Ugh. I really wouldn't like that, I feel like we miss a character when Professors/rivals/boss also act as Gym leaders/E4/Champ. It worked with Giovanni and Blue, but I don't think I'd like it again.

perhaps they can be on challenge mode level AI or we could see various AI levels based on the type of trainer you might encounter

Amateur(young trainers new to pokemon yet to fully grasp the basics)- trainer-low AI uses basic level up moves no strategy

Casual(most common trainers who aren't serious about battling)-similar to amateur but will go for super effective attacks

Breeder-like casual but would have access to egg moves

Skilled-(more competent trainers)-level up moves + TM moves and can retain what would be otherwise "forgotten moves" individual Pokemon based strategies can switch for better match ups if non of their moves work on you Pokemon

Professional-(Gym leaders/ high level trainers(veterans,Ace trainers etc))- can use any TM level and egg moves on a Pokemon, limited use of held items team can use strategies will switch

Master(E-4, Champion & other endgame level specialist trainers)-can use any moves available to their Pokemon have team wide strategies and can use any item will switch to better match ups (if possible to program they would be able to predict switches)
Dragons are my friend, Ice is my foe...
(Kyurem is an exception) dragonics rule

I'd actually like this a lot. Gives a graduated increase in power as you go through the game. Though, maybe they should ease it with the gym leaders, as I wouldn't (just giving an example here) want to go up against a gym leader's charmander that knows Outrage

I like this, I like this alot. Even if GF don't want that much AI then just give the E4 some really high levels to have the stats make up for it.

good point they should pick moves based on where gym leaders would appear in game on challenge mode however...(well you asked for it )
Oh yeh I guess professional and master could use tutor moves too?(Or should they be master?)

Dude this idea is incredible. You should also add the higher the trainer's AI the prone they are to switch their Pokemon when in danger. Besides that great idea

Because there were so many more Dragon types for him to choose from back then. All 2 of them.

He didn't use Kingdra because it was Clair's main.

Honestly, given the fact that there were 2 Dragon type users in GSC (which was a pretty stupid decision), they did about as good as they could've done.

NO, he just had Dragon-ish Pokemon coz there was nothing else to use.

It was a joke. Lance isn't a Flying specialist and the twins aren't Rock specialists.

    Breaking this discussion about... Whatever.

Anyway, let's see the E4 Types...

    Kanto:
    1. Ice
    2. Fighting
    3. Ghost
    4. Dragon

    Johto:
    1. Psychic
    2. Poison
    3. Fighting
    4. Dark

    Hoenn:
    1. Dark
    2. Ghost
    3. Ice
    4. Dragon

    Sinnoh:
    1. Bug
    2. Ground
    3. Fire
    4. Psychic

    Unova:
    1. Ghost
    2. Dark
    3. Psychic
    4. Fighting

    Soo...

    We had
    3 Fighting E4s
    3 Psychic E4s
    3 Ghost E4s
    3 Dark E4s
    2 Ice E4s
    2 Dragon E4s
    1 Poison E4
    1 Bug E4
    1 Ground E4
    1 Fire E4
And none of every other Type.

Well, that's... Unbalanced. And if you factor in Champion Types too, you got a Water Type, another 2 Dragon users, and a Steel/Rock/Ground user.

... Sinnoh did well with Types.

Lol we put this on the last page, only 2 types don't have a gym if you include Fairy, yet there are 8 types yet to be in the E4. So yeah very unbalanced

Whoa, putting it like that, it's crazy! I don't get how they arbitrarily decide to pick E4s and end up with THREE Fighting and Psychic! Crazy! Why no Flying? Rock? Sinnoh did actually do VERY well in their types tbh, quite unique!

This needs to change :P Come on Poison/Rock/Normal/Flying/Mixed Champion! Normal E4 would be HARD if you think about it! Especially if they carry stuff like BLissey or MILTANK :O or maybe Litleo/Helioptile's evo??

Normal type elite 4 would not be hard, bring a fighting type and spam close combat, would be interesting if a Normal/ghost type was introduced in this gen.

So?! If we have a Dark type Elite We can just spam Close Combat... I dont see your point, all types have weaknesses, atleast a Normal Elite would be something new instead of having a 4th Dark Elite.

You could say the same for Grimsley. I dunno, I want to see E4 members with new type specialities, regardless of how easy/difficult they'd be.

Well, you could say that about any type- like Water- only a handful resist Grass Electric init? But you couldn't rely solely on it, like what if they had Quagsire :P and you said it yourself- Normal/Ghost haha- That would be lol on CC spammers if they sent that out :P Girafarig is neutral to Close Combat too- and if they take out your CC'r, you could get taken down!
