Prelude to the Eve of Destruction
An uneasy feeling swept the entire region that morning and slowly crept its way into the minds of people in the rest of the world, not a single Pidgey nor Pidove to cheer the morning with the usual chirping. Despite the sinking sensation, the people of the industrial Celestia did as best they could to go about their day.
Celestia, capital of the New Sinnoh region and home to millions of people, is heavily industrialized. Multi-lane highways take to the skies and create routes for hundreds of hover vehicles of all imaginable sizes and for all imaginable functions. LED-lit skyscrapers of metallic finishes and glass along with the massive Pokemon battle arenas create an impressive sight for those who travel by air. People reside in residential structures of all kinds from apartment structures to sophisticated homes to orphanage ghettos ... Complex subway systems interlaced across the city skyscrapers and grand pedestrian bridges make view of the blue sky a rare sight from the busy streets. Pokemon walk alongside their trainers who everyday crowd from running errands, window shopping and simply exploring. Often times the always welcomed sight of Pokemon battles fill the streets.
Deep within the lower district of Celestia, tucked away in a hidden laboratory, is an old man who examines a machine that reads numbers understandable only by him. The machine processes results of some kind into a hologram projection. His eyes widen by what he sees. He quickly paces to his nearby desk and scuffles though papers of less important sorts, even dropping some on the floor by his lack of concern and focus for what he now needs to do.
Desperately he searches for something. "Dammit where is it!" He says. Then he finds a document with numbers, addresses and other data - a list. His attention then switches to a machine with fifteen distinctly shaped holders. With a push of a button, the holders release a glass lid and Pokeballs are revealed.
He picks one up and holds it, carefully examining the shape of the precious Pokeball. Referring to the list he makes calls. He's calling in favors owed to him by friends he helped long ago ...
Here's the deal, there's an old crazy guy named Professor Quercus who thinks the world will end because some insane story foretells it. This guy has spent the last twenty years cooped up in a lab monitoring energy vibrations from the center of the planet. He thinks some monster is soon to wake and destroy the world. What a cook, right? Anyway, it all began because of that dang archeological dig he did with one of your parents and because of what was uncovered. Relics and ancient hieroglyphics found deep within the Ruins of Alpha told a frightening story. Depictions of a beast was shown destroying ancient cities with a terrible fire. Everyone there that day dismissed the symbol as folklore and nothing else, everyone but him.
That day he saved everyone's life. With his unparallelled knowledge of ancient Pokemon symbology he led everyone to safety from the collapsing ruins.
Gratefully indebted to the now professor, everyone bowed a favor in return.
See where this is going? Well, this old nut, Professor Quercus is calling in that favor from your parents who were once archeologists along with him. He's so deeply convinced that the world is ending and that the only way to save it is to embark on some wild goose chase in search of some random artifact. Funny story, he just called your parents asking to "borrow" you. He expects you to travel in his place in search of the mythical artifact that probably doesn't even exists. Good times.
Your parents don't know what the heck is going on but he promised you a unique Pokemon so your parents said, "What the hey, can't hurt, right? Free Pokemon after all."
And so now you are on your way to some old guy's home somewhere in the lower district where who knows what could happen. All because of this deluded person whom you've never even met!
But again, free Pokemon ...

NOTE: This is my first of three SUs for characters which I will play.
Name: Jackson Ryder
Nickname: Jay or JR depending
Location: Old Kanto Apartment Complex
Appearance: Jackson is half Caucasian and half Latino. He's handsome by subjective standards but in no way beautiful nor feminine. His skin is of a light tan complexion and has piercing hazel eyes, adorned by generous eyelashes. He prefers a zero-fade haircut, complete with a line-up and his sideburns arched and pointed down his cheeks. His natural hair color is dirty blonde and has no facial hair. He's not bulky by any means but certainly very well toned at 175 lbs. and measures 6'2''.
Jay wears a grey sleeveless hoodie and sometimes a black fitted cap with a Pokeball logo, hood over cap normally. Loosely hanging from his neck is a stainless steel dog tag with the inscription Jay. He wears black fingerless gloves for better grip of his hover bike but will leave them on regardless. Jay wears his dark grey jeans fitted. His favorite pair of sneakers are black with an imprint of a red stylized Pokeball on each sneaker. Strapped around his waist is a silver utility belt of sorts with six Pokeball holders. Jay also uses a red drawstring backpack to carry supplies.
Personality: Jay is friendly once you have a few words with him despite his arguably intimidating appearance. He's extremely extroverted and will sometimes unintentionally come off as conceited or as a jerk. He values friendship and will do anything for those that gain his trust. Growing up in a rough environment, Jay learned to simply smile at whatever obstacle came his way, it made the pain that much less hurtful. Jay loses interest quite easily and will become bored. He enjoys and lives a fast paced life. Born from a passionate culture, Jay is easily infatuated with girls and enjoys romance in his own way. He wants those around him to experience what he does and will show friends places he discovers or share what's on his mind.
Jay acts rude around the opposite gender mostly because he isn't sure what to say. He hates it when people stare too long without saying anything. He prefers being in groups and folds at one on one conversations because of the more personal contact. When by himself, Jay is very quiet and is often overwhelmed by the feeling of loneliness. Due to the circumstances of his life, Jay has become numb to the sensation of physical pain and can endure great amounts of it.
History: Jackson Ryder became an orphan at the age of two and was immediately placed in the Celestia Villa Orphanage where he spent his entire life until the age of 18 when he ventured on his own. Growing up he tended to get in trouble quite a bit and sometimes took blame for things he didn't do to protect his close friends.
His father, an archeologist, worked with Professor Quercus in various archeological projects and his mother was a doctor. He has no siblings or Pokemon.
Jay managed to get through school just barely, not so much because he's dumb (although certainly intuitive and street smart) but more so because of the lack of interest. Growing up he got in fights simply because he won't admit he's wrong. Many fights led to him later realizing he had no clue why the fight broke out in the first place.
Growing up in an orphanage was particularly tough on him, having very limited access to basic resources until he learned to get things for himself. Jay is a go-getter as a result.
Other: Jay likes Fire and Dragon type Pokemon the most. He enjoys strawberry ice cream but will admit it to no one. Jay is annoyed by egg heads and people who think they know everything. Despite not being the smartest guy, he challenges those obviously smarter than him and even provokes them especially when they sound pretentious. Jay finds Chansey and Blissey annoying because that's all he'd see growing up at the orphanage.
Personality: Charmander or Blaze, as Jay will nickname the Charmander he receives from Professor Quercus, is very similar to Jay in personality. He hates losing and is a very competitive Charmander. He considers himself the strongest player in Jay's team. He smirks quite a bit at other Pokemon and is very tempered.
Distinct Features: Blaze is a shiny Charmander. Jay gives him a red bandana with a black Pokeball logo on it which he wears neatly folded around his neck.

- Obviously all Serebii rules apply.
- No bunnying. Ever. Unless you have permission.
- No OPing or God playing. Be mindful of the context and how you use NPCs.
- Any doubts about a post, let me know before you post to avoid edits, which tend to mess things up for other RPers.
- Extreme inactivity will result in removal. Real life does take priority over this so if you’re going to be away for a while, notify me in advance. I’ll normally let you know in advance if your reaching a limit.
- Have fun!
- This RP is rated PG-14 for some suggestive themes and light violence.
NOTE: I'll be making my remaining two SUs within the next couple days. I still need to work on an SU for another RP ...
EDIT: This RP will be journey based with mission components. Battles will be anime style with exaggerated physics. Without spoiling I'll say that enemies will be compromised of various things. There will not be a level system to prevent things from becoming confusing and tedious. Boss battles will require everyone in the team to complete. You will be able to carry as many Pokemon as you capture but I ask you keep it reasonable. You needn't worry about your 7th or thereafter captured Pokemon going to a PC. There will be limits to how many Pokemon you can use per Boss battle depending on the mission. I hope together we can make this a fun experience!
