I named my Shadow Tag Gothorita 'Nabokov', for Vladmir Nabokov. I may want to nickname my Honchkrow as 'Pimpkrow' and my Metagross as 'i7'.

My Pidgeot is Skylar because it's usually a female, although that name works for males, and it's a pretty name with the word sky in it.
Saren for my Sceptile named after the villain in the first Mass Effect game; I usually name him after a villain for some reason (previous name was Sylar from Heroes)
Scarlett is my Crawdaunt because Scarlett was an old British officer and they used to be called "lobster tails" for their redcoats; also, he's the color Scarlett. x)

I always use nicknames that are based off planets. For example: I named my Samurott; Mar. My Eelektross; Jupis, and my Excadrill; Vente.

Ooh another one I like is Behemoth the Venomoth. A behemoth is "anyting of monstrous size or power", and I used a Venomoth competitively once that was actually pretty good. So that explains it, and of course behemoth has moth in it.

I don't usually give nickname to my pokemons. But when I do is usually pokemons I'm gonna use on wifi battles or pokemons I'm gonna trade or use for trade XD

Yeah, I often go with a theme for my pokemon's nicknames.

I do name my pokemon, however they usually have bad names. I do have the occasional good ideas, though. I named my Arcanine Hobbes even though Arcanine isn't a tiger... whatever. If anyone gets that nickname, they are awesome.

well i have a breloom named "no worries" (if you get the reference you deserve a cookie lol) the name is based off a song made by lil wayne... yea lil wayne... nuff said

i also have a geodude named erosion because it looks like an eroded rock.

Finally i have a banette named voodoo because well its a voodoo doll xD

I carry names game to game. i call my Dragonites Draco as that is what i called my first dragon pokemon, Dratini. i call tyranitars james because i called a t-rex james when i was young :3. i call other pokemon by what they look like. eg. Feraligtr called Gator. Butter. anywayz i also name my starters and legends game names and things i just like, resepctevly (lol cant spell). Again, BUTTER.

I nickname my Pokemon with names that fit them, like Rosaline the Roserade or Beiken the Emboar.
With Legendaries, I translate a fitting English word into Japanese. Like magma for Heatran, space for Palkia, or god for Arceus.

I nicknamed my Pokemon anything I remember/like even there's no connection.I named my Serperior "Kid" from Kaitou Kid and everytime I send him out it likes he is shouting his nickname.My Lucario was "Shinichi" from Detective Conan while my Arcanine was "Firaga" from a name of a magic in Kingdom Hearts and my Vibrava was "Sandman" from the full name of Sandy from Rise of the Guardians.Also,my Umbreon was name "Yveleon" from yvel of Yveltal and prefix -eon for the Eeveelutions.
