shiny hunts in progress:
340 hordes for Female Nidoran
540 encounters on route 210
8059 SR's for articuno
268 SR's in black2 BQ
I personally prefer Growlithe and Arcanine, however shiny Ninetales is epic, and a DW Ninetales that I use in Black 2 with a Chlorophyl Shiftry (with Solar Beam and Synthesis) has been very effective (more so than the Arcanine I used for half of the game).
I prefer Vulpix because it has better design, and Ninetales has great TM learnsets and drought. I also have Ninetales on my Gen 4 competitive team as special sweeper.
Any Pokemon can use the Fire of friendship,as long as their hearts are pure.
Even tho this is 3rd gen I still prefer Growlithe/Arcanine.. He can learn better moves and Extremespeed is very useful.. Also like the fact in gen IV Arcanine can learn Dragon Pulse so that's a +. Both are really good, but Growlithe/Arcanine's stats are better. The only real cool thing I like about Ninetales is it can learn Psychic.

Growlithe is easily my all time favorite, so Growlithe.

Vulpix, if only because I like foxes more than dogs.
Has to be Growlithe for me, i think it was supposed to Legendary, so the stats reflect this. Vulpix has better speed, but speed is not everything...
Vulpix. I don't care about either Vulpix or Growlithe, but I do love Ninetales, and like Arcanine.
Ninetales is my favourite Fire type, and also a nostalgic Pokemon for me. It's a long story I won't share here now (someday I might), but I'll say one thing: it has to do with the classic old rare holo Ninetales card.
I also just think Ninetales is a really pretty Pokemon.

I love Vulpix! It has a special bond with me, even thought it may not be the best in battle.
It as to be Vulpix for me even though I do like to use both of them I just prefer Ninetails. I used Ninetails in my recent Emerald game I used Ninetails as my fire pokemon and it was a beast, even though it as a limited move pool I enjoy using it.
I've always been partial to Vulpix. It's a very well designed Pokemon, and I like how it uses psychic attacks.
^ This is the reason why I like arguing. If I come off as standoffish or overly angry in an argument, don't worry. I'm probably having the time of my life. Whether I agree with them or not, the pokemon fandom has a lot of different opinions, and I love how nobody is afraid to share them.even if we don't understand each other, that's not a reason to reject each other. There are two sides to any argument. Is there one point of view that has all the answers? Give it some thought.
It depends on what you intend to use them for. In terms of stats and competitive edge, i'd be inclined to say Growlithe as Arcanine with Extremespeed is pretty fun. In gen 5 it would be a no-brainer Ninetales because of it getting groudon's ability from the dream world. As for aesthetics, they're both pretty easy on the eyes. Basically it depends on personal preference. (I voted Growlithe)

I've used both Arcanine and Ninetales in 3rd gen games, and they both have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Ninetales is very nice as a special sponge and has a decent, but not sweeper level, special attack to work with. Its moveset hasn't improved too much over gens 4 and 5, but it more than makes up for it with Drought. Arcanine with Intimidate can work reasonably well as a bulky attacker, and in gens 4 and 5 has access to more moves.
I know people don't generally see Arcanine as a bulky attacker; that's just what I've seen from my recent Gale of Darkness playthroughs. I've used Ninetales a few times since I have LeafGreen. I like them both.
Friend Safari: Fraxure, Dragonair, Sliggoo
Need Dex Entry for Keldeo!
I really like both but if I had to choose battle wise I'd pick Vulpix for the DW ability alone makes for a killer Ninetales
