The year is 1945. World War II has ended. The Allies have triumphed over the Axis of Evil. With Nazi Germany, Fasict Italy and Imperial Japan fallen, the world has become a safer place. The Marshall Plan is in effect as Europe rebuilds and moves away from its violent past. However, a dark shadow looms over the horizon.

    It is the Iron Curtain.

It has been weeks since the U.S. has used the atom bombs on Japan and it is inevitable that the Russian spies will deliver the secrets of the atomic weaponry to the Soviet Union. The Cold War will soon commence. In trying times, heroes will be born. The world is recovering from a long and grueling war. Some folk have become disillusioned and sought for new meaning. Here is the profile that you would have to fill out:

    Here is my sign-up!

    Superhero Name:
    Knightmare
    Secret Identity: Diego Vendrix
    Gender: Male
    Age: 23

Appearance: (Physical, Dailywear, Hero Outfit):[/B] He stands at five foot, 11 inches. He has low cheekbones, a boyish face, slight stubble, and wears a pair of glasses that darken themselves in bright sunlight. His hair is black with subtle patches of very dark brown, mainly in the tips. His hair is kept trimmed and neat, however the ends on the back of his head are messy and spiky. He has slightly bigger than average eyes, which are chocolate brown. His eyes are large enough that they are noticeably larger than average, even by a margin amount. His skin is a pale shade of olive skin that could be seen from his face. He has a stout and muscular build, but still lean and balanced looking.

His daily wear is somewhat reminiscent for a greaser, though this is more of Diego viewing it as practical. He wears a black T-shirt along with a khaki work jacket on top. He follows this up with some all american Levi blue jeans and a form of shoe called creepers, formally used in WWII. He tops this off with a pair of glasses and a watch. He also wears a small obisidion necklace he keeps hidden. His superhero wear is interesting. Start with a basic military uniform from the time, make it black and gray. Add a black trench coat, a fedora, and the hood-mask of the plague doctor, with a special gas filter in it. He has his gas guns on the sides along with a belt of gas bombs.

Personality: Diego is a warm and emotional person with an occasion fiery temper and an adventurous spirit. He is very empathetic and has a great desire to help people out. Beneath this outgoing personality, Diego is a shy and quiet person. He is also a very artistic individual as he will often draw whenever he gets the chance to do so. He is very loyal, but can come on as clingy, especially around girls. He also likes to cook. When in serious situations, he knows it is time for him to use his intelligence and strengths at their full capacity. He is very creative and known to be devious for his ideas. He is regarded as being very smart in many aspects.

He has his faults, however. Some of these are being blunt, sarcastic, picking fights, laziness and often day-dreaming during certain moments and saying a weird comment afterward. Beyond that, he also has moments of self-righteousness, showing frustrated toward some of the less-than-savory characters, but holds his tongue when he needs to. He may also show some malevolent intent or hold grudges for a while. He may even show cruel moments, characterized by a crazed grins and shadows under his eyes. He is prone to snarky or blunt comments and is often unable to figure out what to do in situations with people so will often mess things up, though he means no harm. Despite this or because of it, he tries to overcome these traits so people don’t judge him on his faults and see him as a good person.

Abilities: Skilled Chemist/Psychologist/Inventor, Atheltic, Hand to hand combatant, Skilled detective, Prophetic Dreams (via necklace)

Equipment: Fear Gas Gun, Sleep Gas Gun, Sleep Gas bombs, Swiss Army knife, Obsidion Necklace (Used by ancestor shaman for 'dream-walking')

History: Diego Vendrix is a Mexican-American who lives in the Deep South. His mom was a homemaker while his father works as a management consultant for Coca-Cola. Diego grew up with a younger brother. As a child, he was a lonely kid. He was something of a prodigy. He loved reading and would do so often. His parents encouraged this however. Whenever the other boys would play ball or such, he would get reading. He was different from his more athetic brother. Despite the two disagreements they had, they loved one another. However, Diego was still lonely. He had problems communicating with others and was considered an outcast or sometimes even messed up in the head, much to the anger of his brother. Despite the troubles, he finished high school.

However, Diego wondered what to do with his life. For the summer, his brother convinced him to go to a camping trip. When the brothers were in the woods, they ended up meeting a trio of brothers in the woods. Two worked in the army, though as a scientist and a solider respctably and one lived in the woods. They were both sent on leave and retreated to the woods with their eldest brother to deal with this. While Diego's brother learned tools of the trade such as smithing, leatherworking and woodshop, Diego was trained in the ways of the military. He went through makeshift courses. When he wasn't, he was reading the books providing by the scientist. There were books on medicine, psychology, chemistry and so on. One day, the scientist disappeared for a few days and returned with plenty of exotic chemicals and such. He was on the breakthough of a theory. After much experimentation on the wildlife, he along with Diego's assistance, created two new bioweapons.

One was a sleeping agent in gaseous form. A knockout gas. It could be fused in capsules or sprayed out for spies. The second was even better. It was a fear gas. It took advantage of the psych and would cause fears to come out to huant the folk. The brothers spent a great deal of time with these mentors, though it was time to part as the war came to a close. The military man headed home and the scientist to work. Diego's brother stayed behind to learn more skills to live off the land while also working in repair. Diego, had a wilder idea.

Inspired by the comics, he conspired to be a hero. His mentors decided to, as he could serve as a domestic symbol of good. To his design, he combined the practical wear of the military along with inspiration from a plague doctor. When he went home, his parents had a gift waiting for him.

    It was an acestral necklace.

It was an obsidion necklace, said to belong to his tribal shaman ancestors. It was believed to be connected with Tezcatlipoca, the god of many things, including divination. It was believed that it granted powers through the dream world. He thanked everyone before he took his new knowledge to the cities where he became known as the Knightmare, a dark guardian of the knight.

With the end of the war and the threat of the Soviets, Diego began making his way to Washington.

Superhero Name: Green Lantern (of Sector 2814)
Secret Identity: Noemi Bruno - Nurse
    Gender: Female
    Age: 24

    Appearance:
Noemi is slightly short and well toned. Her skin is a gentle olive tan and her hair is a wavy cascade of nearly black, brown. It frames her oval face, and brings out her golden-brown eyes. Her nose is small and narrow and her cheekbones are sharp. She has a four inch scar on the back of her left shoulder, where she fell into a cellar as a kid.

As a civilian Noemi generally wears a simple short sleeve dresses, with the skirt just past the knees. Though she has several her favorite is light blue dress with white trim. Out of wartime habit she still doesn’t wear stockings. Her shoes are pair of black heeled strap-backs, not too high, but just enough to make her a little taller. On her left wrist she wears a light yellow Bakelite bracelet, and of course she has an odd green ring on her right hand.

At work, Noemi is confined to the standard nurses’ uniform, a light colored short-sleeve dress and hair kept back, and plain heel-less shoes incase she has to help lift patients.

As a Green Lantern, Noemi’s costume consists of a single piece of green, black, and white space age willpower fabric jumpsuit, with black gloves and boots built in, and a black miniskirt. A large Green Lantern Corps logo is splashed across the upper chest, matching the insignia on the ring on her right hand. The costume is form fitting and shows off the shape of her body far more than conservative sensibilities of the time would like, though the only skin showing is her lower face and neck. Across the upper part of her face, a green mask appears to protect her identity.

She adds to her automatic uniform a small pouch (about the size of two packs of playing cards) clipped onto the waistband of the skirt, similar to the first aid kit carried by WWII soldiers, containing a few first aid essentials of the time; bandages, sulfa powder (mild disinfectant), sulfa ointment (for burns), safety pins, tourniquet, needle and thread, scissors, and forceps.

    Personality:
Noemi is a very caring woman, having decided to devote herself to nursing wounded soldiers, prior to being chosen by the ring. She cares deeply for friends and family, and has a certain fondness for animals. It fills her with great anger if she ever sees an animal being mistreated.

This shows her bravery as well, since tending the wounded would take her close to the front lines. She never got the chance, but instead continues to nurse at a local hospital. Part of this bravery comes from having overcome her biggest childhood fear, by accidentally doing it.

She is fairly intelligent, and particularly knowledgeable about 1940’s medicine and traditional Italian cooking.

She’s okay with a bit of excitement, but she really likes to get her rest after a long day. The ring has cut into her time for beauty sleep, but protecting the Earth and the Universe is probably worth it.

    Abilities:
    Mid-level 40’s Nursing/Medical Knowledge

    Traditional Italian Cooking

Through Green Lantern Corps Ring - Grants various powers; flight, the ability to build temporary structures from the green energy of will (constructs), and send out blasts of energy. It also automatically hides the wearers identity. - The ring needs to be recharged occasionally (24 hrs), and is generally ineffective against things which are yellow.

    Equipment:
Green Lantern Corps Ring, Automatic Suit that comes with the Ring, WWII style first aid kit

    History:
Nomei is of Italian decent, her parents having moved to America sometime shortly before she was conceived, along with several other family members. They had all become US citizens before the war, and were only effected by Italian Internment through lost business revenue and insults from misguided patriots, despite her family’s pride in being Americans. Her father worked in a restaurant owned by her uncle, and her mother kept house.

Growing up Noemi heard less and less Italian as the years went by. Her parents, aunt and uncle, despite running an authentic Italian Restaurant, were keen to become as American as possible, speaking English as often as possible. While this also helped eliminate any threat of them being relocated during the war, the results is that Noemi does not speak much Italian, and is embarrassed about how little of her ancestral language she knows.

Her best friends growing up were her three cousins, all boys, which pretty much resulted in her becoming a bit of a Tom-boy. They liked to go exploring, but there wasn’t much in the way of wilderness to explore in their community, so often it was abandon lots and buildings they played in. When she was about 8, they snuck around an abandon house looking for a way in. This place wasn’t safe though, and Noemi ended up falling into the cellar through the broken door. For as long as she could remember Noemi had had a dreadful fear of heights and falling, but falling through into the cellar turned out not to be nearly as bad as she thought. She cut her shoulder, and her oldest cousin, afraid she was hurt, ran to get their parents. She and her cousins were grounded for a long time.

She was 18 at the start of WWII, just trying to figure out what she wanted from life. She knew her parents expected her to find a good husband a keep house for him, but so far all her romances had fizzled. She’d considered several traditionally women’s occupations, but the start of the war lead to one occupation standing out, nursing. Men were getting hurt on the front lines, and it was critical for them to get help as soon as possible. Noemi poured herself into learning everything she could regarding becoming a nurse, and managed to get some apprentice level work at a local hospital. However by the time she was ready to go overseas to help the nation’s soldiers, the war ended. So, she ended up continuing on at the hospital.

Just after that Noemi was chosen by the ring. Nobody else was home. Her dad and uncle were off at the restaurant, and he mom and aunt were playing cards with some friends. Lying in bed, full clothed, after a hard day’s work, during which she had to help move an elderly patient with a bad temper, the last thing Noemi wanted was excitement. But it happened anyways. A green meteor streaked across the sky outside her window. She got up to take a look, and saw the meteor was changing direction. On reflection, it may have been wiser to barricade herself in the cellar, or evacuate the neighborhood, when she realized it was coming straight for their house, but Noemi went out into the garden and stared up at the small emerald light. It slowed, and to her amazement, floated down to her. It was but a tiny emerald green ring.

Suddenly it slipped itself on her finger. Noemi tried to rip it off, but it stuck fast through some power of it’s own. An emerald bubble appeared around her, it took her to the site of a burnt out house. (You can assume for yourself what you think happened to the previous GL.) There it released her, and a small orb of light led her to a spot on the floor where it circled slowly before fading into nothingness. Noemi stared at the burnt floor, which was thankfully supporting her weight. What was this ring? This sphere? This orb? What did it, or they, want? She kneeled down to examined the floor, a board squeaked, and she knew, there was something hidden under the floor boards.

It was a lantern shaped just like the insignia on the emerald green ring. She debated what to do. Finally she resolved to take it with her, maybe show her father and uncle, get their advice. But as she reached out to pick it up, light shot out from it activating the ring, and she heard a strange pledge came out of her mouth:

If darkness should come by day,
So that mankind loses his way,
Then I will fight, with all my might,
For I wield the Smeraldo Light.

(If you’re a movie fan, you’ll notice this isn’t the oath from the movie… if you’re a comic and cartoon fan, you’ll know several of the lanterns have their own oath. Smeraldo is Italian for Emerald.)

She was walking home from the hospital a couple days later and saw grumpy old man kicking his dog. Noemi was filled with a righteous indignation, and for a moment dearly wished she had a bone saw so she could just cut his damn leg off. It was then that she created her first construct. Staring a the glowing green bone saw in her hand, Noemi felt empowered and holding up the tool shouted to him, “Hey, you’d better cut that out!”

Soon after the ring took her to Oa, where she learned of the Green Lantern Corps and their purpose, their duty, her purpose, her duty.

    Superhero Name: 'Windreaper'
    Secret Identity: Antonio Giordono
    Gender: Male
    Age: 47

    Appearance:

Marcus is an aging, Sicilian male, who now only bears passing resemblance to the dashing young lad he used to be. Despite the loss of his youth at the hands of the ravages of the world, a certain unmistakable ambition and gleam remain in his deep brown eyes. He stands straight and tall at a respectable 5'10", and the muscle of his arm and back has remained in relatively good shape. He's somewhat stout, with a bit of a limp on his left leg, though he refuses to use a cane at any point in time. Though it is unhealthy for him, he insists on maintaining a very rigid physical training regiment to keep in strength. His hair has faded from black to a dark grey over time, and his skin has lightened to a very light shade of brown.

At any given time he's found in a very sleek attire fitting of an American Aviator of his age. In his 'civilian' life he often dons typicaly 'aviator' wear, ranging from coats to glasses, and has a healthy mixture of motorcycle gear in his possession as well, he's often seen wearing his trademark helmet and goggles. A pair of old, brown dress shoes always completes his attire, whatever else he wears, and he wears a small golden cross on a chain around his neck.

For public appearances as the 'Windreaper', his standard aviator's helmet is supplimented by a full-face leather mask and oxygen re-breather.

    Personality:

Though he sometimes makes the effort to seem jolly, in truth it would appear that Antonio is very much at conflict with a variety of inner demons. Ranging from his drinking problem to memory issues, this war veteran has a lot on his plate without the pressure of having a world-saving ability. Though he's never been one to start trouble with anyone else, Antonio is not above finishing the fights others start, and, in fact, proves to be a volatile fighter even in his old age.

Despite this, 'Air Colonel' Giordono is an incredibly calm man behind the control stick of an airplane, and has an unshakeable resolve in any battle, regardless of the odds. He flies and fights and even lives life very much by instinct and intuition, though that's not to say he isn't a very logical man. He's an expert problem solver, and despite humble roots, has come to be known as an extremely wise old man. He is at least partially religious, and tries to be 'a good Christian' when he can.

    Abilities:

Antonio has a hard-to-define range of abilities, which are difficult to quantify or measure, but it is agreed that he posses some manner of 'Superhuman Intuition'. Though Antonio finds it difficult to explain, he claims he can 'see the path of a battle' before it is finished. It's been observed that Antonio is almost pre-cognitive in his capacity to predict, and account for, near-future events. It's thought that this is a result of an extremely enhanced ability of his brain to commit spatial reasoning, object recognition, and precognitive pattern recognition tasks. As a result, there is almost no situation in which Antonio cannot reasonably predict the outcome, so long as it isn't a random variable like a lottery.

Most notably, he is also somehow aware, to the fullest extent, of the capabilities of whatever plane he flies, after only a few hours of flying. It's been noted that he's able to push a plane beyond what were thought to be its physical limits, and never has any difficulty performing what are considered to be insane maneuvers only moments after being introduced to his airframe, suggesting that his spatial reasoning skills manage to extend into an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of devices he is directly controlling.

    Equipment:

Though he has piloted a multitude of fighter aircraft over the years, for now, he is equipped with the state-of-the-art (as of 1945) F-86 (A prototype, known as the XP-86) Sabre Aircraft. It's a custom model, tailored specifically to him. Notably, it contains additional control surfaces that are tailored to be used in fine, more minute ways than the typical ones which, under use by Antonio, give his particular airframe exceptional maneuverability.

    History:

Born in Siciliy in May of 1898, Antonio had the 'honor' of growing up during one of the most turbulent times in history. Having worked for little to no money in his early youth, he was only 16 by the time the first 'Great War' began. As Italy was thrust into the conflict, he found himself conscripted before his 17th birthday into the Airforce of his home country, and was thrust into the cockpit of a Batalila... where he performed not only admirably, but managed to achieve an ace status when he managed to get no less than fifty-five air-to-air kills against the German Empire over the course of the war.

After the war, in 1921, he migrated to the United States in search of greener pastures, hoping to escape the turmoil of his own country. Having known of his prowess in the Great war, the Army Air Corps of America quickly 'scooped' him up, and urged him to incorporate his expertise into the new fighter doctrine they were producing. He would do so for decades, until it was clear that a second 'Great War' would begin, and he knew he would need to be involed, despite having just gotten around to starting a family.

Despite his age, Antonio would insist on fighting in the cockpit of a P-51 and, over the course of the war, racked up one-hundred-sixty-seven kills on both the Pacific and Eastern Fronts, at times having to shoot down member of the Italian Air Force he once belonged to. It was solidified, in that war, that he would truly have no equal, as was credited, for a time, with being 'The Unsung Hero' of numerous battles, including Iwo Jima and even Berlin. German and Japanese fighter pilots alike spoke not in scorn, but in fear and even awe of the pilot who 'danced in the sky like it was a stage, and the plane was his own two feet'. Word of his accomplishments spread like wild fire, and shortly after World War 2, he became something of an Americana icon.

For a time, the prodigy pilot believed his time was over, and he would be finally allowed to retire to q quiet life. In 1945, his first granddaughter was born, and that would prove to be the happiest memory he would have for a while... But the past wouldn't let him go. Now, in 1945, with the Soviet's Iron Curtain looming over his head, he finds himself again thrust into the role of the 'Ace in America's sleeve', a role he would much rather leave to his past, and is placed alongside men and women of true supernatural power in this new, strange battlefield.

    Equipment:

Though he has piloted a multitude of fighter aircraft over the years, for now, he is equipped with the state-of-the-art (as of 1949) F-86 Sabre Aircraft.

In 1947, his first granddaughter was born, and that would prove to be the happiest memory he would have for a while... But the past wouldn't let him go. Now, in 1949, with the Soviet's Iron Curtain looming over his head, he finds himself again thrust into the role of the 'Ace in America's sleeve', a role he would much rather leave to his past, and is placed alongside men and women of true supernatural power in this new, strange battlefield.

This is the most unique and awesome profile yet. Good job. ACCEPTED!

Change 1949 to 1945. I made a typo. It's 1945, just the end of World War II

I made a typo in the date. It IS 1945, but I put 1949 somewhere eklse though

    Changes made as necessary.

If it's alright, I'll keep the F-86 Sabre prototype, even if it's a few years early.

It is a prototype, so I imagine it could be done. He will also learn to fly a UFO I imagine

People are probably hesitant to take the 'spotlight' role, honestly.

I really didn't want a 'SHAZAM!' character to play, anyways.

Honestly, it's hard to take yourself seriously when you're running around shouting SHAZAM.

Well, I'm sure someone will sign on eventually. If not, we could always pick up a SHAZAM! later.

Is it necessary to the RPG’s plot that we have a Captain Marvel?

Yeah. He or she would be the one to fight Darkseid hand-to-hand. Darkseid is a New God and usually Superman is the one that tussles with him.

And we couldn't adjust? Gang-up on him, or have whoever is most super-powered fight him?

Have you seen Justice League? The guy's Omega Beam could knock back or disintegrate anyone and only Batman escaped it by dodging and kicking one of Darkseid's men into the blast. Darkseid required brute force to take him down.

Brute force is pretty much what I was suggesting. And, between you two having precognition, and me making force-field constructs, we should already have enough to protect us from the beams if we team up.

Admittedly, I have no experince with this villian beyond reading a bit of his wikipedia profile (He does seem overpowered, being invunerable and all, which is how I can see you wanting to pair him with Captain Marvel). Besides, really, which Justice League we talking about? I remember the first time I saw an episode of the poltically correct version... 70's? 80's? it had to be from the early 80's.
