Default 2013 International Challenge - March (Official Play! Pokemon Wi-Fi Tournament)

The 2013 International Challenge - March

    Battling has begun!
    March 22nd-25th!
    Good luck, trainers!
May your BATTLES be ever in your FAVOR!

The 2013 International Challenge - March is a Wi-Fi tournament held by The Pokemon Company, International, or TCPi.
Trainers from all over the world will be able to battle each other from the comforts of their own home, or wherever Wi-Fi is available.
And our prize for participating in this tournament?

    The Rowap Berry!
When the holder takes damage from a special attack, the Pokémon that landed the attack is also damaged.
Also, if you are participating in the official Play! Pokemon VGC Events, you can earn Championship Points to play at Worlds if you rank well!
Be sure to sign up on the official Pokemon.com website, as well as on the Global Link to ensure that you can participate!

Use this thread as your way to discuss whatever you need with your fellow trainers in relation to the tournament.
Feel like talking about the current GBU Metagame, and what that could mean in the competition?
Or maybe you want to discuss possible teams, or Pokemon you may be using?
Maybe you just want to get a few practice battles in?
Could it be that you have a question?
Feel free to do so here!

Spoiler:- The Rules (MAKE SURE YOU READ THEM):

Why am I using Lileep you ask? Because Storm Drain plus eviolite is awesome. Anyway, hoping I'll do a little better this time, because I'm still pretty indifferent on double battles.

    Double battles again?

And here I thought they were branching out in to different forms of battles
    No matter
    Its sounds exciting!
Although I hope they solve the rage quitting problem
    It's still really bad

Anything that you can get championship points from will be Doubles. But, it's still really fun!
Unfortunately, the rage quitting problem will not be easy to stop. They can only lower the amount of disconnections by applying stricter rules to it, but even then you have people that continue to do it

I'm an experienced triple and rotation battler, as well as a competent single battler. However, I have a disliking for double battles, for some reason, I was never able to get into it. It feels....restricted, not the wide variety of triple battles, not the singularity and decisive tactics of single battles, just awkwardly inbetween.
Well whatever, good luck to everyone! Perhaps I'll be facing you~

I'm in, and am also hoping the RQ'ers are less frequent. To everyone on here who is playing I encourage you to do what I did in the previous tournament and keep a note of the Trainer name and location of anyone who RQ's on you, then email them all to Nintendo Customer support at the end of the tournament, if enough people email the same names (cos we all know it's the same people doing the RQ'ing when they get a high score) then hopefully Nintendo will ban them from future events.

Also quick note on this tournament, although everyone including Serebii is saying this is a Double's tournament, the news page on the Official Pokémon website actually says this will be Rotation Battles again (although when you click on the rules link that does say Double's). Possibly a typo on the news page but could catch people out.

I'm sticking with the core of my successful sand team, swapping out my Landorus for my newly caught and trained Shiny Thundurus just to see if he functions better against the inevitable Rain teams I will come up against.

Going with Wob over Uxie this time just to see how he plays.

Yeah, I actually do see a pretty nice improvement from my first online tournament. There are definitely less disconnections from the past.

Actually, I'm pretty sure game freak keeps track of this themselves. If they can keep your game from battling for an hour, they probably can count how many times you disconnected intentionally, and that way keep the disconnectors in their line of sight. However, they have not ban anyone from participating as of now (or so I think...).

Also, it would be cool if some of you guys can provide a live stream of some of your matches. I personally enjoy watching them, and it's a great way to keep track of how your battles go and have a record of some of the matches.

No idea what my team will be yet, tempted to go TR, which means probably amoogus, whatever that blob is, archeops. Just too many options I need to test out first. Imprison mushama w telepathy is a choice, do i wanna go full on TR or a bit of mixed to toy w other TR teams, that kinda thing.

edit: bleh, just realized I'll only have 2 days to battle. Going to be distracted with PMD on the 24th, and going out of townt he 25th.

Once again, gonna run trick room. It's my favorite kind of team!! I wish they ran the tourneys as rotation battles or triple battles, though. The last one taught me how much FUN rotation battling can be, and I like triple battles because it lets me use all six pokes, which I DEFINITELY like.
EDIT: Last second replacement, bringing in Exeggutor instead of Klinklang. Needed something slower/more powerful.

Actually, I'm pretty sure game freak keeps track of this themselves. If they can keep your game from battling for an hour, they probably can count how many times you disconnected intentionally, and that way keep the disconnectors in their line of sight. However, they have not ban anyone from participating as of now (or so I think...).

Unfortunately a number of people have worked out how to get around this hour ban by simply moving out of wifi range so their system disconnects. They can then carry on playing and the innocent player gets a false positive against them. I got banned from the rankings 2 tournaments ago because of this so I emailed Customer Services after that tournament and they explained the whole system to me that they cannot actually work out who disconnects so they blame both people.
