !!!)

    Emboar -

MMA: Wrestler (more grappling and throwing),
    Boxer type : Brawler

    Infernape -

MMA: Muay Thai Boxer (more close range punch, knees, elbow),
    Boxer type: In Boxer

    Blaziekn -

MMA: Kick Boxer (more legs and long range punch),
    Boxer type: Out boxer

So in many ways, we pretty much cover all aspect of fighting in MMA and boxing for the fire/fighting type lol, and it will be very unlikely to have Fire/Fighting type starter.

True. I just don't wanna see an inari no kitsune, (Inari is some japanese god or something who had foxes, I'm just putting it simply don't hate me, but if you know this and were making fun of the extra 'o' I put in, touché) I mean it''l look awesome as one, I won't chuck a spaz if it turns out that way. I just don't want one. I don't know why I have this opinion, lol I just don't want one.

we actually have the same opinion as we both dont want it but will settle for it(i kinda think if they can do the design right it might even make ppl forget charizard thou) as no1 wants another fire/fighting. Also i thought Inario was some sort of pun word i didnt think you just misspelled.lol. I knew about the god as is written on my post.

Seriously, we don't need more kitsunes, zoroark have the shapeshifting part covered and Nintails has the tails.
I would much rather have it evolve into a sphinx (or s sphynx, that would have been really hilarious) or something else Egyptian.

    Wow.

Infernape is based off of Kung Fu.. That's OBVIOUS.
Emboar is based off of American Wrestling. Kind of like Hulk Hogan with it's fire boa.
Blaziken is based off of no real fighting style. It's kind of lame anyway. (My opinion)

Now, to talk about how Bulbasaur's line is in fact NOT a toad.
It's simply using the word SAUR as in Lizard. Plant Lizard is generally what it's saying. So, in fact, it's reptilian, not amphibian.

Also, Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam are not foxes. They are based off of Anubis. The Jackal headed god of death in Egyptian mythology. And, they mixed it with a magician.

Also, now to talk about the NEW starter Fennekin. It's a fox, yes. But, it's the first Fennec Fox. Which is very unlike Ninetales. And, if anybody really notices most apes or monkey like creatures in pokemon fit in Fire or Fighting types. So, if most foxes are fire type it's not like they're redoing Ninetales or anything.

Also, Froakie would essentially be the first real TREE frog. While Politoed was kind of a tree frog, it was simply the last stage. Froakie looks like it's whole evolution line is going to be a frog, so that's very different.

I doubt they will do this but I hope they might try to change up the starters abilitys. Just a fresh look to liven things up...

I agree.. Or, at the very least have the hidden abilities available in game. You can simply talk to an old man, and he asks you if you want to change their ability and you say yes. I can see an ability tutor. Especially for the harder to get hidden abilities. But, I can only see it work for a smaller selection of pokemon, or specific pokemon such as the Starters.

I have never really thought of an ability tutor good Idea. I hope they implement it.

I think I've decided to go with Chespin, just so I can sit back and laugh at everyone as they switch from Fennekin to Chespin when the evolutions are shown.

Let's say you take your Fennekin to get her hidden ability.
You have the choice to change it from Blaze to Cute Charm.

(I only say Cute Charm, because apparently it's working on all of you people who voted for her.)

    Well, she is rather cute.

But, anyway, an ability tutor could really only work for Starters. If it worked for all the Pokemon, I would be further impressed with Gamefreak. I also believe that the Dream World may not come back to the 6th Gen. It was too annoying in my opinion. I think that a NEW way of getting hidden abilities or maybe rarer Pokemon should be presented. Maybe a Street Pass or Spot Pass method. Each trainer has a Street Pass Box. Let's say I have my Froakie, Poliwag and Patrat in my Street Pass Box.. and you pass me by, when you boot your game maybe a wild battle will begin and you will immediately have the chance to catch Poliwag or a Patrat with their hidden abilities. I think that sounds like an interesting idea, especially that it requires connectivity and also actually getting out of your house. Haha

Fennekin - Cute Charm, or Magic Guard.. Maybe even Magic Bounce.
Chespin - Technician, Guts, or Skill Link.
Froakie - I see him having weird ones. Contrary, Prankster or Pressure.
