Halo 4 honestly made me sad at the end. I've played and loved every Halo game and to see Cortana and Master chief split like that...

The ending of the "Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon" made me feel sad, especially the last words from Spyro.

I guess because I was young, but Yoshi's Story plot was very sad to me. As orphan babies, they have to bust their little butts to beat things that were it not a game, would kil them (not like them getting imprisoned is much better, but yeah). But there is a happy ending, so yay!

Sonic Adventure 2-oh wait, you said games that AREN'T hideous abominations? Okay then.

Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky. Most of the games I play aren't really story heavy, so I don't really get sad moments like those.

Oh cry m0ar. I much prefer the first Adventure but Adventure 2 is by no means a bad game.

It is when you consider the fact that Sonic is a franchise about speed, and speed only makes up 1/3 of the gameplay in SA2.

So, a game can be good, but if it's put into a series where its gameplay doesn't belong, it's instantly bad as a result?

Um, yeah. You play games for a certain experience. In Sonic's case, it's high speed platforming. Adding gameplay that doesn't add to that experience can be quite grating, especially if you happen to not like the genre of gameplay they introduce. I mean really, how many people do you think enjoy high speed platforming, treasure hunting, slow mech shooting, AND fishing? Not many.

Apparently a lot of people do. Also, I would consider your disliking of a game on that basis your fault (or rather a fault with you), and not the game's. Something is off with you, not the game. You arrived at that expectation, not the game.

On topic, some stuff in the Kingdom Hearts games can be pretty sad, but I think most games can have a sad angle if they have a half decent story and you think about them the right way.

The problem is that the other two gameplay styles in SA2 aren't good. The speed sections, though worse than SA1, are still tolerable, but the mech/treasure hunting completely ruin the game for me.

Hey, I guess that counts as something sad, right? A game that was ruined by bad gameplay that doesn't belong.
