    Natalia Denar
    Kale
    Meredith’s Inn

The discussion swiftly deteriorated into a fight between the two guys sitting next to Natalia. Natalia felt uncomfortable sitting in the middle of the two immature hot-headed boys having a fight, but weathered the storm without getting involved. She still managed to get at least some information about others’ abilities. As she had already known, Artus wielded a sword and used Lightning based magic; Keres claimed his specialty was death for he was able to turn the dead into revenants; Ethan used a cutlass, a flintlock and some Wind magic; and all three of them loved to wind Natalia up. On top of that Artus and Keres were clearly unable to work together.

There were also two less problematic: Coelnar, who wielded the axe and Light magic, and Asher, who didn’t share much about his abilities. For his non-human appearance and him seemingly being Keres’ partner he was turning out to be one of the more likeable members of the group. That wasn’t saying much, though, as the majority of the group was mostly focused on annoying her.

One by one, everyone left the inn, until Natalia was left alone at the table. “Don’t take too long, Nat.” were the last words Keres said before going out, so she wasn’t in a hurry. She was quite relieved she was on her own and enjoyed the silence for about a minute before. How are we going to save anyone? We can’t even make it through breakfast without incidents. She briefly considered staying behind and not bothering with the rescue mission. She could stay here in Kale until some other adventurers show up. It wasn’t really an option, she was too proud to let those idiots to influence her decisions. So she eventually followed the others out of the inn. They were standing in front of the door, staring at the map Artus took from Keres.

One by one, the members of the group joined Artus outside, as he observed the map. “So you just gonna stand there and watch ‘im?” Ethan said. Artus turned around noticed the quiet guy form the day before just standing there staring at Artus.

"I don't believe I caught your name yesterday." Artus said to Asher. He got so caught up in planning and whatnot, he completely forgot to ask that quiet hooded girl, and this quiet dark-skinned guy their names. Suddenly Ethan peered over to the map Artus was holding.

“See any decent routes?” Ethan asked. Artus glared at the map, and pointed to the new route he found, and nodded.

"I found this route. It looks safe, and there's no need to travel along the river." He then moved his finger along the route to guide everyone's attention, as held the map for everyone to see. "Although the river does intercept the route here at this point." He said, as he pointed to the purple blur. I have no clue what it is though. It looks smudged. Possibly a coffee spill?" He said, questioningly. "Anyways, whatever, it seems like a good enough route." He said. He then loked at Ethan. "Also, what was that other girl's name that was chilling with you Ethan? You know the quiet one, with the hood?"

    Undine Pandora Aqua
    Meredith's Inn

Undine spoke not a word, primarily because she was afraid of crowds, and got crowdsick pretty easily. Thus, with that, she snuck out, away from the captain and the others for a while, to buy a more 'civilised' dress at a nearby shop. It was only after this where she noted what everyone was speaking of.

    Galvez Prison.

Even she had heard of it. It was a... prison. Of course it was a prison. But it was no ordinary prison. It was said to be so cruel, no one ever comes out. The thought of it terrified Undine. Some members of her extinct tribe may still be there, and that was what worried her the most.

It wasn't just about Galvez Prison, it was about going to Galvez Prison.

As much as people go in there and never came out, she believed that these people knew what they were doing. They were going to be heroes, attempting to save the people in the inpenetratable prison. Seeing that some of her tribe may be in there, she decided to tag along.

"I think I'll go..." after a long while, the aquatic lifeform agreed to venture into the horrifying place. "My name... Undine..." she told the leader of the plan, Artus. "Smudge... suspicious..." she shyly spoke in a monotonous voice again. That smudge seemed too purple to be another safe piece of the map. What could it be? The trooper's hideout? A less significant prison? Maybe she was just being pessimistic for a while, so she thought, and thus decided to join the rest.

Artus noticed that the group was missing one person. It was the girl that was hanging out with Ethan earlier last day. Artus had no clue who she was, so it would make sense he asked Ethan her name. “My name…Undine…” A voice spoke from behind. Artus turned around. Speaking of the devil… He thought. Undine had popped up within the group. Artus wasn’t sure how long she had been standing there, but it didn’t matter. “Smudge….Suspicious…” She said. Artus realized she was talking about the purple smudge. Honestly, Artus didn’t think anything was wrong with it, but the way Undine spoke made it sound so….ominous.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s probably nothing Undine.” Artus said smiling. She seemed to be a bit shy, however unlike Asher, she also seemed more timid. Artus turned to the group. We seem to have a pretty good variation in the types of people. He thought. He figured the more variation, the better their chances of survival were. There was no guarantee that they would be safe on this route, but it seemed to be a good choice. “Alright guys, let’s head out.” He said, as the group of travellers headed for the city’s eastern exit. Artus wasn’t sure what their trip had planned for them, but if he knew anything, it was that this battle wasn’t going to be easy.

    ---------------------

    Route to Galvez Prison
    Artus Callum & co.

“Oh god…” Artus lazily walked down the beaten pathway, drops of sweat coming down the side of his head. He wasn’t expecting the day to be this hot, considering it was cloudy just the other day. However this heat was getting to him. They had been travelling for about 2 hours now, and Galvez was nowhere in sight. Did we take a wrong turn…? Can’t be. The route doesn’t meet at crossroads until later. He was starting to doubt his navigation skills. He was debating whether to hand the position to Ethan, who seemed good at this kind of stuff. Artus looked around. The path went straight, with a few nooks here and there, but the whole path was, well, boring. There were trees littered throughout the grasses and some hills, as well as a small house a short distance away. “I need a break guys, sorry.” He said. As the group approached the house, Artus sat down on the grass and leaned his body against the wall in the shade. The house itself was small, and only had one door, but also a second smaller floor. Artus took out his canteen, which was attached to his belt. He had filled it up with water in the morning, and luckily it was still somewhat cold. That’s good stuff. He thirstily took a few sips, and closed it up and put it on the grass. “You guys can have some too. It’s not that cold, but it’s not warm either.” He put his head up against the wall, and rested for bit. There was a silence among the group, probably due to the long walk. He took out the map once again, trying to make sense of their location. “Whatever this purple blur thing is, it’s not too far away. Probably 20 minute walk or so.” He said, as pointed to the map, and directed his finger along the their route. The map obviously didn’t mark any residency, which was why the house they were at wasn’t on the map. However, the house was in an odd area, considering it was so far away from any towns.

I hope they don’t mind that we are resting here. Artus thought. As he got up he took a small stroll around the house, which was covered in shade. As he got to the back of the house a certain scent caught his attention. As he got closer, it became more of a foul stench, which caused Artus to gag. He turned the corner, and saw the grass turning red. There was a body lying on the grass, the body of an old lady. Her arms were carved up, and the clothes were stained red by the blood. The stench was incredibly strong at this point, with flies buzzing around the body. Artus backed away and quickly ran to the group where he kneeled to the ground and vomited. White-ish liquid shot out of his mouth, as it made a puddle in the grass. “Guys…there’s a body back there…” He wiped the liquid caking around his mouth, Artus always did have a somewhat weak stomach. He couldn’t really help it. However, usually he didn’t have a problem with blood, but the way this lady was carved up made his stomach turn. Suddenly, a dagger was thrown right next to the group, and mounted into the ground. Artus tried to get his act together and got up, identifying the point of launch. He frantically looked around, and in a blink, three guys jumped down from the roof of the house. Artus clumsily drew his sword, still shaken up by his upset stomach. He looked at the unknown men. One was muscularly built, and was bald. He was wearing a black, torn shirt, and rag-like pants with black boots. The other two looked exactly identical, like twins. They had short, brown hair, and were wearing no shirts, but the same brown, rag-like pants with black boots. All of them were armed with claws on each hand, similar Keres’, plus daggers attached to their belt.

“I don’t suppose you guys know you’re trespassing, do you?” The bald one spoke. Artus didn’t reply. He started to get a bit nervous, still thinking about the old lady, not wanting the same to happen to him. The bald man sighed. “Look, we run sh*t around here. And now that you’re here, we obviously can’t let you live.” He then turned to the twins. “Get rid of them now. The clan can’t handle losing anymore credibility.” Suddenly one of the twins ran up to Artus, attempting at a slash at his throat. Artus quickly ducked, blocking with his sword, stumbling backwards and landing on his behind.

Dang! This guy is fast! He thought. The other two started to run towards the group as well. “Look out guys, here they come!”

    Coelnar Ellidyn
    Meredith's Inn
    Kale

It wasn't long before the others headed out of the inn as well, and at least they weren't arguing anymore, which, to him at least, was certainly a bonus. They headed out in quick succession, but didn't make very much conversation, apparently just wanting to head out, which didn't surprise Coelnar, who considered himself to be a good judge of character. He had to admit, while their bickering was irritating, it certainly was amusing at times. The first one, Keres' companion, just stood behind Artus, but Coelnar didn't point it out, mainly because Ethan came out a minute or so later, and was the one to do so. Artus turned, apparently undeterred, and asked his name. Before he got an answer, though, he turned to Ethan, asking about the girl in the hood, who promptly turned up a couple minutes later.

She went and spoke to Artus, who she'd clearly marked out as the leader of the group, and spoke to him, so quietly that Coelnar didn't catch anything but her name. Undine, huh? I suppose she's asking to come along as well. Coelnar was slightly nervous about the journey, and still unnerved by that smudge on the map. It was probably nothing, but still, it made him think. He didn't have time to worry, as soon after, Natalia came out, and they were on their way, heading out and towards the eastern gate of the city. Coelnar smiled slightly to himself. No turning back now, huh. I guess we'll have to watch each other's backs. Coelnar had had time to buy a proper sheath for his axe, rather than the straps he'd used on the mountains, so he slung it over his back, and headed out with the group.

    Route to Galvez prison

'Ugh. What is with this heat?" Coelnar muttered. It seemed boiling to him, especially as he'd spent his life in snow-covered mountains, and considered there to be perfectly normal. This? He'd considered Kale to be warm enough, thank you. It was strange, though, how quickly the weather had turned. It had been cloudy for the last few days, and he'd been fine with that. Coelnar liked cloudy, certainly more than he liked this. Not that complaining would change anything as such, but it was nice to get it off his chest, even if he wasn't saying it aloud. Coelnar's water bottle was empty, which surprised precisely no-one. Two hours in this heat? It wasn't pleasant, especially as the others insisted on sticking to the paths, rather than heading into the shade of the forest. Coelnar had given up on convincing them, instead just heading into the trees that bordered the path, so that he was just in sight of the group, but out of most of the sun. He was grateful for Artus's offer of water, but instead disappeared into the woods, and came back with a full bottle of water, feeling refreshed. Still, he was relieved when they found a house, that would present some form of shelter, at least.

When they reached the house, there was something about it that felt a little.. Off. Coelnar had an instinct for this sort of thing. He drifted off in his thoughts for a moment, but was snapped out of it when he saw Artus vomiting into the grass. "Guys.. There's a body back here." that's what he'd said. Coelnar knew there was something wrong, and almost without realising it, he slid his axe out of its sheath. Looking at Artus, it was clear that he wasn't used to seeing death up close. Coelnar had seen it before, mostly animals after hunting, but once.. He shook his head. Better not to think of that now. he thought, and he heard someone talking to a pair of twins nearby. "Get rid of them now. The clan can't handle losing any more credibility." at that, one of them lunged at Artus, aiming for his throat. Artus managed to dodge it, and blocked the attack with his sword, but he was clealy in trouble. "Look out guys," Artus yelled. "Here they come!"

Coelnar looked at the others. "You guys can handle these two, right?" he yelled to them. "I'll go help Artus!" he looked at the man attacking Artus. He moved with a speed that Coelnar couldn't match, and he realised that he wouldn't win a straight fight, so he disappeared into the bushes. "Running, are you?" the bald guy yelled. "We'll catch up with you soon enough." but Coelnar wasn't running. He moved silently through the bushes. Just think of it like a hunt. Be the predator, not the prey. he thought, focusing. The guy attacking Artus launched another slash, and Coelnar realised he didn't have time to sneak up. He ran out of the bushes, and launched a Sunbeam between them, causing the twin to leap back in shock, as Coelnar ran between them, blocking a slash on the haft of his axe. The twin looked startled. It looked like he'd assumed none of them could get past to help. "Get up, Artus. " Coelnar said, his voice low. "I can't fight this alone."

    Natalia Denar
    Kale

Once they were all assembled in front of the inn, they left Kale. Even the quiet girl, who introduced herself as Undine and seemed to be Ethan’s friend, was joining them.

    Route to Glavez Prison

Natalia wiped the sweat off her forehead with a sleeve. As much as she hated ruining her tunic, by having sweat running in her eyes her vision was reduced. They had been walking down this path for two hours and the heat was taking its toll. Why aren’t we following the river again? Whatever happened to voting about the preferred course of action? Even if we come to Galvez we are in no state to fight an army of guards. Well, at least it’s too hot for anyone to bicker like they did this morning.

Artus’ voice interrupted her train of thought. “I need a break guys, sorry.” The most obvious place for it was in the shadow of a small nearby house. Artus sat down and had some water, which he then offered around. Natalia had her own canteen, so she didn’t have to risk getting some disease by drinking form the same flask as the others.

Natalia didn’t notice when Artus went around the corner of the house, but she did hear what he found there. “Guys…there’s a body back there…” After that things happened really fast. All of a sudden three men jumped from the roof and attacked. Two of them, who looked like twins, were led by a muscular bald man. One of the twins targeted Artus, who somehow managed to protect himself by in a duck-block-fall combination. Coelnar was the first to react and jumped to Artus’ help. “You guys can handle these two, right? I’ll go help Artus!”

Natalia noticed the assailants were armed with claws, very similar to the one Keres was wearing on his hand. Did that bastard lure us into a trap? It is his map we’re using, after all.

The other two were charging towards the rest of the group. Natalia drew her swords and extended her right arm. She pointed it towards the badly and enveloped her right hand in mana, which she quickly released as Wind Spiral. The attacker promptly fell to the ground, much like Artus had previously. Natalia grinned slightly, but had to time to capitalise on the man’s vulnerability as one of the twins were already slashing towards her head with his left hand. She repelled the attack with her sword and jumped backwards. Those guys are good. Sadly, it seems unlikely I could hire them.

Natalia then launched for an attack of her own. She went straight at her opponent, aiming at his head with the sword in her left hand as a decoy and planning to stab him in the torso with the other one. The enemy was fast enough to dodge the feint and block the second strike with one set of claws, while using the other to have another slash at her. Natalia barely managed move her left arm enough to intercept it with her bracers. She ground her teeth. Once again she was forced to move back. “Are you gonna just stand there and watch this?!” she shouted to the rest of the group.

    Keres Adrastea
    The Inn

Another person, a hooded girl, joined the group outside of the inn. Artus had decided to go for Galvez Prison. Keres really didn't want to join, but there was something about the name that rang a bell inside him. Maybe he could uncover some answers there? And perhaps he could observe the others powers in case he needed them for himself. He ha not gotten the right first impression like he intended to, but he knew that was something he could work with.

Artus had taken a notice in the newcommer, who introduced herself as Undine. She appeared to be quite shy, and Keres knew the shy ones usually were the strong ones. He should have to keep an eye on her in order to discover what she could do. she appared to be a non-human species like Asher, due to her apperance, but not as big and strong. Artus then gathered the group, and informed them of where they were heading.

    On the road

The small group had been walking for about 2 hours, and Artus complained like a little girl. Seriously? Did they really tire that easily? Artus should know that the prison would be a while away from Kale, as no big adventures have started with "they went to the big prison outside of town" Keres started doubting his choice of allies as they walked around under the blazing sun. Keres was also bothered by the sun, but he didn't whine about it like Artus did. It was not very pleasent, but Keres did enjoy listening to the others complains. Somehow, it entertained him on the trip. In the distance, the group noticed a house. Keres felt a slight relief, but he also felt a little uneasy. Artus went inside, despite the place seeming abandoned.

Standing outside, Keres held up his orb. He still felt uneasy, and it was starting to worry him. “Guys…there’s a body back there…” Artus suddenly shouted as he ran out to them. A dead body, huh? Keres thought. "Maybe.." He started, but got interrupted when a dagger suddenly flew in from somewheer. Artus jumped back and started survying the area. Then, three figures jumped down from the roof of the house. Keres instinctly stepped a few feet behind and pulled opp his hood. The attackers were two slim guys and a bigger one. The slim ones looked like identical twins. Their clothing, however, implied them being nothing but rouge bandits. Keres couldn't help but notice that the twins had clawed gauntlets, almost identical with the one he used himself. Perhaps they knew him..? This call for more observation.

“I don’t suppose you guys know you’re trespassing, do you?” the bigger one said to Artus, who seemed very tormented by something. Exactly what did he see in that house? Artus really seemed nervous. He obviously hadn't been in situations like this before. “Look, we run sh*t around here. And now that you’re here, we obviously can’t let you live.” the big one continued. He then turned to the twins. “Get rid of them now. The clan can’t handle losing anymore credibility.” Clan? they had a clan? Keres was interested now, as the two started moving around with good speed and flexibility. Artus barely managed to avoid what would have been a fatal blow from one of the clawed twins "You guys can handle these two, right?" Colenar yelled to the group. "I'll go help Artus!". Keres smiled as he observed. being amateurs, the attackers could move fast. This clan they were speaking of might contain answers for Keres. He just had to see how things evolved and... *Slash*. Suddenly, one of the twins appeared in front of Keres and slashed into his left shoulder. Ignoring the pain, Keres took his orb and drove it into his attackers back from behind, then sending the orb high into the air, before slamming the attacker down to the ground, imobilizing him temporarily. "Curses!" he said out loud, hating himself for ltetting his guard down. Keres was now really, really angry. "I will decapitate you all!"

    Ethan Daggett
    The Road to Galvez

When others in the group were sweating heavily under the harsh rays of the sun, Ethan was fairing much better. He had plenty experience sailing in the harsh sun so had become quite resistant to it. Clearly Artus didn’t, as he soon needed a break. Although he wouldn’t admit it, Ethan also wanted a short rest, he wasn’t used to walking for so long.
“I need a break guys, sorry.” Artus then sat down on the grass, he laid against a lone building and took a heavy gulp of water from his canteen “You guys can have some too. It’s not that cold, but it’s not warm either.” He then laid it down on the grass beside him.
“Cheers.” Ethan said as he grabbed the canteen, he took a few gulps before placing it back down beside Artus.

Artus then turned a corner around a house; Ethan could hear a slight gagging noise. Artus quickly tuned around and ran back to the group again.
“Guys… There’s a body back there…” He gagged slightly as he spoke. Before Ethan could check it out, a dagger flew past the group and landed in the dirt behind them.
“The hell!?” Ethan shouted, then turning to the direction the dagger came from. There stood a large hairless man; behind him were a pair of identical twins. Each of the three men had fiery look in their eyes.
“I don’t suppose you guys know you’re trespassing, do you?” Said the large bald man. “Look, we run sh*t around here, and now that you’re here we obviously can’t let you live.” He faced the twins “Get rid of them now. The clan can’t handle losing any more credibility” The first of the twins then sprinted towards Artus without a second thought and slashed at his throat. Artus narrowly avoided a grave injury by stumbling backwards and falling over.
“Look out guys, here they come!” Artus shouted as a warning to the group.
“You guys can handle these two, right” Said Coelnar, Ethan hadn’t noticed that he had emerged once again from the trees and bushes “I’ll go help Artus!” He said as he ran towards the first twin.

The next two then charged towards the group but the larger was quickly countered by Natalia. She threw him to the ground with a quick blast of wind magic. The second of the twins then launched an attack against Natalia with his claws, thankfully she managed to avoid being hit.
“Are you just gonna stand there and watch this!?” She shouted to the rest of the group.

Soon enough, Keres was attacked by one of the twins, at this stage Ethan had lost track of who was who. Ethan drew his pistol to take aim at the twin that attacked Keres, but soon enough he saw the large bald man recovered from Natalia’s blast of wind and was back on his feet. Ethan switched target quickly and fired, he aimed for the head, but as it was in the heat of the moment he only managed to hit the man in the upper arm. The man was clearly alerted to Ethan’s presence now, and Ethan was his target. The big bald bastard charged towards Ethan, he looked as if he was attempting to shoulder-barge Ethan. Ethan dodged to the right just as the man was about to make impact, he narrowly avoided being knocked to the ground. The man stumbled slightly as he slowed down, Ethan took this as an opportunity to attack. He thrust his cutlass towards the man’s chest but the man bashed the sword aside by smacked the flat edge with his forearm, it almost slipped out of Ethan’s hand. This surprised Ethan, and in Ethan’s brief confusing the man kicked Ethan in the stomach and knocked him to the ground, Ethan’s sword fell out of his hands. Ethan began backing away from the man and fumbled around for his sword. He grabbed the sword and just as he was about to get back up, the man slammed his fist into the ground, a large pillar of earth quickly shot up from the ground below Ethan, launching him into the air slightly. Ethan reacted quickly and sent a blast of wind downwards, slowing his decent.
There’s no way I can beat this guy alone… Ethan thought. He posed himself for more combat.

    Route to Galvez
    Artus Callum & co.

“Are you just gonna stand there and watch this?!” Natalia yelled, as she held her own against one of the twins. This surprised Artus, considering she needed help the other day fending of the soldiers in the forest.

The bandits were amazingly swift in their attacks. They were perfectly in sync with one another, especially the twins, which were dishing out devastating combos on the group. The bald guy was a powerhouse, keeping Ethan on edge, whilst using what seemed to be Earth Magic. Damn…we’re screwed…Artus thought as he stayed on the ground. One of the twins had slashed Keres on the shoulder, and knocked his orb out of his possession. Asher and Udine however, seemed to have been in the back, trying to avoid the battle. “Get up, Artus. I can’t fight this alone.” Artus looked at Coelnar, who had just saved him, by fending off of the twins. He had shot him with a beam of light, which made them guard, and then he proceeded to block the next attack with his axe. This impressed Artus, as he obviously knew what he was doing, not to mention he was able to make the twins back off.

“Uhhh…right.” Artus hastily got up and readied his sword. His hand became enveloped with mana, and he let loose a bolt of lightning using his Thunderbolt spell, targeting at one of the twins. “What the-“ The twin miraculously dodged the shot, and in the blink of an eye both twins were in front of Artus. Artus widened his eyes, and in that second, the twin kangaroo kicked him in the chest, and then roundhouse kicked him in the face while he was still trying regain ground from the prevous attack. Artus fell to the ground and bled from the mouth. “Sh*t…” He coughed a bit, and moved his tongue around in his mouth to lick up blood. He hesitantly got back up. I’m getting my butt kicked out here… Right then he felt that this would be it. Their survival looked incredibly bleak. Regardless, He readied his sword. As the other twin was busy with Nat, the other one came at Coelnar and Artus, while Ethan tried to fight the bald one. The twin ran up to Coelnar readying a swipe with his claw. Artus quickly raised his hand, and formed a small, bright yellow, glowing square in front Coelnar. As the twin swiped, his hand rebounded off of the barrier, staggering him. Artus quickly let loose another bolt of electricity, this time hitting the twin. The lightning bolt had shocked him, and made a small impact of knocking him backwards to the ground. “Direct hit…” Artus muttered. As the twin tried to get back up, a small wave of glowing, pink-ish flames shot passed Artus and Coelnar, hitting the twin.

“Ahhhhhh!!!” The twin’s scream was short, but the flames had engulfed him for a few seconds, and then became extinguished. Since the flames were controlled by magic, a constant supply of mana was needed to keep the flames going. However, those few seconds were more than enough to give him a good burn. Artus looked back, and noticed it was in fact Keres who launched the fireball. Immediately after, Keres ran up to the twin and stabbed him, and then ripped out his claw, killing him, bleeding profusely. That’s one down… Thought Artus. He then looked at Ethan, who was still fighting the bald guy, and was actually putting up a good fight. Ethan was dodging several attacks, and even managed to dodge the Rock Pillar putting him on edge. However Artus knew the weakness of the twins. Although they may have been fast, their attacks weren’t as strong, unless they were to go for the throat. Not to mention they almost died from one strike of Artus’ Thunderbolt, which in fact, wasn’t the strongest spell he had. Artus quickly readied his sword, and attempted to swing it at the twin who was fighting Natalia, to get him to back off. “Nat, get back! hit them with ranged attacks-“ The twin quickly did a fake out stab, making Artus swing his sword, leaving his body open for an attack. He gave Artus a good kick in the stomach, and although it was covered in armor, it still gave him a good hurting. He got knocked back right past Nat and fell to the ground again. “Damn…these guys and their kicks…” He muttered. Artus slowly tried to get up, bearing the pain of their kicks. As he got ready to unleash another Thunderbolt, a wave of water came shooting out of the side wall of the house, hitting the twin. As the water majestically continued to barrage him, it circled around and finally gave the twin a forceful push into the tree, knocking him unconscious. Artus looked back, and noticed Undine was controlling the water using her hand. She had a stern look on her face, as if she was trying to put all her focus on the water. The water swerved and aimed for the bald guy, and pushed him to the ground. The man got up, as Undine put down her hand, and the water fell to the ground, soaking the grass.

“…This is not good.” The man said. He started to back away slowly, and reached into his pocket. “We’re finished here…” He said as he threw a small spherical object to the ground, which exploded into smoke. A smoke bomb?! That’s so cliché! Artus thought. In a matter of seconds, the man was gone, vanishing in a sheet of smoke, as well as he twin who was lying unconscious. Artus stood there, still in shock about what just happened. There was a silence among the group. Artus put away his sword, and looked at the group. He looked at the house, and saw Asher come outside with a bottle in his hand. As he approached the group, he noticed it wasn’t just any bottle, but a potion bottle. He pointed at the house and gestured at the bottle, obviously meaning he found them inside. Artus took the bottle and took a few sips of it, before passing it along to the others. At least he was doing something.

If that battle was tough, Artus didn’t want to know what was stored ahead of them. “So…should we get out of here?.” He said to the group. He already kind of crewed them over by taking a break there. Besides, Artus didn’t want to risk running into anymore of those guys, seeing as they apparently trespassed into their territory.

    Natalia Denar
    Road to Galvez

The battle was in full swing. The twins were almost flying around the battlefield. One of them was causing a lot of trouble for Artus and Coelnar, while the one Natalia was fighting managed to slash Keres, who came too close, in his shoulder – something Natalia quite enjoyed. Meanwhile, Ethan was being overpowered by the bigger bandit. For some reason, Undine and Asher were holding back and didn’t help out.

Natalia was busy with her battle, so she didn’t know how exactly the others were doing. She did hear a scream, though and then saw in the corner of her eye Keres stabbing one of the twins to death. With his opponent defeated, Artus turned to Natalia. “Nat, get back! Hit them with ranged attacks-“ he said while swinging his sword at the remaining twin, before being kicked to the ground once again. It’s just like yesterday. All that talk and then he can’t do anything.

All of a sudden, a wave of water came from Natalia’s left and washed the bandit away and into a tree, knocking him unconscious. The water appeared to be controlled by Undine, who then focused her attention on the remaining bandit and used the water to push him to the ground. The man, seeing he had no chance of winning, used a smoke bomb to escape taking the still alive twin with him.

Asher brought them a potion bottle, he found in the house. Artus was the first to take a few sips from it, before passing it around. Natalia, who didn’t take any serious hits, opted not to have any, partly because she generally didn’t trust contents of unknown bottles and partly to show how tough she was. “So…should we get out of here?” Artus asked the group. Natalia didn’t say anything. Why should I answer? The last time you asked for suggestions, you chose to do something completely different without proper explanation.

Instead, Natalia sheathed her swords and stepped up to Keres. She put her hand on his shoulder, a perfectly normal friendly gesture, aside from the fact, the shoulder in question was injured and Natalia squeezed it a bit. As Keres groaned in pain, Natalia looked him in the eyes grinning maliciously. “I’m terribly sorry, Ker, I didn’t know you were hurt.” Natalia said with an innocent voice. “I thought you were strong enough to take down the whole Galvez prison on your own.”

    Coelnar Ellidyn
    Route to Galvez Prison

Coelnar's words seemed to bring Artus to his senses, and he got to his feet, launching a blast of lightning at the attacking twin, who managed to dodge it. Coelnar didn't like this. Fighting foes this fast didn't really suit him, but he held his own, being bailed out by Artus when one of them lunged at him with their claws. He knew that they'd be able to dodge in the time it would take him to swing his axe, so this time he fought in a more defensive style. The thing was, speed such as theirs had to come from some sort of enchantment. Either that, or something that wasn't completely human, which he doubted. In the corner of his eye, he saw Artus get knocked to the ground, but he didn't need to do anything. Finally, one of the twins was knocked down by a lightining shot, followed by a blast of flames, though Coelnar was more focused on looking after himself. The next few minutes were a blur. He remembered very little, only a few things; A scream, or a flash of metal, were the only things that stuck in his mind.

It was when he'd fended off the still living twin that he finally regained some semblance of order. A few seconds after, a wall of water smashed into the remaining bandits, first the twin, then the bald one, apparently taking away the last of their will to fight. The bald one apparently chose to leave with some kind of dignity, smashing a smoke bomb into the ground and running, as if he expected to be followed. Coelnar sighed. Such theatrics. They care more about their own dignity than that of their dead.

He looked around the group. Artus had disappeared into the house for a couple of moments, and came out holding a potion bottle of some kind. He apparently thought it would help, and offered some to them. Coelnar raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure that's actually safe?" he said with a sigh. "Not all potions heal, you know, and I'm sure our foes had a few of the kind." he said, obviously declining a drink. "I'm not hurt anyway, apart from a few scratches." he continued, sliding his axe back into its sheath.

"So.. should we get out of here?" Artus said.

Coelnar looked at him. "We should make sure no-one's injured first, and I doubt a few minutes will make much of a difference. If they're going to come after us, we can't outpace them. Though, I don't think they will. They clearly prized their personal honour and dignity above everything else. Knowing that, do you think they'll be eager to tell their clanmates about being defeated by a group of travellers?" he continued, confident in his assumption. He looked over at Keres, who groaned in pain after Natalia put her hand on his shoulder, which, to Coelnar, had seemed slightly sadistic. He walked over, shooting her a piercing glare. "I can fix that for you, Keres, but it'll take a few minutes." Coelnar said. "Just sit still." he said, placing his hand on Keres's shoulder, and starting to heal him.

    Keres Adrastea
    Somewhere...

Keres managed to get a hold of one of the twins, and fiercely ended his life. "One down, two to go" he said, as he readied his claw, expecting a counter-attack. But no one came at him. “…This is not good.” The bigger man said. He started to back away slowly, and took something from his pocket. “We’re finished here…” He said as he threw a small circular object to the ground, which exploded into smoke. A smoke bomb.. Really? Oh well, it was effective.

Afetr the battle was over, Artus hurried into the small house, as if he ewas searching for something, and took something from Asher. He fiddled around inside until he finally came back outside with a dubious bottle in his hand. It appeared to be some sort of poison. Keres was no master alchymist, but he knew a potion from their rather creepy look. He tok a sip, and passed the bottle around, but Keres felt uneasy, and decided not to try it out. He instead backed up a little bit in order to try relaxing his wounded shoulder.

Natalia then came over, and put her arm around Keres' wounded shoulder, like a gesture of kindness, but with malicious purpose, and squeesed. Keres groaned in pain, and she continued. “I’m terribly sorry, Ker, I didn’t know you were hurt.”. She obviously lied, and Keres had to fight the immense urge to rip her throat out here and now. “I thought you were strong enough to take down the whole Galvez prison on your own.” she then said mockingly, and went away. Keres practically boiled with rage, but then Colenar came over to him. "I can fix that for you, Keres, but it'll take a few minutes." he said, reffering to his shoulder. "Just sit still.". The pain eventually started fading, and within minutes, it was completely gone.

After his shoulder was healed, Keres went and found Natalia again. "Hey!" he said, rather emotionless. She turned at him, and he swiftly grabbed her by her throat with his left hand, and pushed her into a tree. He did not care if he hurt her. "I don't care wether you live or die" he said, dead serious. "It is not tactical of me to kill you here now, but your odds are very grim. Once you're of no use to me anymore, I will ensure of your demise myself."

    Ethan Daggett
    Road to Galvez

Ethan continued to brawl with the larger of the three men. Ethan actually causing any real damage seemed unlikely for now, so he continued to stall the brute. Out of the corner of his eye Ethan saw Keres thrust his claw-like weapon into the chest of one of the twins. That was one down. Soon enough the men seemed to realise that they were heavily outnumbered. They vanished in a cloud of smoke.

Ethan emerged from the smoke, coughing slightly. He saw that Artus now had a potion and was passing it around the group. Ethan took it from Keres’ hand, he looked it over, it looked good to him. He only took a small amount as his injuries were quite light, he passed it on once again.

Ethan could see that Keres’ shoulder was bloodied; his robes were dyed red slightly. Natalia walked over to him and proudly placed her hand tight on his wound.
“I’m terribly sorry, Ker, I didn’t know you were hurt.” She said sarcastically “I thought you were strong enough to take down the whole Galvez prison on your own.” She squeezed his shoulder and walked away. Not long after Coelnar offered to heal Keres’ wound, he did, the wound appeared to be mostly closed up now. Keres walked swiftly over to Natalia afterwards.
“Hey!” He shouted to her. Kere’s then grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and pinned her up against a tree, Ethan watched, intrigued.
“I don't care whether you live or die" he said coldly, almost no emotion in his voice. "It is not tactical of me to kill you here now, but your odds are very grim. Once you're of no use to me anymore, I will ensure of your demise myself."

Ethan thought for a moment about intervening and pulled Keres away, but Natalia did start it, and Ethan didn’t want to come across as two soft. He observed from a distance slightly, if it did look as if one was going to seriously damage the other. Not liking your companions was one thing but fighting them was a whole different story. Ethan had plenty experience with mutiny, this certainly wasn’t the worst he’d seen.
“I don’t like ‘er either Keres but you ought to not kill her!” Ethan shouted over to the pair “That’s a pretty sh*t way to earn trust, you know!” Ethan turned away from them to see the others.

“So… Should we get out of here?” Artus asked the group.
“We should make sure no-one's injured first,” replied Coelnar “and I doubt a few minutes will make much of a difference. If they're going to come after us, we can't outpace them. Though, I don't think they will. They clearly prized their personal honour and dignity above everything else. Knowing that, do you think they'll be eager to tell their clan mates about being defeated by a group of travellers?"

Ethan walked over to observe the dead body of the twin, he checked it for look but there was nothing particularly useful. Ethan then walked over the dead body of the woman behind the house. The very same body that had caused Artus to vomit earlier. Ethan looked it over, it had been cut in several locations and her clothes were almost fully stained with blood. What the hell would they need to kill an old woman like this for?

    Ethan returned to the group.
“Alright, I’m good to go.” He said, “Not much reason to hand around any longer.”

Coelnar interrupted Natalia’s payback and glared at her with disapproval. Come on, he was asking for it the whole time. “I can fix that for you, Keres, but it’ll take a few minutes. Just sit still.” Coelnar said to Keres and started healing his shoulder with magic. Natalia walked away slightly disappointed she was interrupted so soon; she felt like she could make some progress in her relationship with Keres. Can’t we just leave him as he is? Maybe we can teach him some manners before fixing him.

As expected Keres wasn’t exactly thrilled by the way Natalia was treating him, so he came at her as soon as her was healed. The severity of his reaction, however, took Natalia by surprise. He approached her from behind saying “Hey!” in his usual emotionless voice. But as soon as Natalia turned around to face him, Keres grabbed her by the throat and slammed her into a tree. She banged her head pretty hard in its trunk, but her biggest pain was standing right in front of her. “I don't care whether you live or die” he said. “It is not tactical of me to kill you here now, but your odds are very grim. Once you're of no use to me anymore, I will ensure of your demise myself.”

There was something in his voice that convinced Natalia he really meant it and it scared her. But backing down would be admitting defeat. “I don’t like ‘er either Keres but you ought to not kill her!” Ethan shouted over to the pair “That’s a pretty sh*t way to earn trust, you know!” She could hear Ethan trying to calm Keres down, but Natalia didn’t want that. She wanted to show Keres and everyone else she shouldn’t be messed with. She looked down trying to give the impression of being defeated while simultaneously distributing mana all around her body. Then she gave it a spin before releasing it in a form of Whirlwind Cloak, which pushed Keres a couple of feet away from her and knocking him off balance. Natalia swiftly drew one of her swords and kicked Keres in the chest to knock him to the ground. She then pointed the sword at his throat. “You’re not so tough now, are you? Now start behaving like a normal human or I will end you.” After ending her spell and sheathing her sword she walked away to join the others. She was quite shaken by the whole incident, but tried her best to look calm and confident.

    Route to Galvez
    Artus Callum & co.

After the small brawl, Natalia went up to Keres and pressed her hand on his shoulder making sarcastic remark. Artus laughed a bit, but he knew Keres was hurt, so he quickly tried to hide it. Fortunately, Coelnar knew some healing spell and started to to heal his shoulder. However, things took a turn from there. Keres quickly pinned Natalia on the tree, threatening to kill her. “I don’t like ‘er either Keres but you ought to not kill her!” Ethan shouted over to the pair “That’s a pretty sh*t way to earn trust, you know!” Artus couldn't understand why they hated Natalia. It was actually opposite for Artus, as he hated Keres for being so arrogant. At least Natalia's complaining was tolerable.

"Keres, stop it! She didn't mean it!" Artus shouted. Surprisingly, she was able to hold her own, and able knock Keres down to the ground, overpowering him. She pointed her blade towards him, this time threatening him instead of the other way around.

“You’re not so tough now, are you? Now start behaving like a normal human or I will end you.” She said, walking away, as Artus ran up to break up the quarrel. But Natalia was already turning around, this time keeping a calm expression, probably trying to keep her cool. He looked at Keres from a few feet away, lying on the ground. He kind of felt bad for Keres, but at the same time he got what he deserved, due to starting the death threat.

"C'mon Nat." Artus said as he grabbed Natalia's wrist and tugged her away from the direction of Keres. "Leave him be, he got what he deserved." He said to Natalia, speaking somewhat seriously and quietly. As Artus joined up with the rest of the group, he didn't speak. The situation had seemed to had taken a dire twist in the form of conflict within the group. If this kept up, one of them might actually end up dead, and it will be from one of their own. "Alright, let's go..." He said. He didn't bother putting on his usual enthusiastic voice, as the situation was already somewhat bleak.

    ------------------

    Brimstone Cave
*Notable creatures: Mainly insects, spiders, and bats.
    Artus Callum & co.

The sun's rays were getting hotter, and it didn't seem like it was going to be letting down. Artus took a few sips of his canteen, while looking at the map. It was farther away than I thought... Of course Artus' navigation skills were wrong once again. He had told the group the purple blob was only twenty minutes away, but obviously they hadn't ran into any sort of blob. Unless it was just some sort of stain after all, in which case they would keep going. However, as they went on, the surroundings after the house incident had drastically changed. Unnoticed by Artus, the path started to get narrower, along with significantly more trees and large boulders. Artus took a look around, and saw several hills shaping the landscape into an almost rocky terrain, or similar to plateau. Darn! Where the Hell are we? He focused on the map, and then looked ahead. He saw in between two hills, was a entrance of sorts. As they walked forwards some more, Artus saw it was the entrance to a cave.

"Well, apparently, this purple blur thingy is a cave...I guess." Artus shrugged, as showed everyone the map. He honestly had no clue, but he figured this was it. He looked at the cave and saw webs an other string-like stuff littered all over the entrance of the cave. Artus felt a slight shiver. He didn't mind bugs, as long as they weren't the freaky hairy kind, or spiders. He was really hoping the cave wasn't swarming with them. He looked around for some other way around the cave, but obviously there was nothing. Even if they were to go around, time was of the essence. "Well the quicker we get through this, the better." Artus said to the group as they walked through the web/string- infested entrance. Artus took out his sword and swung it at the webs to slice them away, and making it easier for the group to get through as well.

Once inside, Artus immediately smelt the odor of rotten eggs. Oh god...why does it smell so bad? He had no clue what it was, but it was disgusting. Bearable, but disgusting. "Keres, you let one loose didn't you?" Artus cracked a joke at Keres to lighten the mood a bit, plus he found it kind of fitting to make the joke about him. As they got a little bit farther into the cave, they heard the sound of rushing water. It was a bit far, but the echoes through the cave made it certain it was water. Surprisingly though, the cave wasn't as dark as one think. There were rays of sunlight peering through cracks and whatnot, not to mention there was some sort of glowing fungus growing the rocks. As the group went in farther, the cave split into two ways. There was a path that led to the left, one that led straight ahead. "Ummm...which way should we go?" Artus asked the group.

    Keres Adrastea
    Brimstone Cave

After experiencing a humiliating, yet necessary defeat to Natalia, Keres kept a bit behind the others. The mood seemed to be pretty down, and he wondered if he would just kill them all off right away and find his answers somewhere else. The sun was shining, and now, Keres was so warm that he had removed his cape completely, laying it over the body of the old woman from before, on Artus request, as he was tossing it away anyway. If he needed a new one, he could just kill someone and steal their hoods.. Natalia seemed very overconfident after their small encounter earlier, but she also seemed to be frightened. Perhaps his words got through her thick skull after all. Her threat did not seem as serious as he had anticipated, but probably because she was inexperienced in threatening due to all of her emotions.

The group had entered a rougher terrain, and the heat did not make it anything easier for them. Artus was reading the map Keres had obtained earlier, but he s\did seem rather confused as of where they were. "Are we.. lost?" Keres asked. First thing he had said in hours, after the defeat. He didn't get an answer. "Well, apparently, this purple blur thingy is a cave...I guess." Artus said finally, after getting further ahead. He showed the map to everyone, and Keres saw that yes, it was a cave, "Good work detective useless!" he said. "Well the quicker we get through this, the better." Artus said, apparently ignoring him. He led the group through a small entrance fileld with cobweb and whatnot. "Good. Let us walk through a passage that nobody have walked in for a very very long time!" Keres said to himself. As no one was paying any attention, he could pretty much say whatever he wanted.

In the cave, Artus immediatly felt a disgusting scent. Whatever it was, he blamed it on Keres. "Keres, you let one loose didn't you?" he said jokingly, trying to lift the mood hich just went darker and darker. Not that the joke helped anything. "I hope you die!" Keres said. Suddenly, the group heard the sound of water from somewhere deep inside the cave, and the goup noticed that the cave wasn't so dark as they would have anticipated. Sunlight somehow entered through cracks in the celing, and some sort of magical energy, manifested in the form of a variety of pulsating glowing mushrooms. But then, they came to a split end which parted the road in two. "Ummm...which way should we go?" Artus asked. He obviously wasn't expecting that.

    Natalia Denar
    Road to Galvez

As Natalia was walking away from Keres, Artus approached her and grabbed her by the wrist and tugged her even further away from Keres. Natalia was already getting ready to wriggle free and tell him off for grabbing her, when she realised Artus wasn’t doing it in a violent manner. Conversely, he seemed to try to calm her down and show his support. “C’mon Nat.” Artus said quietly. “Leave him be, he got what he deserved.”

Natalia was relieved and almost grateful to hear that. In this case being called Nat didn’t bother her that much. After all, Artus seemed to be the only one on her side. Ethan and Coelnar had already let their opinions on the matter be known, while the others were staying out of her conflict with Keres. “Thank you, Artus.” Natalia whispered. She didn’t know why the others didn’t like her, but she was glad Artus seemed to have no problems with her.

    Brimstone Cave

As they walked on, Natalia was keeping close to Artus, while Keres was sulking a few steps behind the rest of the group. From time to time Natalia glanced at him just to make sure he wasn’t about to attack her. The path was getting narrower and eventually led them to the place represented on their map with the purple blur which turned out to be a cave. Natalia for one quite liked the idea of going through the cave as it was probably a lot cooler than the surface. “Well the quicker we get through this, the better.” Artus said, confirming they would indeed pass through the cave. He slashed his sword through the webs to make it easier to pass.

As soon as they entered, Natalia changed her mind about her preferred way. The smell inside was so awful, she would trade it for the heat right away. Artus tried to lighten the mood, which had been tense from the death threat business, with a joke. “Keres, you let one loose didn’t you?” Natalia chuckled, although she wasn’t sure winding Keres up even further was a smart thing to do. “I hope you die!” Keres’ response showed her concern was justified. She wasn’t concerned about facing Keres in a fight, but she was afraid, he might try something underhanded.

As they proceeded deeper in the cave, they could hear water running somewhere in the cave. The cave surprisingly wasn’t dark and dead, but was illuminated by the sunlight passing through the cracks in the ceiling and home to some glowing mushrooms that were nothing like Natalia had ever seen. Suddenly Artus, who was leading the way, stopped and Natalia nearly bumped into him. They came to a point where the cave split into two ways. “Ummm…which way should we go?” Artus asked. It seemed that this wasn’t on the map. Natalia had no answer and no idea how to find out which path to choose. However, she was sure she would back Artus’ decision as a way of returning the favour.

((OOC: Yay. 2,000 words, anyone? My fingers hurt now.))

    In Front of Meredith’s Inn
    Kale
    Asher Ikakois

Asher heard footsteps of a person coming up from behind him, but he did not turn to look. Instead, the purple spot on the on map distracted him. ’Why is that spot purple? Is there a large concentration of magic?’ It might have been merely a food-stain, but purple was an unusual color. ’The ink might have stained it if a liquid spilled on it, but the surrounding areas are green and nothing mixes with green to become purple.’

Ethan interrupted his thoughts, saying, “So you just gonna stand there and watch ‘im?” Asher looked back at the captain and stepped away from Artus to enable him to see the map.

’Ah, that was a mistake. Next time I must remain out of the way,’ Asher thought, displeased with himself. It was best for him to remain unnoticed and not remembered, for people rarely approved of what he was. Constructs were supposed to be unthinking and not stubborn, and Asher fulfilled the second wish, but it generally crept people out that he was able to think. ’I had better not reveal my weakness to water,’ he said to himself, and then noticed something about the map and the purple spot – it was near water. ’Water…I hope that we will not have to swim; my body will be ruined if we do.’

Soon after Ethan said that, the other party members followed Asher’s, Coelnar’s, and Artus’ leads, going outside to look at the map. Well, Coelnar was off in his own world, searching for something that he could not find. Artus noted Asher’s presence and said, “I don't believe I caught your name yesterday.”

Asher bent down and grabbed the metal plate from his bag and inscribed his response upon it, “I am called Asher Ikakois.” It was simple, but revealing much more about himself might give them hints as to what he was – Aime was fairly well-known for producing magical wonders, so a thinking construct might not be that much of a stretch.

“See any decent routes?” Ethan asked, engrossed by the map. The route that Artus seemed to want to take crossed a section of water and Asher was not enthused with the idea. Asher thought about skirting around the other side of the river, but that increased the likelihood that they would become lost, so he did not suggest that idea.

“I found this route. It looks safe, and there's no need to travel along the river." He held the map in such a way that everyone could see, clearly or not, what route his finger was tracing. "Although the river does intercept the route here at this point," he said, as he gestured at the purple spot. “I have no clue what it is though. It looks smudged. Possibly a coffee spill? Anyways, whatever, it seems like a good enough route," he said. Ethan was the next target of his gaze as he said, "Also, what was that other girl's name that was chilling with you Ethan? You know the quiet one, with the hood?

Asher more than a few misconceptions about the purple spot, but those were communicated only through the cryptic message of “Purple is an expensive dye,” on his metal plate. That flashed for only a few seconds and was then gone; the metal remained blank for the rest of the talk.

The blue-haired person echoed Asher’s suspicions about the spot, but the party was soon off to the prison.

    En-route to Galvez Prison
    Asher Ikakois

Their walk was long by Asher-standards, for he had been raised in a town that was fairly small and civilized. It had been weird at times, but never had any grueling marches. The construct was barely breathing more than when he had started, but Artus was dripping sweat. Keres, despite his dark clothes, seemed to be fine.

The group approached a house. Asher could smell an intriguing scent from where he was, but he could not identify it. It smelled slightly sweet, yet it reminded him of rotten meat. He was curious, but he would not take the lead in investigating it and so followed the rest of the party to the house. The other members leaned against the side of the house, in the cool shade, while Artus went around the back of the house. There, his curiosity got the best of him and he went to explore.

’I know that this is breaking and entering, but the law does not apply here,’ he thought to himself, trying to justify their break-in. ’Perhaps this is a house for people who are way-laid, and this was its intended purpose.’. Still, the house was subject to Asher’s suspicion, but his need to explore was far more powerful than his sense of self-preservation. He held his bag closer to him and went to investigate the house.

He ventured into the kitchen; nothing of interest was there in the immediate vicinity, so he decided to check out the pantry. It was a walk-in pantry and partially filled with foodstuffs, but some of them looked rather dubious. There was another compartment in the lower half – it was a cabinet. One of the doors was slightly jammed (the other was firmly stuck), yet Asher had very little difficultly opening it. Inside, there were many varieties of potions; Asher kneeled down and stuck his head and the top part of his torso inside it to investigate further. Unfortunately, the leather strap of his bag got caught on a hook on the inside of the cabinet near the door. He took no notice of that and continued to search the cabinet. He felt several different types of bottles, but he could not identify them all by touch – only one. It was the most common variety of potion and was always packaged in that sort of bottle.

Unexpectedly, Artus yelled, “Look out guys, here they come!”

Asher was surprised and nearly jumped into the air, except the cabinet’s top was in the way and he ended up hitting his head. ’Ow. At least I cannot get concussions, but who is coming?’ he thought, without frantically trying to escape the cabinet. ’Are they the owners of the house? I hope that we have not disturbed them.’ He paused for a bit to wonder, and then he realized what the scent he had smelled earlier was. ’I know that odor from before…or at least how it’s described in books – slightly sweet, but sickening. It’s a body.’ He knew about the world from books and people that he had met, so it was not wonder that he had guessed the origin of the scent so slowly.

Yells rang out from outside and Asher could hear some bits and pieces of originally-coherent sentences, but now all he could understand was that there was fighting.

He attempted to hasten his escape from the cabinet, but was prevented by the hook that had a hold of his bag. ’Why is there a hook here? If the owner of the house wanted a convenient bottle-opener, then shouldn’t they put it in a drawer?’ he thought, incredulous. He moved his hand to investigate the hook and was stopped by the amount of bottles. ’If I move my arm to get my bag’s strap untangled, then I’ll knock a few of the bottles over, and if they break or spill their contents will be everywhere. I do not know what they contain, so being cautious would be best. I know that I’ll be of no help if I am to fight, so this is probably the best thing for me right now.’ He gingerly maneuvered the bottle with the healing potion in it to a place where he could grab it easily if he got out, and then shuffled other bottles into the space that it left behind. He did that several times over, and by the time that the fighting was done, he was free to unhook the bag. He did so, took the potion, stood up, brushed himself down, closed the pantry door, and nearly ran outside.

Everyone seemed exhausted, and they would not be eager to read, so Asher pointed at the bottle and then back to the house, attempting to indicate that he had found the bottle in the house. Artus thanked him for the potion and took several swigs from it before passing it around the group. ’I hope that he is not sick; if he is, then we’ll have other problems on our han—wait! What is Keres doing?’ He stared at Natalia deliberately placing her hand upon Keres’ shoulder, which seemed to be damp. His clothes around the shoulder were soaked in a liquid, and Asher knew that he was hurt. The necromancer did his best to hid that, but Coelnar noticed and healed him.

Natalia attempted to touch Keres again and triggered a reflex in him, leading to her being pushed up against a tree-trunk and Keres threatening her. She cast a spell that blew Keres away. He got up as a cat would, trying to shrug off the humiliation and pretending that it had never happened. She looked smug, and Artus hurried over to the pair to halt any fights that might break out. Keres said something that ticked both off, as usual, and then the group was off.

    Brimstone Cave
    Asher Ikakois

The sun’s heat was relentless as the group walked on, and tempers seemed to be flaring, which did not bode well. The path to the house had been a wide, comfortable one, but it seemed to be shrinking, which worried Asher. They were headed into territory that was not often traversed. He wanted to know what lay to the side of the path, but going off to explore was probably a dumb idea, now that they had established that there were enemies. As they walked, their surroundings changed, becoming rockier, drier, and bumpier. Between two hills lay the mouth of a cave. There seemed to be no paths leading away from the cave, only a path leading into it. The entrance of the cave was suspicious, but Artus said, “Well, apparently, this purple blur thingy is a cave...I guess.” Asher did not like that “…I guess” part one bit.

The spider webs covering the mouth of the cave were easily disposed of by Artus’ sword, and, as they went deeper and deeper into the cave, Asher got more and more suspicious. But, as evidenced before, as the construct gets more and more suspicious, he starts to itch more and more for exploration. He wanted to know why there were giant webs covering the cave, why it smelled strange, and why the heck there was a path through it and not around it. The whole cave smelled like rotten eggs, which Asher thought did not bode well, and he pinched his nose to keep the scent out. Having better senses than humans came at a price.

Keres was being sarcastic and not helping their efforts, but Asher attributed that to having been injured, walking in the hot sun in dark clothes, and having had a small quarrel with Natalia. Artus apparently smelled the same thing that Asher did, and said, “Keres, you let one loose didn't you?” Asher began to move to immediately behind Keres to prevent him from launching an attack on Artus, but he seemed to have better self-restraint than that.

His response proved that he could, miraculously, communicate with words. The necromancer said, “I hope you die!” Asher grew even more worried that Keres would…assist in Artus’ demise.

The farther in the cave that the party went, it got darker, but only to a point. As soon as they could hear water, the cave began to get lighter. Asher suspected that it was because the group’s eyes had begun to adjust to the low-light conditions, but gaps disproved him. The water sounded as if it was a stream, but Asher thought that it might be the cave amplifying the sound. There was fungus on the ground, and Asher knelt down to poke at one. He was extremely curious as to what species it was, but he would have to take samples now and identify later, as they were coming to a fork in the path. He quickly broke some of the fungus off and placed in one of his bag’s compartments.

“Ummm...which way should we go?” Artus asked, stumped. Asher stayed behind him and remotely examined both paths. His eyes widened as he realized the implications of a stream underground, and the dry and hilly area around the cave. There was potential for a flash flood, so he desired to get as far away from the water as he could. The water was bad. At this distance from the water, though, he could not tell down which path the water was.

He dug around in his bag and pulled out his plate of metal. Quickly, he used his magic to inscribe, “We should thoroughly consider our options before deciding.” ’That is not what I truly mean to say, but that is perhaps the most polite thing to say, now. I hope that whichever path that we take is the one without water.’ He stood still, holding the metal, not forcing anyone to read it.

    Fabian Alabond
    Brimstone Cave

“Where is it?” A voice filled with impatience asked. “It has to be here.”

Light shuffling and laborious grunts could be heard if one listened closely. Fabian continued searching the area of the cave that he was in. He stopped near the opening that leads to the beginning of the cave. He quickly scanned the area until his eyes locked onto a boulder nearby. Maybe it’s under here. Fabian walked over to the rock and pushed with all of his, which wasn’t much considering that he wasn’t very strong physically. The boulder eventually gave in, as it was pushed by Fabian towards the opposite wall. A large sigh of disappointment escaped Fabian as he looked where the boulder once was positioned.

“Great. I found nothing but dust.” Fabian said to himself as he kicked a small rock down the path. He turned away and began heading in the direction from once he came. He mumbled the entire way back, complaining about not finding the artifact that was supposed to be in this cave.

“I should have known better than to follow a rumor.” Fabian muttered as he continued walking. “What a waste of time.”

Fabian was getting closer to the cave’s entrance, but he realized that he wasn’t alone. He heard voices. He was certain that they were not of his own imagination this time. Fabian stopped in his tracks as he heard someone shout, “I hope you die!”

Fabian heard that there were bandits that wandered about near this cave, so he was definitely suspicious of his surroundings. Fabian was unsure of who the voices belonged to, so he hid along the shadows along the wall, not that it mattered. His clothes were much too gaudy to blend in with the shadow. AS he neared the corner that would lead to the mouth of the cave, he peaked around the corner to get a glimpse at the owners of the voices. Fabian saw a small group of varied individuals. They must be looking for the artifact as well…Or they could be the bandits. Fabian placed a hand on his weapon as he approached the group.

“If you are here for the artifact, good luck finding it!” He called to the group. “I’ve been looking for it for a few hours, now.”

    Brimstone Cave
    Route to Kale
    Artus Callum & co.

Asher took out a metal plate and inscribed a sentence onto it, holding it up for the group to see. “We should thoroughly consider our options before deciding.” Artus looked at Asher and nodded. It made sense to him. Sure he wasn't the best the navigator, but Artus knew that if the path happened to lead to a dead end, then could easily just turn around and retrace their steps back to this point, and then take the other path.

"Hmmm..." Artus put his hand on his chin, trying to find think which way to think. Time was of the essence, so if they took the wrong path, then it was obviously a waste of their time. "Well, considering that the river seemingly runs through this cave, I would assume that either way we would have to cross it at some point." Artus tried to act smart, but deep inside, he had a feeling he was fooling nobody. "I say we take the left path. It seems like a good way to go." He pointed at the path while looking at the group. The path was covered in a slight darkness making it hard to see what lay down the cavern. Suddenly, Artus turned his head and looked at the path, and saw someone emerging from the darkness. "Huh? Someone else is here?" He said. The person was tall, like Artus and Ethan, and had head full of brown, curly hair, and wore a blue tunic. Artus got ready for another bout, by readying his sword, until the person spoke.

"“If you are here for the artifact, good luck finding it!” He called to the group. “I’ve been looking for it for a few hours, now.” Artus gave a confused look to the boy. He had no clue what 'artifact' he was talking about, and was possibly thinking that the stink of the cave had finally gotten to someone's head.

"Uhhhh...artifact?" Artus questioned. "We're not...here for an artifact..." Artus said hesitantly, still confused by the artifact. "Actually, we're here on a rescue mission." He said. "I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to....Galvez prison to save her..." As Artus spoke, he realized how dumb he sounded, by telling a random stranger they were going to Galvez Prison. It was already dangerous enough, not to mention it sounded kind of unbelievable. He really had to be more careful with these kind of things. "Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" Since the guy was already there, Artus may have just asked him for directions, as he didn't want to waste anymore time leading the group in pointless detours using his poor navigational skills.

    Coelnar Ellidyn
    Brimstone Cave

Nothing much happened for the next couple of hours. As Coelnar had expected, the bandits hadn't followed them; whether out of pride or a belief that they were unmatched was unknown. Not that it helped the atmosphere. Ever since Keres and Natalia's little fight, the mood hadn't been exactly great for conversation. Coelnar hadn't had much to occupy himself other than watching the scenery gradually changing, becoming more rugged, dotted with boulders and patches of gravel. These features became more and more obvious, and were the only interesting thing in the landscape. After a while, they reached the entrance to a huge cave. "Well, apparently, the purple blur thing is a cave, I guess." Artus said.

Coelnar looked at him. "Uh... You don't say?" he said irritable after many hours in the heat. "I think most of us figured that out, Artus." he said. "I suppose we're heading in, then." he continued. It would probably get them to Galvez faster, but you never knew what the insides of these places were like. It could be a maze, for all they knew, but he didn't bother to point it out. They'd figure it out for themselves, no doubt. Coelnar didn't exactly mine heading in, though. At least they'd be out of the heat, which was always a blessing. Not that the eliminated his doubts. He shrugged, and followed the others in, shaking his head.

When he came in, the first thing that hit him was the smell. It was horrible, but he shrugged it off. He'd soon stop noticing it, anyway. Artus tried to lighten the tension, blaming the smell on Keres. Who overreacted, just a tiny bit, responding angrily. "I hope you die!" he said, and Coelnar shot him a withering look. "Really, Keres?" he muttered. He wasn't normally confrontational, but even he was getting annoyed with Keres. In the distance, there was the sound of running water, conveniently near a fork between a couple of pathways in the cave, because, you know, it couldn't just be a cave without anything like this, could it? That would be much too simple.

Asher contemplated the split for a moment, and then lifted his piece of metal, which changed so that it had writing scrawled on it. "We should thoroughly consider our options before deciding." it said, and Coelnar nodded in agreement. Though, something seemed to be worrying Asher, though Coelnar couldn't figure out what. Still he would probably tell them if it was anything major. He certainly seemed to be one of the more sensible members of the group. At least, he didn't get mixed up in the fighting.

There was another noise in the distance, masked by the sound of the water. "Footsteps.." Coelnar murmured. It sounded like just one person, though. A shout came down from one of the paths, followed by a man in a blue tunic, with a mop of brown hair. "If you're looking for the artifact, good luck finding it!" he said. "I've been looking for it for a few hours, now." This seemed to confuse Artus, but Coelnar wasn't surprised. Caves like this often had a story of something of the sort. Of course, most of these stories were fake, made up by travellers who wanted to impress people. The man was likely on a wild goose chase.

"Uhhhh...artifact?" Artus said. Yes, he was definitely confused. "We're not... Here for an artifact..." he continued. "Actually, we're here on a rescue mission. I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to.. Galvez prison to save her.."

Coelnar gave him a look. "Yes, let's tell the random stranger everything." he muttered sarcastically. "Great idea. For all we know, this guy works for Diaz." he said, shaking his head. "I'm just saying, Artus. You can't trust everyone, and the cloer we get to Galvez, the more dangerous things'll get."

Artus continued talking to the stranger, ignoring Coelnar. "Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" Can someone explain why he's doing the navigating again?

    Fabian Alabond
    Brimstone Cave

“Uhhhh…artifact?” The young man seemed to be confused b y Fabian’s comment about the artifact. “We’re not…here for an artifact…”

Fabian raised an eyebrow in interests. He didn’t understand why anyone would willingly travel into such a foul-smelling, dark cave if not for an artifact. Well, there are several of them, and they all have weapons. Maybe they are a traveling group of mercenaries. The boy soon relieved Fabian of his curiosity once he began to speak, "Actually, we're here on a rescue mission. I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to....Galvez prison to save her..."

“Are you kidding?” Fabian asked in disbelief. He knew the princess was captured, but he wasn’t foolish enough to go after her. Her brother was smart enough to stay back and cut his losses, but Fabian admired the groups idealistic approach to the situation.

One of the young man’s companions began grumbling, "Yes, let's tell the random stranger everything. Great idea. For all we know, this guy works for Diaz. I'm just saying, Artus. You can't trust everyone, and the closer we get to Galvez, the more dangerous things'll get.”

“You know, Artus. Your friend here is correct. You should probably not divulge information so easily. I didn’t even have to threaten you.” Fabian said, teasing Artus.

"Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" Artus asked Fabian. Fabian nodded his head before answering.

“I do know the way out of here. It’s down the other path. This one…”Fabian said while pointing behind him, “leads to a dead end.”

Fabian walked closer to the group, examining the bunch. It seems like they are capable of handling themselves, and if they’re indeed heading to Galvez prison, then I may as well accompany them. I can’t really take the main roads considering that Diaz has his men terrorizing civilians. Fabian was uncertain if the group would be successful, but it wasn’t like he had much to do in his spare time, other than pick of Diaz’s soldiers when he had a chance.

“I’ll accompany your little group for research purposes, but let me ask you a question…” Fabian said as he folded his arms. “What do you plan to do once you break into the prison? I’m assuming you know the layout of it and aren’t blindly marching into a heavily guarded facility that no one has been able to break out of.”

    Natalia Denar
    Brimstone Cave

Asher offered his opinion on their navigational problem. “We should thoroughly consider our options before deciding.” It was the equivalent of saying “I’m also completely clueless.” Still, he had a point; if they all agreed on one option, there wouldn’t be that much bickering if their choice turned out to be the wrong one.

Suddenly Natalia realised they weren’t alone. Someone was approaching them with his hand on his weapon. Natalia wasn’t worried about that, there was seven of them and he was all alone. “If you are here for the artifact, good luck finding it!” He shouted. “I’ve been looking for it for a few hours, now.” That seemed to confuse most members of the group, including Natalia and Artus asked what they were all thinking. “Uhhhh...artifact? We're not... Here for an artifact...” Then, he foolishly continued. “Actually, we're here on a rescue mission. I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to.. Galvez prison to save her..”

Coelnar was also less than impressed with Artus’ performance. “Yes, let's tell the random stranger everything.” he muttered sarcastically. “Great idea. For all we know, this guy works for Diaz.” He shook his head. “I'm just saying, Artus. You can't trust everyone, and the cloer we get to Galvez, the more dangerous things'll get.”

Natalia silently nodded in agreement, Artus was acting very naively. Even the new guy teased him about it. “You know, Artus. Your friend here is correct. You should probably not divulge information so easily. I didn’t even have to threaten you.”

Artus didn’t seem to mind it much and continued. “Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?” Well, at least something good might come out of this. If he knows the way out, we can finally get out of this stinking cave.

Natalia was relieved when she heard his answer. “I do know the way out of here. It’s down the other path. This one…” the stranger said while pointing behind him, “leads to a dead end.” After a slight pause he continued.

Actually, that’s exactly what we’re doing. But Natalia didn’t say that. She took that as a personal attack on her as a part of the group, so she responded in a similar style. “And I’m assuming you know how easy it is to get your hands on the layout of Galvez or any information about it for that matter.” Natalia said sarcastically. “We are capable enough to assess the situation and come up with the best course of action after that.” she continued wishing it was true.

    Keres Adrastea
    That cave

    '
It appeared the group was lost in the cave. “We should thoroughly consider our options before deciding.” Asher held up his metal thingy for the group to see, and keres took it as he had no idea what to do. It stayed like that for a little while, without anyone doing anything. Besides, if one end turned out to be a dead end, they could just go back to where they were now. That would be more effective than standing like a herd of sheeps waiting for a miracle.

Artus started acting thoughtful, and came up with an idea: "Well, considering that the river seemingly runs through this cave, I would assume that either way we would have to cross it at some point.". It was obvious he had no idea what he was saying. "Aww, cute. He tried to use his brain" Keres said. Ignoring him, Artus continued. "I say we take the left path. It seems like a good way to go.". The group looked at the left entrance, and suddenly, a figure appeared before them in the darkness. It was a young man, clad in similar clothing as Keres, who reeked of magic.

“If you are here for the artifact, good luck finding it!” He called to the group. “I’ve been looking for it for a few hours, now.”. An artifact, huh? Keres thought. Artus gave the young man a confused look. "Uhhhh...artifact? We're not...here for an artifact..." Artus said, like a kid in class.

"Actually, we're here on a rescue mission." He said. "I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to....Galvez prison to save her..." He then said to the young man. "Ups... Spoiler-alert!" Keres said teasingly. Of course, just tell strangers everything about what we're doing, dumb*ss. "Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" Artus hurried changing the subject.

“Are you kidding?” the young man asked, sounding suprised. It appeared he had as much faith in the group's succession as Keres did. "Yes, let's tell the random stranger everything. Great idea. For all we know, this guy works for Diaz. I'm just saying, Artus. You can't trust everyone, and the closer we get to Galvez, the more dangerous things'll get.” Colenar spoke everyones mind in a single sentence. It was obvious he didn't trust the new guy. “You know, Artus. Your friend here is correct. You should probably not divulge information so easily. I didn’t even have to threaten you.” the guy said. "He's right." Keres said. "Artus is too naive and stupid to understand threats anyway".

Ignoring him again, Artus continued talking to the new guy. "Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" “I do know the way out of here. It’s down the other path. This one…” he answered, pointing in the direction he was talking about. “I’ll accompany your little group for research purposes, but let me ask you a question… What do you plan to do once you break into the prison? I’m assuming you know the layout of it and aren’t blindly marching into a heavily guarded facility that no one has been able to break out of.”

“And I’m assuming you know how easy it is to get your hands on the layout of Galvez or any information about it for that matter.” Natalia said to the stranger in a sarcastic tone. "Nat.. Nat.. Poor naive Nat. That's not how you treat strangers in posession of strong magic." Keres said teasingly. "But she's right.. kinda. Do you happen to know anything about the layout?" He tried sounding friendly, but he felt he failed miserably.

    Default Ethan Daggett: Post 15

    Ethan Daggett
    Route to Galvez

Ethan watched as Natalia knocked Keres to the ground and held her song to his neck
“You’re not so tough now, are you? Now start behaving like a normal human or I will end you.” Ethan was rather impressed with how well she handled herself, it certainly seemed to calm Keres down. Natalia didn’t even look slightly bothered by the whole situation.

    Ethan Daggett
    Brimstone Cave

Before Ethan could suggest to Artus which route to take (not that he had any decent idea where to go) an unfamiliar voice sounded through the cave
“If you are here for the artifact, good luck finding it! I’ve been looking for it for a few hours, now.” Ethan turned to the source of the voice to see a young man standing in brightly coloured clothes, he held an ornate staff

"Uhhhh...artifact?" Artus replied "We're not...here for an artifact. Actually, we're here on a rescue mission." He continued "I'm sure you've heard that Princess Luna was kidnapped right? Well we're going to....Galvez prison to save her..." Ethan darted his eyes towards Artus as if to signal that this stranger could be working for the enemy. Coelnar seemingly agreed with Ethan.
"Yes, let's tell the random stranger everything. Great idea. For all we know, this guy works for Diaz." Coelnar shook his head "I'm just saying, Artus. You can't trust everyone, and the closer we get to Galvez, the more dangerous things'll get."

“Are you kidding?” The man replied, Ethan alsofound it quite hard to take the idea seriously himself.
"Anyways...I don't suppose you know the way out of this cave do you? You came from that path over there, is the exit that way as well?" Artus asked.
“I do know the way out of here. It’s down the other path. This one…” the unknown man pointed behind himself “leads to a dead end.”

“I’ll accompany your little group for research purposes, but let me ask you a question…” The man said “What do you plan to do once you break into the prison? I’m assuming you know the layout of it and aren’t blindly marching into a heavily guarded facility that no one has been able to break out of.” The man had a point, on Ethan’s previous raids he didn’t have any maps, it could be that different.
“And I’m assuming you know how easy it is to get your hands on the layout of Galvez or any information about it for that matter.” Natalia snapped back “We are capable enough to assess the situation and come up with the best course of action after that.” Natalia seemed very confident in her abilities.
"Nat.. Nat.. Poor naive Nat. That's not how you treat strangers in posession of strong magic." Keres joined the conversation in his usual monotone voice "But she's right.. kinda. Do you happen to know anything about the layout?"

Ethan decided it was time to join in the conversation, with some more sense than the others.
“Hold up Keres. I’ve got more important questions” Ethan said, he turned to face the unknown man “How do we know if we can even trust you?” The man easily could have been working for the enemy and just got a tip from one of the men in the inn, or even the innkeeper. “Here’s a start,” Ethan continued “what’s your name?”
