I have a feeling we will be getting a fire e4 member. Remember the elaborate room with fire columns in the first trailer? Looked like a pokemon league room to me.

Also, I kinda consider Alder to be a bug trainer purely because the type generally fits with the e4 types, specifically Dark and Ghost (Rattled ability)

I thought that at first, but I can't see a trainer in that room, so I think it's a room before you get to the Elite 4 members, like as something to 'gear you up' before your fight or something, as you said it might be the room before the fire trainer. I'd be happy with a Fire gym leader more but would still like a fire elite.

Another argument against my thought is that Bruno's room had lots of lava, and he has no fire pokemon. So aesthetics dont always show the trainers specialty

I don't know I've always been skeptical as to what that room is and I don't think they would show an E4 room especially not in the first trailer so maybe it's just an important location and one thing I noticed was at the top of the door it looks like a base of a Y.

heh, for the E4, why not just have the 4 members be multiple types then the Champion has a Legendary pokemon team? that would make it more challenging not to mention wouldnt be as dull as 1 pokemon type.

Also, Loreli or however u spell her worthless name, in the Gen 1 games was water pokemon as well (even though they say ice base she had a slowbro a lapras and i do believe 2 Dewgong or at least 1 and a jynx from what i remember which is mostly all water except for the jynx).... so 2 water E4 members not just 1 is what has been had.

Lol, a champion using only legendary Pokémon.

About lorelei, Slowbro is indeed no Ice-type. Congratulations. Lapras and Dewgong are though.

I'm gonna throw in another few cents of mine...

With all this talk of tradition, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Rock type. I actually kind of miss it as the first gym type for some reason. I don't know why, I guess it just makes me feel nostalgic for generations I, III and IV... I think it would be cool to see it as the last gym this time around, switch things up a little (although to be honest, I think I agree with 'Beach rumours, as much as I'm trying to resist).

I actually don't mind if we see another Ice gym relatively late on again. For most, if not all, regions, the icey area is only introduced relatively late on in the game, or, map, at least. Unless GF wanted to give us a gym leader who had a team full of Pokemon that we were just seeing for the first time there and then, then the Ice gym is always going to be late. Until Gen IX, based on Scandinavia, where we start off in a snowy town, with an Ice / Flying regional bird...

I am adamant that Dark and Fairy need to have gyms this time around! I'm sure GF will want to showcase Fairy at the very least, and it's just time for Dark to be represented, is it not?

And since I hope Poison is getting a buff this generation, I would like to see it have a gym, preferably in the second half.

And I've always enjoyed Ghost gyms. Although more like Morty's than Fantina's, please, in terms of puzzle design. I'd like some proper challenging puzzles, too, please. I understand that this game is marketed at 10 year olds or so, but the fandom is much older than that now (or at least those of us who have been around since Gen I are), and perhaps this could be reflected in some of the puzzles? I think the puzzle that sticks out best to me is Winona's for some reason. It certainly required a little bit of thinking.

What are people's opinions regarding puzzles in the Elite 4?

As for E4 types, I'd like to see Fire, Water and Grass. I don't really mind about the fourth, although perhaps Flying would make sense if we were to look at the traditional elements. Something I'd like, however, is that if Fire, Water, and Grass appear in the E4, or as gyms, then I think the ace should be the fully evolved starter of the type. It shows us that other people actually have them, whilst also adding an extra - albeit small - dimension to the characters, perhaps they could tell us a little bit about their journey, how they started off as we did with their starter, overcame challenges, etc, until they became a gym leader / E4 member.

As for the champion, if BLANK / Normal is going to become a thing (slowly accepting it...) then a Normal champion sounds like a good idea to me, being diverse whilst having a core, too. For instance, a fully evolved Helioptile and Litleo (if they keep their /Normal typings, which I doubt and hope not), maybe a Flier... (Then, using older Pokemon as examples) Girafarig, Sawsbuck, and a Bibarel... OF DOOM.
My thoughts with regards to a Sound type. Comments, feedback, etc, would be appreciated.

Well most champions have a pseudo legend, so I expect it to happen again this gen as well. Normal-type pseudo-legend pl0x. Maybe Fairy/Normal.
I know, I know: Green/Blue didn't have one, and Alder's Volcarona from a purely technical standpoint, isn't a pseudo-legend (even though, imo, it might as well be.)

That's exactly what I pitched though I'd rather the Champion be diverse just because I think it is more difficult that way. I suggested the elite 4 be Fire,Water,Grass,Normal a nice combination of uniqueness plus I'd love a normal e4 member with all the dual normal types we're getting this gen.

Bibarel OF DOOM > Pseudo Legend.

Also, and I meant to say this in the previous post, but other than champions having teams of awesomeness, I really dislike the idea of themed gyms, etc. Types just feels... right. Of course, I'd be happy if there was a Rock leader who also specialised in defence.

Nah, E4 should have certain types really. Champion with a legendary may not be too bad but i'm still more along the lines of just having them with a mix team.

Lorelei makes absolutely perfect sense. She has ALL 4 Ice pokemon that Gen 1 introduced (She obvs wasn't having an Articuno) Her other Pokemon is Slowbro because it has a Shellder on it's tail which is part of an Ice line. Total sense.

I'd like to see a Psychic, Grass, Rock, and Dark type Gyms this round. I feel like we've seen to many Psychic and Dark Elite Four members, but not enough Gym leaders. Also for the Elite 4, can they not have us choose the ones we want to battle, it kind of takes the difficulty of battling the Elite 4 and having them all at the same level was kind of under-whelming.

What if they weren't the same level this time and now depending on which one you go to, the next E4 member you choose is harder then the first one you chose and so forth, allowing four possible orders to choose from but the the orders all get harder as you progress to the next one?

Grass wouldn't exactly go along the lines of an Elite Four. GF totally screwed up when they made a Bug Elite Four in D/P/P

It would b egood if teh order would be random. so the moment you step in and the door "closes" you get a random order to battle the 4

In what way? The rosters were completely fine. And Gamefreak can put any type in the E4 if they wish, no one is stopping them.

But doesn't Grass seem "innocent" for a boss battle of that caliber?

I really dislike the use of innocent or evil when speaking about Pokemon Types. When aesthetically speaking, Grass has Torterra, Venusaur, Carnivine, Ferrothorn and other more "fierce"
looking pokemon. No it doesn't, to answer your question.

I agree with Requiem's Eclipse. You can't really categorize a Pokemon type as "innocent" or "evil" (except maybe Dark, which is called "Evil-type" in Japanese, and even then not all Pokemon of its type are evil). It should depend on the Pokemon itself, or even its owner. No Pokemon has ever truly been evil (outside of the Anime - I don't watch the Anime or Movies, so there might as well be a purely evil Pokemon there).

Going back to the topic on hand, I think a Grass-type E4 member would be great. Have we had one of those before?

I was talking about having a Grass Gym, not Elite Four. Although, I wouldn't mind a beastly Grass type Elite Four member either. Grass in general is usually shafted.

Never, E4 have been Ice, Fighting, Ghost, Poison, Dragon, Dark, Ground, Bug, Fire and Psychic. They have been used multiple times. the 4th gen being the most original with it's typing for the Elite 4 or 1st if you want to be a stickler.

I would like to actually see Electric, Flying, Grass and Water Elite.....maybe even Normal. I feel like they should use more of the over used Gym Types as Elite 4 members while using the overused Elite 4 types as Gyms.
