It was a beautiful day on October 16th, 1998. It was my 8th birthday that day, and who would've known that day i received one of the greatest birthday presents i would ever receive. On that day i received my first gameboy. An extreme green gameboy pocket. And what came with it? Pokemon Red. I can still remember the iconic moments that day while playing the game, "Mac chose Charmander" "Smell you later". Best moment of that day was when i beat Brock and got the boulder badge. Because of Pokemon Red i will always regard Charizard as my personal favorite pokemon.

My first game was Yellow, and I mostly remember that I never got passed Brock. XD Eventually, the game was stolen but I ended up buying another copy that I still play today!

I hear ya. I did a Pikachu only run of Pokemon Yellow. I think my Pikachu was in the low 30's when i beat Brock. Whatever the level you get slam. By far the hardest Pokemon game there is.

I remember getting Pokemon red along with a gameboy colour for my 6th birthday (I'm 23 now) and I remember playing it from the moment I woke up until the moment I fell asleep, after about 1 month I beat the elite four and then somehow stumbled onto finding mewtwo and having no idea what the hell it was lol, it was long before the movie was released, I still have the same gameboy but I don't know what happened to my copy of red, I got another copy a few months ago and am currently using an all Ghastly/ Gengar/ Haunter team and even though the remakes have come out with improved graphics, I still love the slightly red tinted pixels of the original, who would have thought a few pixels could be so epic?

Lets see. I first played Pokemon on a friend of mine's game boy. He was Japanese and brought Pokemon Green home with him. I tried it (unable to read anything) while he explained what to press, lol. I forgot about it. Then a few months later, Pokemon came to the US. I was sick at home from school one day, and I saw the Mystery of the Lighthouse episode with Bill and the giant Dragonite. That Dragonite was so freaking cool that I had to know more. A commercial came on for Red and Blue and then it hit me...this was the game my crazy Japanese friend Andrew was trying to explain to me. That night, i lied telling my mother that I felt better so I could go out to dinner with them. I asked if we could stop by Target so I could grab a video game. I ran in and bought Pokemon Blue with my hard earned babysitting cash and ran out to the car. I popped it into my game boy (the original brick one) and realized that I couldn't see it in the dark. Crap. We went to dinner, Joe's Crab Shack, and the whole time I was sitting there pretending to not be sick, trying not to vomit with the seafood smell all around. I told them I was feeling bad again, so Mom let me take the keys and go lay in the car. Guess what... I could have the dome light on in the car while it wasn't moving! Victory! So in the parking lot at Joe's I began my journey with Squirtle that is still going on year after year.

I can remember my brother having red and I was so jealous of him and then when yellow got released I got it and was so happy because you got the 3 starters and it was based on the anime which I also loved and I think my team was: pikachu, blastiouse, venasaur, charizard, snorelax and chansey
Because of this I might start a new game on it

Pokemon Stadium was the first game I ever bought with my own money. I was about five or six, and I saved up my allowance like crazy just to get the game, and I had so much fun. I would play the mini games, and I loved pulling out the rental Pokemon. At first, I never won because I only chose Pokemon that I liked which were the weak ones like Nidoran and Caterpie. But I soon got the hang of battling. Though I don't think I ever made it all the way up to Mewtwo.

My mom found a Blue version at a yard sale a couple months later, and my sister, being a bit of a bully claimed the game was hers. In a sense, she was right. The gameboy was technically hers, but mom told us that we should share. Needless to say, she didn't. After a couple weeks, she got bored with the game and let it collect dust for a few months. I finally stole the game from her, and when I popped it in, I found out that she only had two badges. I erased her game, and she was super mad, but I didn't pay it too much mind. At first, I had a tendency to restart the game because I had trouble getting through rock tunnel. I restarted the game about 4 times until I finally hit my stride. My first team was Venusaur, Raichu, Farfetch'd, Clefable, Parasect, and Lapras.
even if we don't understand each other, that's not a reason to reject each other. There are two sides to any argument. Is there one point of view that has all the answers? Give it some thought.
^ This is the reason why I like arguing. If I come off as standoffish or overly angry in an argument, don't worry. I'm probably having the time of my life. Whether I agree with them or not, the pokemon fandom has a lot of different opinions, and I love how nobody is afraid to share them.

Well back around 1999 my cousin was very lucky to have received a gameboy as a present from his grandma that includes the Blue version of the game.. I spent most of my afterschool time watching him play. After he had finished the game I remember he let me borrow it and thus my unforgettable memories of Pokemon had begin..

    My memorable experience..

    - Buying a Magikarp for 500 Pokemon money. Initially it was useless thinking I got ripped off. All it knew was Effin Splash!! But when it finally evolved it was a beast!

    - I hated the effing caves especially Mt. Moon and Rock Tunnel. Too much Geodude and Zubat..

    - The Cerulean Bridge prize for defeating them trainers, a piece of Nugget!

    - Turning off the volume whenever I pass through Lavander Town. The song was hauntingly creepy..

    - Wondering how can someone get a Dratini out of the Casino prize exchange..

    - Evolving Vulpix to Ninetales not knowing it won't learn any decent attack. Screw that I have no game guide!

    - You only have one choice for an Eeveelution! I've always chose Vaporeon though.. This was the one reason I am thankful for breeding method!

    - Depositing one Pokemon in the daycare that you will eventually forget to pick up! I left my Mankey then after I finished the game it was already at level 59!

    - The lack of register buttons for key items to make life easier..

    - Catching Chansey, Scyther, Tauros, Dratini, Pinsir and Kangaskhan at Safari Zone was a pain!

    - I hated the endless team rocket battle at Silph Co in Saffron City!

    - The Tune while riding your bike! Heck all of them soundtrack were memorable and had its nostalgic effect!

    - Route 17 the hardest to pedal your bike heading north! But going down south was a breeze!!

    - Your rival always gives you the surprise factor when challenging you for a duel!

    - Pokeflute & Snorlax!

    - No Move Deleter, Move Relearner and one time use of items and TM's made the game more of a challenge and unwanted annoyance!

    I think that's about it..

I remember going to the league each time I got a new badge. I wanted to know how far they'd let me go.

I remember buying the Magikarp for $500 because of this investment. I have to say that I was pleased with my Gyarados, so worth the $500, but could have gotten it easier. I remember coming across a few bugs in the game, and one friend told me about the Mew Glitch. I remember only training Blastoise to level 70 and beating everyone in the Elite Four. That was worth remembering.

My memories of Pokemon G/R/B/Y is that I was always afraid that my file would get destroyed!
Back then, gameboys didn't really have a reliable save batteries...I was victim to A LOT of destroyed files :'(
I was able to defeat the games eventually haha!

The first gen 1 game I've played was Pokémon Stadium 1 (2 if you're Japanese), I had a lot of fun playing it, especially transferring my pokémon from Yellow into the game. Sadly, as a stupid kid, I never beaten the elite four

I remember my friend showed me Pokémon Yellow, and let me play it for a bit. I had never played an RPG before at that time, so I thought it was a strange, but very cool and interesting concept... to be able to walk around in an open world, talk to people and collect monsters. He then gave me an emulator + ROM to play it, because I didn't have a Gameboy. I barely knew any English, so I hardly understood any of the dialogue, but that didn't really matter to me.

I remember just having found the exit to Mt. Moon's cave, and showing my team to my friend. He said I should use a Moonstone on my Jigglypuff to make it evolve. I was like "WTF is evolve?" and he explained how Pokémon change form and become stronger when they evolve. After I made my Jigglypuff evolve I was mega excited to see what the rest of my Pokémon would evolve into.

I remember travelling to Fuchsia City first because I couldn't find a way to get into Saffron City (something about a thirsty guard blocking the way). There was one trainer in Koga's Gym with a Hypno that almost destroyed my team. I think that was my first encounter with a Psychic Pokémon, and thinking back on it I'm glad I didn't go to Sabrina first, lol.

I remember finding Articuno in the Ice Cave, and I was like "WTF is this?" I had never heard of legendary Pokémon before. It took me ages to capture it.

I remember having a Nidoking with Trash that would kill almost anything, lol.

My first game was a pokemon yellow also, and I remember it was a hand-me-down from one of my older cousins that had already moved on to something else. I was very young around the time so I did not really do too much with the game but for some reason I still remember a lot of what I did with it. I believe it was around that time where my hate of caves in all pokemon games started. Getting somewhat lost while initiating a battle after every 3 steps. Geez to this day it still annoys me lol thank god for Max Repels.

Birthday gift from my grandpa was a new blue game boy color. The same day we went to game store where a guy had given me my first game, which was completed and that was Red. While I was there I got Pokemon Yellow and since Pikacu/Electric types have always been my favorite type.

I have strange memories of generation I. Before I played Red/Blue I had the cards and that book, and I already had Silver. Seeing the sprites in Red/Blue was shocking. They're kind of charming in their awfulness now, and nostalgia goes a long way, but jeeze. Some of them are hideous. Then, online I discovered the Japanese Red/Green sprites

Awww man.... Yeah. I've grown to love the sprites over the years, but when the games first came out nothing looked right.

The first thing I remember is playing Red and Blue with my sister and naming our Pidgey at the time, Abra. So...then we had a Pigeot named Abra XD I also remembering turning Yellow on just to see the intro, I thought it was so cool with all the colors and Pikachu slowly getting closer to the screen. There are some other memories, but they just won't come out of my head right now.

Ah the excitement when I first got it...
The frustration of Pikachu failing to beat Brock...
The sense of accomplishment after entering the Hall of Fame...
    Good memories...

When I've received my Pokemon Yellow alongside GameBoy Color.
It was a very hot night. The sky was clear and me and my dad was on the house of uncle of mine. We were always there in the weekends because near there existed a game store. My dad said he would get me a new console and game. Now, was I excited? Sure I was! Then, at exactly 10 of PM, my dad was home with a Gameboy Color and my Pokemon Yellow. I've loved!
That night, I've played it until it was 5 of AM. I've captured a Nidoran, Caterpie, Pidgey and got that Charmander and also captured a Magikarp! It was the best day ever. I can't compare it to any memories I've ever had.

Bringing my Gameboy Color to school and playing Pokemon with everyone in class. When I first found out about Missingno and the Rare Candy glitch, it was one of the greatest things ever. Battling with everyone was fun even though we all had no idea what we were doing.
