If you own a 3ds, you can do it by simply switching your wireless off.

Otherwise known as cybertron. he won 2 nationals in a row, but never won worlds. If you really want to get more involved into the doubles community and learn more about some great players join nugget bridge. NB is a doubles only site where there are weekly tourneys and such. in most of the top 8 of tourneys, almost everyone are NB members xD
i believe in the the last non international tourney all the top 25 players were from NB or so (including me ;D)
    sorry for advertising xD

    @zombies question:
not rain. rain teams are usually outplayed a lot.
TR is easy to counter, so not that.
sun teams are countered by most rain and sand teams, so not that
    sand teams maybe...
tailwind teams are good, but can be outclassed.
that leaves goodstuffs, the teams the have a solution to all of these xD
i am running a foodstuff team, last two times i ran a sand team.

I also remember a time when people hated serebii and assumed that everyone here sucked. lol
So, yeah, there really is no reason to think a community as a whole is bad at some metagame. Every community has their strong sets of battlers as well as a weaker set.

Am I the only one that has A LOT of trouble outplaying rain? :'(

hmmm nugget bridge... naw im goodz :P my goal is to become better than those guys >.> (obviously not in this world lolz)

@joej m good point. sand teams are good teams. but you usually never see much variety in sand because there aren't as many pokes that go with sand compared to other weather :/ which is why some ppl call then "bland" teams xD

So guys, I was thinking just for fun, to go with a mono flying type team for this tournament. However, I'm not really in the know about many good flying types, that is, I usually don't use them. I know I want to try eviolite murkrow and Tornadus T, but that's about it. Any suggestions? Excuse me if this is in the wrong place.

no outplaying rain is a common problem.
when battling your team, i realized that your support mon is insanely frail :liepard...
a bulky thundurus/cresselia/ludicolo does the trick quite easily.
and sorry... i am changing my team again to rain xDDD

I am putting a tag on them based on how they rank. the problem is many of them think like single battlers, which in doubles is not a super good thing to do...
i am sure that many of them are very polished VGC players, just everything i hear about high rankings etc are from NB in doubles xD

@zombie: getting better than those guys is tough. those guys is about 100 regular people who go on, + many hundreds more that dont go on too often. it is kinda impossible to get better than all of them, because there will be one person at least you will be weak to. the person i am weak to it drizzleboy12 O.o the one who showed me what VGC is xD i beat cybertron, and ben7000 (both great players, have won a ton), and drizzle just keeps beating me. there are certain players who are good at playing to your weakness's.

good flying types: zapdos, thundurus(-t), crobat and more!
most flying types can get a purpose in VGC due to them having access to tailwind, a great support move, and some getting t wave.

I have to say that I'm very glad the tournament starts at the beginning of my spring break. XD Can't wait to bust out Cofagrigus again. I've been loving that thing ever since the January International Challenge. And, now that he's in a team he can really work with, this is going to be fun.

All this talk about Smogon, joej m actually has a point. Smogon, in terms of Double Battling, are not your people to look out for. Their metagame is Single battling, and many of them overlook VGC, due to the "limits" (certain banned Pokemon, overpowered strategies in Drizzle+Swift Swim, etc.). Some players are lucky enough to be good a team building, so their teams turn out alright, but generally, they don't really have a Double Battle presence, especially after adding in the fact that most don't tend to play much on their actual game cartridge.

However, there are some who frequent/still frequent Smogon, as well as their new Double Battle metagame (basically just VGC, but using their standard tiers), so that may play a factor in what's to come. But given the overall viewpoint from Smogon, these Wi-Fi tournaments aren't really their thing.
