Seconded. They should all get in on the action. It'll be a bit awkward having Dodrio or Gyarados just floating around, though...

Unless they have contests in X and Y or something of that nature, I'm guessing that the food you can give your Pokemon with the Pokemon Amie feature is going to be either for EV boosting purposes or simply to provide them a friendship increase based on whether or not they like the taste of it.

I personally hope they do have contests, why gen 5 didn't have them is beyond me but removing them was really stupid in my opinion.

SoulsofSilver, remember that these are the same games where your zubat, Pidgey, Fearow, Tailow, Starly, Hoothoot, Wingull, Swablu, Murkrow, Pidove, Woobat, Ducklett, Rufflet, Vullaby, and Chatot can somehow carry you across the ENTIRE FRIGGIN REGION DESPITE NOT EVEN BEING A TENTH OF YOUR HEIGHT OR ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR WEIGHT!

Those must be some strong birds and bats in order to manage that. Also remember that these are the games where you can legitimately get pikachu that can use fly if you do it right.

I think they will, or atleast hope so. I've always seen it that only pokemon who can fly at 'altitude' can learn fly. Which is why you dont see Butterfree and Beedrill getting it, its coz you don't really see butterflies and bees up at like 500ft. That's the way I see it, but we have no clue how GF are going to decide who can participate or not.

I'm guessing qualifiers for who can participate will not be based on mechanics like type, move compatibility, or ability. More like a set list. I'm betting pokemon like Dodrio, Tynamo, or Baltoy would be excluded, while the Lati@s make it in. I can't really imagine chingling or wash rotom participating.

Togetic can learn Fly, therefore I believe it's fine for him to fly at altitude, same for Dodrio, even though it can't/shouldn't actually fly.

Guys, we must remember that these are the same games where your Zubat can somehow carry you across the entire region and the same games where you can surf on the back of a Luvdisc. How does it work? I am not sure because it also does not look like you should even be able to sit on a Luvdisc.

I'm pretty sure they have enough strength to provide transportation for humans.

Zubat cant do that... Crobat can!

Yeah its just one of those things that doesn't make sense. In all fairness, the protagonists in the game are like what 12-13 year old anorexic kids that weigh less than 100 pounds. Still too heavy for a pidgey or zubat to carry you across a reigon... But still like the popular Pokémon comic states, a Pidgey can learn fly but not scyther.

Have you ever even taught Zubat fly and used it to go from Lavender to indigo to safari zone and back using that same route? Yes, that is across two regions with a zubat and practically without stopping to take a rest.
