In addition to all that I hope there is a way to get alternate abilities in these games like with the Dream World. Fennekin might greatly benefit from Levitate or Flash Fire.
Err, Chespin would also be weak to Ice, Fighting and Bug types. So as I said Steel would be the best type to pair a Gress type with, defensively speaking.

If they look at least remotely like those, I am quite pleased...
If Fennekin is a fire wolf, instantly my favorite Pokemon.
But I don't want them revolving around the central theme, where this is master sages (Fennekin looks like Alder lol).

Yeah, those don't look like Pokémon in the slightest. I'd be torn if they were real.

Maybe. I'd love to see them go down a royal route for the starters, it seems like a nice theme.
and they each have some type or clothing or accessory (hat, bag, earmuffs??)

Yeah just double checked that. I only remembered steel types working on Cradilly in the past so that's why I was under the impression of that.

This is totally not happening, but I would love it for Chespin to end up evolving into a Grass/Fire type. I mean Ben10 did it with SwampFire, so why can't GameFreak do it with a Pokemon?

    Because this isn't Ben 10.
If a starter changed into another starter's type, what would be the point of the choice?

I would understand a want for a Grass/Fire type, and I could maybe see gamefreak do it, but for sure not with a Starter....

Just imagine some weird typings like Grass/Fire, Fire/Water, Water/Grass. They would all end up being neutral to each other. Of course, this is something that's not happening, but it would be an interesting concept.

You see, Gamefreak has done it in the past, but that didn't really screw the starters. Well, maybe except for Charizard, he really got screwed.
Yeah, but you didn't read my post. None of the types you listed are common early game types. By the time Torterra reaches Snowpoint, you have plenty of other Pokemon to back it up, and Torterra could have something to back its self up by then. Swampert is 4x weak to grass, but it can learn Ice Beam, and you don't really see a lot of tough grass types other than Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile. Finally, Charizard gains Flying type when it gets to level 36. By then, it could have Metal Claw (FR LG). What I'm saying is, Chespin wouldn't have anything to counter Bug types early in the game, and even if he gains Dark type after an evo (likely), it seems like there's going to be a Bug type gym (player bouncing on spider web?) or E4, and there isn't much to counter them. Maybe Aerial Ace (that wasn't Shadow Claw, that was Aerial Ace in the trailer, which completely debunks the Dark typing anyways).

I'm glad someone noticed this. Ice effects always have that powdery look. See Ice Beam in the games and in Battle revolution. The attack is clearly a water move. As stated above , what you perceive to be snowflakes are the "splash rings". When the opponent is hit there are splashes. Normally in pokemon games the opponent turns blue after and ice attack. You'll also see that water spiral that wraps around the move if you look closely.

EDIT: http://tinyurl.com/Frog-Fu I'm hoping for a water/fighting with High speed and attack. I get a treeko vibe from him. Of all the frog/toad pokemon froakie, seems like it is on the nimble side. Him evolving into a wisened sage with a foamy beard would fit the old man hax trope.

    Wild Pokemon, maybe.
As a starter, it'd make me vomit.

The first one reminds me too much of Palpitoad. I think the other one was better. It's amazing how quickly though people can draw up these concepts.
