    Default Rotating Seven Pokemon

    I'm playing through White 2, and I'm considering rotating in a seventh team member. So I figured I'd ask this: do any of you rotate between seven Pokemon? If so, what games, and how do you manage it?

    Hm...not really. I more tend to catch somthing for one gym and then move on.

    I generally don't see a need; four to six 'mons gives you enough 'mons to have some form of advantage against any opposition.

    It's probably easier on Gen V, though, due to the weighted Exp.

    I always used to have a team of six, five, or maybe even four, but since gen V I've rotated about nine or ten Pokemon throughout my team.

    I wouldn't recommend it. I've never done it. Its too fiddly. Sometimes I just have 5 on my team and keep a spot spare for a HM slave.

    I never do it, because I plan my team out before I even start the game, maybe in X and Y I will. Emphasis on the maybe.

    Recently, I have in my black 2, as I have about 25 pokemon I've trained well (and will continue to train eventually), and switch between not only them but some new pokemon too very frequently. In the past though I would always plan to rotate during the story, but end up abandoning, or at least letting fall far behind, the main team member I switched out. But as I said I do do it in my beaten black 2 game all the time now.

    Usually no. I've tried, but it's pretty difficult and I've found that if you're not careful, it can actually sap exp from the rest of your team. However, since you're in Gen V, you might be able to manage it with Audino training. Go to a part of the region where the Pokemon generally match the lvl of the one you want to train. Run alongside the grass until a patch starts shaking and fight the Audino inside it. Rinse and repeat until the Pokemon is either too strong for the area (in which case you just move to one that is more suitable) or it reaches the desired lvl for your team. That ought to make it easier to balance.

    It's cool with 6 pokemon, but sometimes I prefer to have more rotating pokemon, becasue I miss someone that I like, and you can't decide which to choose.

    Yeah I rotated 3 team member in Pokémon White and 4 in White 2, it was really fun and added extra depth into my team.

    Keep your pokémon level equal by not letting anyone fall behind or get to far ahead and use Audino to train your team up.

    Never really did that. I usually just get six Pokémon, being at least two of them a Water or Flying, so I can use HM Surf and Fly any time I want. Overall, when I get a new game and don't know which pokémon to use, I normally catch one of the "early game" Pokémon, and then I choose the rest mostly based on typing and looks. If i don't like using a Pokémon, to the PC he goes. I just don't have patience for leveling up 7 Pokémon. Just 6 are a pain, sometimes!

    I rotate through lots of pokemon - literally dozens of them if it's my first time through a region and I'm trying to get a feel for what's there, and at least a dozen or so even on later playthroughs. I like lots of variety and like using specialists when I can. I travel with a team of five, so I've got a spot open to see new catches immediately and decide if I want to keep them or reset (I save constantly), so excluding HM slave(s), I've got three or four battlers, and over the course of a game, those become more often the same three or four - just whichever ones I find I can depend on most and have the best synergy (for instance, in my current B2, that's settling down to Crobat, Vaporeon, Trapinch, Scraggy and Leavanny). But whenever I go into an area with an expected set of pokemon (like Chargestone Cave) or whenever I face a gym leader or such, I build the team specifically for that, just out of what I've got available and what seems appropriate.

    The only extra requirement is a bit of grinding to keep levels up. Since they're all specialists, so I'm not trying to force a poorly suited pokemon into surviving against an opponent it has no business being in against in the first place, I can be underleveled safely - a STABbed SE attack is going to do a lot of damage even if my attacker is a few levels below the opponent and the opponents attacks, which will almost certainly be resisted, aren't going to hurt much in turn either. For instance, just yesterday, coming through Driftveil in B2, I ground everyone up to about level 27 and went into Clay's gym that way. Most of the opponents are level 30 or so, and Clay's Excadrill is 32, but Leavanny, Azumarill, Lilligant and Vaporeon cut through that gym like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Type advantage does wonders.

    So yeah - all it takes is a bit of grinding here and there (which is what Audinos and Pokemon Breeders are for) and that's it. Really, that aside, I think it's FAR easier to rotate than to keep a single team, just because of the type advantage you can get when you tailor the team for the situation. And by the time I get to the E4, I've got a pretty good idea who's going to be on my final team and in what combination just based on who's turned out to be most dependable. And along the way, I get to discover lots of things I wouldn't have discovered otherwise, since I end up using lots of pokemon that I probably wouldn't have bothered to use otherwise.

    I guess I'm just the opposite of most. For novelty, I've tried runs with a set team and even solo runs, but they bore me. I get tired of looking at the same pokemon over and over and I get tired of using less-than-optimal attacks and having them work anyway just because I'm overleveled. That just takes the fun out of it for me, and then the only advantage is that it usually goes faster so it's over faster and I can be done with it and go back to experimenting and trying things out and being underleveled and not caring because I've got the right pokemon in the right situation with the right attacks and it works anyway. That's fun to me.

    I always just had a team of the legendary of my version, my starter and then other Pokemon I get, and just use several HMs on each. But never weak moves like Cut or Rock Smash, but like Surf, Fly, and Strength. I always catch other strong Pokemon but never use them because it would be weird. Then I feel bad and make an alternate team, and never use my alts.

    Only time I rotate Pokémon in my team is when I need to use HMs. I'm fine with my Wailord knowing Surf and Waterfall and Flygon knowing Fly, but I refuse to teach any of my main team members a move as weak as Cut. Though I normally don't have a full team of 6 until I'm up to the 7/8th Gym, so my HM slaves are on me most of the game. I do swap some main team members out on the rare occasion, doesn't bother me how long it takes to grind.

    I usually just keep a team of 6 then rotate an HM slave out when I'm not battling.

    I usually have like eight, to have a wide variety. I just take the time to train all of them to the same level (in Black I'm using the Audinos). Its not like you only have so many hours to play the game. It used to really suck training all my Pokemon, but with the Audinos its a lot easier.
    Oh my gosh. You can tell I havent been on here since before X & Y was released.... Signature was before fairy type was even confirmed. Oh lordy that's been awhile ago.

    I tried rotating 8 Pokemon in White but ended up giving up the 2 weakest around the time I got to Chargestone Cave.

    I usually go with just six. I may get in to a seven pokémon team in X and Y, but that depends on how many new pokémon I like. As of now, my seventh member has always been the HM slave, which really isn't a member, I just tell them that so they feel better.

    I've just recently started with B/W and am trying with D/P. I usually just have a set six and keep a spare until I get my full team. Maybe a second water type if I don't want to make my starter learn surf. For example I used my Amoongus in B/W until I got my Braviary and a Kricketune in D/P until I can catch a gible. I also used aipom for a little while in HG. Basically you just need to make sure they don't fall behind and if they do spend some time raising them back up. It can be tricky but rewarding if you have any types your main party is weak against.

    I have never rotated seven pokemon but I like the idea of rotating them. I generally find that the most optimal strategies (like a team of 5/6 fully pokemon) aren't necessarily going to give you the most enjoyment out of the games especially on repeat play-throughs. Of course If I was rotating I would generally want to rotate more heavily, too keep things fresh throughout the game.

    I did try this on White, not intentionally mind you. Actually ended up with a team of 8 once I'd caught Zekrom. Problem was my Simisear dropped behind the rest of the team and eventually wound up in a vicious cycle of not being strong enough to be used in battle, so not getting any exp to make him stronger until eventually he was dropped completely. Can't remember which 6 of the remaining 7 I used against N and the evil peeps but they were all pretty balanced. Though since Zekrom didn't need any training I wouldn't really consider it some masterful balancing act of maintaining a team of 7.

    I have already rotated seven, and even eight or nine at Battle Frontier of Emerald. An specific trio for each Frontier Brain.
