Turn 3 Sweep?!?

So here is a random battle on the pokemon showdown simulators. I expected this match to be a clean sweep after turn 3 but it ended up being really close. I was playing as Paralyze Her with a volt turn team I wasn't quite familiar with while my opponent was using a fairly unorthadox trick room team. This wasn't my best game ever, which is why this was a fun match, but it came down to 18% of a pokemon's hp between winning and losing, so I felt like it deserved a war story. My moves will be in red while my opponents will be in blue.

The War

Battle between Practice and Paralyze Her started!
Practice sent out Smeargle!

Paralyze Her sent out Scizor!

Turn 1

Scizor used Bullet Punch!
Smeargle hung on using its Focus Sash!
Smeargle lost 92% of its health!

Smeargle used Spore!
Scizor fell asleep!

Ok, so my first thought was he would lead off with smeargle for smash passing. It looks like I'm right so far. It's odd that he is level 1, but I'm just going to assume that was a mistake or something. Bullet punch for damage.

Turn 2

Paralyze Her called Scizor back!
Paralyze Her sent out Latios!

Smeargle used Trick Room!
Smeargle twisted the dimensions!

So I was thinking my scarfed latios would be able to outspeed no matter what. Until he trick rooms of course. Why is he level 1 though?

Turn 3

Smeargle used Endeavor!
Latios lost 100% of its health!

Latios used Dragon Pulse!
Smeargle lost 8% of its health!
Smeargle fainted!

Practice sent out Conkeldurr!

That explains why he was level 1. Honestly a scarfer isn't going to be a lot of fun against a trick room team so I'm sacking my latios. His smeargle has pretty much put 2 of my sweepers one step into the grave by turn 3 though, this does not look good for me.

Turn 4

Conkeldurr used Ice Punch!
It's super effective! Latios lost 0% of its health!
Latios fainted!

Paralyze Her sent out Donphan!

I stayed in like I said I would, besides, I really don't want him to bulk up for free. Hopefully Donphan can sponge some hits here?

Turn 5

Conkeldurr used Ice Punch!
It's super effective! The foe's Donphan lost 54% of its health!

Donphan used Knock Off!
It's not very effective... Conkeldurr lost 2% of its health!
Donphan knocked off Conkeldurr's Life Orb!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!

I was curious what his item was, and I have obviously overlooked the ability sheer force on conk more than once. I'm really glad I had knocked his life orb off.

Turn 6

Paralyze Her called Donphan back!
Paralyze Her sent out Heatran!

Conkeldurr used Ice Punch!
It's not very effective... Heatran lost 8% of its health!

Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!
The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

So I really wanted rocks up, Donphan to not take a hit, and to see what fighting type move he was carrying. So switching in Heatran made a lot of sense...

Turn 7

Heatran used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!

Conkeldurr used Hammer Arm!
It's super effective! Heatran lost 99% of its health!
Conkeldurr's Speed fell!
Heatran fainted!

Paralyze Her sent out Celebi!

...Well, it made sense until I watched my health bar drop to nothing. Thankfully he has no spinner and the rocks will rack up some decent damage over this match.

Turn 8

Celebi used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Conkeldurr lost 6% of its health!

Paralyze Her called Celebi back!
Paralyze Her sent out Scizor!

Conkeldurr used Ice Punch!
It's not very effective... Scizor lost 20% of its health!

I felt like psychic was to obvious... So I u-turned... And he didn't switch.... Well, that's another wasted turn for me

Turn 9

Practice called Conkeldurr back!
Practice sent out Bronzong!
Pointed stones dug into Bronzong!

Scizor is fast asleep.

I figured I might as well try to wake up. Or just have a safe switch in to celebi next turn. Luckily for me he switches out

Turn 10

Scizor woke up!
Scizor used U-turn!
A critical hit! Bronzong lost 94% of its health!
Bronzong fainted!

Paralyze Her called Scizor back!
Paralyze Her sent out Donphan!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!
Practice sent out Celebi!
Pointed stones dug into Celebi!

That may have been the luckiest I have ever been in any game I have ever had. This turn was definitely game changing and now it looks like I might have a chance this game?

Turn 11

Donphan used Knock Off!
It's super effective! Celebi lost 9% of its health!
Donphan knocked off Celebi's Grass Gem!

Celebi used Trick Room!
Celebi twisted the dimensions!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!

I know a lot of psychics get trick room and I didn't really have a better option at this point. I also have done a fair amount of switching so I figured he would use anything but a grass type move. So I went for the knock off and was kinda disappointed when he didn't have leftovers or something.

Turn 12

Paralyze Her called Donphan back!
Paralyze Her sent out Scizor!

Practice called Celebi back!
Practice sent out Conkeldurr!
Pointed stones dug into Conkeldurr!

So I figured he was a mono attacker or something weird, maybe using giga drain, heal bell, recover and trick room or something. It wouldn't be the first weird thing he used. So I switched out to scizor to take the giga drain or whatever he had.

Turn 13

Scizor used Bullet Punch!
Conkeldurr lost 46% of its health!

Conkeldurr used Fire Punch!
It's super effective! Scizor lost 80% of its health!
Scizor fainted!

Paralyze Her sent out Donphan!

I didn't see the fire punch coming. I thought I might be able to take a hammer arm, but I just wanted to get some damage off. So I bullet punch spammed. Then I thought, hey, Donphan might be able to take this guy out or something.

Turn 14

Practice called Conkeldurr back!
Practice sent out Crawdaunt!
Pointed stones dug into Crawdaunt!

Donphan used Earthquake!
Crawdaunt lost 53% of its health!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!

He apparently had the same thought and went to his crawdaunt. Earthquake definitely hit hard, but I am not staying in.

Turn 15

Paralyze Her called Donphan back!
Paralyze Her sent out Rotom-Wash!

Crawdaunt used Crunch!
Rotom-Wash lost 62% of its health!

Rotom-Wash restored HP using its Leftovers!
The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

I kinda figured the switch to celebi might be obvious, and I also didn't want to jump into the crunch. Plus I knew I would be able to Ko him next turn with rotom anyways.

Turn 16

Rotom-Wash used Volt Switch!
It's super effective! Crawdaunt lost 34% of its health!
Crawdaunt fainted!

Paralyze Her called Rotom-Wash back!
Paralyze Her sent out Celebi!

Practice sent out Victini!
Pointed stones dug into Victini!

Yay he is finally sacking things. Now if I can finish off his victini this match should be mine. I chose to send out celebi to lure out his victini.

Turn 17

Paralyze Her called Celebi back!
Paralyze Her sent out Donphan!

Victini used Trick Room!
Victini twisted the dimensions!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!

Time to take advantage of his trick room. Earthquake spam here I come

Turn 18

Donphan used Earthquake!
It's super effective! Victini lost 67% of its health!

Victini used V-create!
Donphan lost 59% of its health!
Victini's Defense fell!
Victini's Special Defense fell!
Victini's Speed fell!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!

I was really afraid he would switch in celebi but for some reason that didn't happen. If he switches out now he will just be sacking his victini, so there's no point for him to do that. I don't really care about having donphan anymore since the combo of rotom w and celebi should finish off his last guys once trick room is down.

Turn 19

Donphan used Earthquake!
It's super effective! Victini lost 8% of its health!
Victini fainted!

Donphan restored HP using its Leftovers!
Practice sent out Conkeldurr!
Pointed stones dug into Conkeldurr!

Looks like his trick room worked against him. I really expected him to outspeed me though. Can I sack my Donphan yet?

Turn 20

Conkeldurr used Ice Punch!
It's super effective! Donphan lost 31% of its health!
Donphan fainted!

Paralyze Her sent out Rotom-Wash!

Time to sac stuff until his trick room wears out and sweep the remainder of his team with celebi. Nobody else is really useful now anyways.

Turn 21

Conkeldurr used Hammer Arm!
Rotom-Wash lost 44% of its health!
Conkeldurr's Speed fell!
Rotom-Wash fainted!

The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

Paralyze Her: gg
Paralyze Her sent out Celebi!

Maybe I was a bit overconfident saying gg right here, especially when he was up a Pokemon, but I had a plan that I was going to stick to.

Turn 22

Practice called Conkeldurr back!
Practice sent out Celebi!
Pointed stones dug into Celebi!

Celebi used Psychic!
It's not very effective... Celebi lost 14% of its health!

I just wanted to kill his Conk by now. I really didn't fear his celebi since I figured he had no speed investment and I have u-turn.

Turn 23

Celebi used U-turn!
It's super effective! Celebi lost 47% of its health!

Celebi used Trick Room!
Celebi twisted the dimensions!

Maybe it is time to put in some investment for my celebi's attack stat. I don't even reliable 2hko a celebi with a quad effective move! Luckily I have plenty of prior damage but still.

Turn 24

Celebi used Leaf Storm!
It's not very effective... Celebi lost 30% of its health!
Celebi's Special Attack harshly fell!

Celebi used Psychic!
It's not very effective... Celebi lost 5% of its health!
Celebi fainted!

Celebi restored HP using its Leftovers!

Practice sent out Conkeldurr!
Pointed stones dug into Conkeldurr!

So do you remember Donphan knocking off that grass gem? Definitely saved me a good chunk of damage. I used psychic in case he did something stupid like switch conk directly into celebi. Plus I was convinced I could ko either with psychic.

Turn 25

Conkeldurr used Fire Punch!
It's super effective! Celebi lost 58% of its health!

Celebi used Psychic!
It's super effective! Conkeldurr lost 27% of its health!
Conkeldurr fainted!

Paralyze Her won the battle!

So that was a really close match, physically defensive celebi for the win everyone! In the beginning of the match I thought I had next to no chance but by the end (with a little bit of hax) I managed to pull through. Gg Practice, maybe we will battle again
