You got it. As for being guy biased, yeah, true, I can't really argue against that. I needed some kind of infection going around that people would try to avoid but could spread around via its infected members, and resorting to yet another zombie apocalypse just felt like it was going to cause eyes to roll. That, and I needed something that was also only going to cause physical changes and not too many mental ones as a zombie virus would have done. That, and no one ever lets themselves get infected in a zombie RP. At least here, if someone gets infected, there is a potential way to reverse the affiliation, but it's a rough inconvenience for them to have to backtrack.

In essence, it's a very elaborate style of capture the flag. The idea for the spreading flower infection mostly came from the Creeper virus in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, only getting infected by the Creeper is fatal and was made to be a kind of biological weapon. So, I came up with something that isn't as fatal and could be arguably be seen as beneficial to some, depending on how the personality looks at things.

That's mainly the Lilyara that look like that. The Tyransal just have green skin, small flowers around their ankles, waist, neck, and forehead, save for the large flower petal wings.

I've got another question - do the people of Nexus wear any clothes besides the flowers?

Yeah, most of them are still wearing the ripped-up remnants of what they were wearing before the transformation. However, if they evolve and become one of the larger forms due to staying near the Nexus Flower for extended periods of time, they obviously outgrow their original clothing.

Sorry about the size of this thing. I could not stop writing.
    NAME: Asher Yun

    AGE: 20

    GENDER: Male
    FACTION: Nexus

APPERANCE: Asher, in his current form, has silvery-green skin and extremely yellow irises. His eyes nearly glow when they reflect light, and their pupils are like a cat’s in appearance and function. He is the same height that he was as a human, 5’11”, but, as a Nexus, he is more slender than when he was a human. When he was human, he was slightly pudgy due to staying inside nearly 24-7, but now, as he is outside 24-7, he is thin. As a human, people often commented that, if he were a few pounds lighter, he was pretty enough that he could pass as a girl; his face has more-or-less remained in the same shape as when he was a human. His canines and molars have gotten sharper, sharp enough to slice through flesh with ease.

Asher’s hair has been transformed from mid-length black hair to slightly-purple dark leaves of grass that can cut if one tries to rub it upwards. These strands of grass are extremely thin, and they are more durable than normal human hair, but they do irritate one’s hand if one tries to pet his hair (for whatever reason) either way. The blades of grass do not break easily, and are quite flexible. His new “hair” reaches down to the middle of his back and is normally tied back into a ponytail with one of its own strands. He has horn-like growths from the sides of his head. These growths are a yellow-green and are half a foot long. They start above his eyebrows, to the side, and up a bit; their base is half-an-inch in diameter, and from there they go up and backwards and then taper into sharp points. The “horns” resemble the bases of palm fronds. There are only two flowers growing on him: a rather large white and indigo lotus that has blossomed where his neck meets his right shoulder, and an purple 5-petal orchid that grows on the back of his neck. The petals of the orchid are flat in the middle and slightly wavy on the edges.

His hands are encased in a growth of plant material whose individual “slats” are similar to those of a stag-horn fern, but unlike Mr. Stag-Horn Fern’s “slats”, they are as hard as wood and flexible only at the joints; this enables him to move his fingers around, but use his hands to pick up or stab objects. His toes are also affected by this, but they are only flexible where they are attached to the foot. Small fern leaves protrude from the joints of his claws, but they do not interfere with his movement.

Asher is currently wearing a pair of cream-colored khaki shorts with pockets whose buttons have long since been lost and a shirt whose hue of green can no longer be distinguished from stains. The shirt has two holes in the back to allow for his wings.

Asher has two odd patches on his back, near his shoulder blades, from which dark purple grass grows from and jut out about half-a-foot. He can use Green Magic to regulate the length of these, turning them into long and large wings suitable for long-distance flying, swallow-like wings suited for quickly maneuvering, or anything in-between. The grass cannot catch fire easily, unlike real grass, and it is both flexible and strong; the individual blades of the grass always stay with each other and never go fluttering out where they aren’t supposed to.

PERSONALITY: Asher is more than a bit ditzy, but he can consider the effects of his words if required to. His cloudy-headed-ness mostly involves being tactless and not understand any basic concepts of polite communication. He can say things that are painful for others to hear, but he honestly means no harm by it; if he criticizes someone, then he is doing so to help the person improve, not insult them. He tends to do things that common sense would dictate are stupid, such as trying to talk with the Free Ferreters and Devoir while they are attempting to exterminate him. He finds pleasure in honest debate with people.

Asher’s permanent state of confusion is partially his true personality and partially a plan to relax the guard of those around him. His banter with his opponents always has the aim of regard him as less of a “thing” and more of a “person”, but this is to convert them. He will say things that make other people uncomfortable if he knows anything of their personality or background; he will attempt to dislodge them from their pedestal of being the “superior” beings. Once a person is converted to the Nexus side, he will be genial as usual around them, seemingly forgetting that they were once part of the enemy, but he will never forget their original alignment. He can quickly think of a counter to many arguments, being quite intelligent.

Asher, for all of his flippant remarks, cannot bear to be without a plan. He has a hatred of spontaneous action and will only do premeditated things, which even include his arguments. He can think several steps ahead of many people, which are based on his previous experiences with them or what he might do if he were in their position. This need for clockwork efficiency extends to his daily life, even when not fighting, so much that he cannot tolerate uninvited visitors and those that loiter around. He keeps a careful watch on the forest surrounding his dwelling, making note of every disturbance and heading out to infect those foolish enough to seek Seeds in his territory once he has observed them. His requirement for assure of the future, or as much as he can have a hand in it, does not interfere with his constant curiosity. He can make a plan in a very short period of time, and can handle it well if one fails, as he does not become angered easily – it is near impossible to get him a stage past “agitated”, but he will remain seething for days if seriously upset.

He seems to like dressing in human clothes, even going so far as to steal various pieces of clothing from Free Ferretors who are not vigilant enough. Asher is in a constant battle with the Jungle to keep his dwelling even semi-clean. He knows, as a Nexus, that he should be tolerant of leaves littering where he lives, but his personality as a human has had surprising staying-power.

People have extreme difficulty in growing close to Asher, as he uses the frivolous exclamations and such as a shield to prevent others from becoming friends with him. He is lonely, for all of his talks, with mostly anyone besides his Pokemon, are that of strategy. His superficial amiability has caused some people to think that they were friends, but he considers such a relation an acquaintance only. If one manages to befriend him, then they will discover that Asher is very loyal to those he loves and will willingly get hurt for them.

Asher considers being infected one of the greatest things that has ever happened to him. He does not understand why people do not want to be infected if being infected is not fatal and may cure certain conditions.

HISTORY: Asher was born a single child to a middle-class family in Oreburgh City. He was revealed to have severe asthma due to the coal that was being mined around the city. He also had allergies, but they were not as severe as his asthma, requiring a shot a week. Without his inhaler, he could not even go outside for fear of an attack, and strenuous activity was out of the question. Soon after his fifth birthday, Asher’s parents having saved up, they moved to Canalave City, which (hopefully) had cleaner air. The breeze from the ocean helped alleviate Asher’s condition, enough to enable him to go to school, but not enough to let him run around.

At school, Asher was always the one sitting on the sidelines, not participating in anyone sports. He could not move around very much for fear of an asthma attack. Even as a small child he patiently waited inside and talked with the teachers and other adults while his classmates were outside playing. Because he could not be distracted from his studies, he grew to be a child that was estranged from the social groups of his peers, and did not know how to react when they tried to play with him – he walled himself off by reading.

His parents, sensing that he was lonely, thought about getting him a Pokemon as a companion – there were, of course, complications that went along with that plan. They could not get him a Grass-type for fear that that would trigger his condition, Fire-types might emit smoke and irritate Asher’s sensitive lungs, nothing with feathers or fur, and Pokemon who required much training were also out. They began to believe that a Rock-type was best for him because they generally stayed still and did not emit pollen or other irritants. They wanted the Pokemon to be a present for his birthday, so they decided to let him choose a Pokemon. Asher leafed through many articles about all sorts of Rock-types, and he finally decided on Kabuto, partially because it looked cute, and partially because he thought that Kabutops was bada**. So his parents went and got him a Kabuto.

For the first few weeks, Asher did not know how to interact with his new Pokemon and even stepped on it a few times, but it was very tolerant as long as he fed it. He still thought that it was cute; although, it was a bit too big and heavy for him to cuddle. Kabuto followed him around and soon became his only friend aside from his parents. The other children were jealous and critical of him for having a to-be powerful Pokemon, yet not being interested in Pokemon battles. Kabuto, sensing his classmates’ emotions, decided to become protective of Asher, who was rather innocent and whose mind did not function the way that most others’ did.

At seventh grade, he was the top student in his school and would remain so until 11th grade, which was quite an achievement, considering that the school was located in a “good” district. His relations with fellow children did not improve, and neither did any of his conditions – in fact, he now had very bad eyesight in addition to his other problems. He began to feel as if his life was pointless and nothing that Kabuto did could cheer him up, but his disheartenment did not last for long as he discovered that what he felt was affected by how he reacted to other people, and so began to act…even more strangely as a way to ward people off.

Kabuto evolved into a Kabutops as soon as Asher entered 10th grade, and, a few months into school, he nearly died because someone had stolen his glasses and he tried to track them down and was nearly run over by a car. He was in the hospital for a while, and while he was there a Lampent was determined on getting into his room for whatever reason. After a while, he was tired of the thing bashing into his face while trying, and failing, to suck his life-force out, and so he called Kabutops out of her Pokeball. She defeated the Lampent without wrecking the room, probably because the lantern-like Pokemon did not attempt to defend itself, and then Asher was left with a problem – what to do with a fainted Lampent. He went to sleep, knowing that Kabutops would watch over him, and, in the morning, Lampent was gone – for a bit. When he returned home, he discovered that Lampent had followed him, so he sent out Kabutops again and another short skirmish ensued. This time, though, he caught the Pokemon.

Several years passed without any major incidents, but by the time he was 19, he was legally blind without his glasses or contacts. He was living in Jubilife City, attending college, by the time that the Nexus flower bloomed. He stayed in the city, being rather poor and unable to move. He was one of the first people to become infected in Jubilife, perhaps because of his sensitivity to pollen, and Kabutops had had enough sense to drag him to the edge of the forest by the time he transformed. It was painful, but once it was over, he could run around without worry; however, upon learning that Devoir was going to destroy this new-found freedom, he became obsessed with protecting the Nexus flower. Asher nicknamed Kabutops and Lampent, who had evolved into Chandelure once she was infected, after seeing their infected forms as he was much happier without any constraints being put upon him. He wanted to share his joy and relief of the infection with everyone, perhaps because he was influenced by the nexus flower, so decided to infect as many people as possible.

WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT: (Psychic powers included):
-Telepathy across the Jungle. Asher can easily speak with infected Pokemon and other Nexus with his mind, and may be able to telepathically speak with intruders in the forest and implant subliminal messages.
-Numbing Scent: He emits this from the single flower on him, and, if it reaches people, they experience slight delusions and lapses of common sense. This does not affect any members of Nexus. Those affected may also be calmed; however, this does nothing if they are extremely angry or prepared for the attack.
-His hearing, sense of smell, taste, and touch are all far beyond a human’s, but his eyesight is “merely” what humans would call “20/20”.
-He is slightly more powerful than an un-trained human physically, but he is extremely capable with Green Magic and psychic attacks. He has enough psychic power to hold a single person in the air for a minute or so and can send out blasts of psychic energy. He can use the psychic power to feel out his surroundings if he cannot see, but he does not "get" colors or fine details. He can "see" behind himself with this, but it uses up quite a bit a of energy.

    OTHER: N/A

    POKEMON:

    NICKNAME: Planteau
    SPECIES: Kabutops
    GENDER: Female

APPERANCE: Planteau is…flat. Really flat. She looks as if someone had squashed each of her individual parts nearly flat. Her scythes are the same shade of mint green and are extremely sharp, but the edges are prone to breaking if she tries to cut stone without using a move. Her would-be white body parts are now lime green that seems to be tinted with white. Where a normal Kabutops would be brown, Planteau is a rather pretty teal.

PERSONALITY: Planteau is the opposite of Cocoa in many aspects, but she is also very protective of Asher. If one so much as looks at him in a way that she does not like, then she will threaten and harass those people. She is obedient and only wishes the best for Asher. She will not hesitate to kill, which undermines Asher’s goal of infecting as many as he can. She, compared to Asher and Cocoalure, is stoic and practical.

OTHER: Grass/Rock type instead of Rock/Water.

NICKNAME: Cocoalure, called “Cocoa” if Asher has to say her name quickly.
    SPECIES: Chandelure
    GENDER: Female

APPERANCE: Instead of a lantern-like object being the main part of her body, Cocoa now has a spherical (kinda triangular, actually) brown object that resembles a coconut, hence her nickname. The parts of her that were black are now a dark green, and small vines that originate from her main body twirl around them. Her used-to-be-flames are now leaves that have some qualities of tissue paper, being thin, prone to crinkling, and brightly colored. The flame on top of her head has turned into a mass of these leaves and rustles when she moves.

PERSONALITY: Cocoa does not know what is happening the majority of the time. She has her head stuck, if Asher’s standard is the clouds, up on Saturn. She calmly floats around and is friends with generally anyone; it’s a miracle that she has not been killed, but she owes that to her instincts. It is debatable whether she has noticed that she is physically different from when she was Fire/Ghost. Her amiable personality vanishes in the blink of an eye if Asher is threatened, but her confusion does not. In battle she relies on her instincts and Asher’s commands, but she’ll stop fighting only if Asher says to. For the majority of the time, she’s off in lala-land, so one cannot expect anything resembling comprehension from her about complicated instructions.

    OTHER: Fire/Grass instead of Fire/Ghost.

Are all Nexus' skins green-tinged, or just Lilyaras'? Do Nexus have hair? Sorry about the amount of questions... It the answer's in the first post, then just ignore this post.

Nah, they all have green skin, and they don't have hair, that's been replaced by flowers and leaves.

And hey, don't worry about the questions, I don't mind them. I was considering drawing them up to make it a little bit more clear visually, but it's just a lot of work.

As long as you need, but I'd like to get the RP started relatively soon.

EDIT: It seems like several people have been having trouble with the Nexus races. Would it be easier on people if we just drop the four specific Nexus races, and just switch it to one general infection state? This would mean you decide what the character looks like, just as long as they're flower/plant themed.

I love that idea. The fact that their looks were pretty much already decided made it difficult to come up with anything that would make the character 'special'

I like the classes idea, but what they look like was the problem. I was already planning on deviating a bit from what you had anyways just to have my character at least look different than the common rabble, but I like the classes. The general stuff is easy to work with like wings or whatever.

Alright, so the new basis of being infected is that as long as the character is green-skinned and has a floral motive, you're fine. You're free to decide what kinds of flowers or plant-like traits the character has, such as what kinds of flowers, how big they are, where they're located on their character's body, and so on. The whole gender-based flower coloring is really just a trend and is really just an easy way to determine a male from a female, but you're free to deviate from it. As for new abilities, just as long as it's not OP, I'm fine with it. So yeah, giving your character flower-petal wings, a kind of thorn-based poison/infective injector, large hulking (but slower) size, or anything along those lines is fine. I'm leaving that entirely up to you.

So, wait, can my character still have the mind-control powers that it did as when it could be a Xaniya?

Yeah, that's fine, as long as it's only used on NPCs and not player controlled characters. But stuff like telepathy and psychic attacks is fair game to be used on anyone.

Is it possible for me to play as an individual Nexus-infected Pokemon, rather than as a human? I have this cool idea (the pokemon, for the record, is a Gallade) but wanted to OK it first before I start writing.
I'm sorry, were you expecting some kind of epic signature here?

    Current works:
A Modern Atlantis- Bioshock/Doctor Who crossover (FINALLY WRITING CHAPTER 3! Will post soon!)
-When a perfectly mundane trip to the ocean floor causes the Doctor and his companions to discover an underwater city, they find a utopia that is anything but. (Rated PG-14 for language and violence)

I'd like to submit 2 characters, both in the Nexus Faction and closely related to each other. And just as clarification (better safe than sorry), I may look like a newbie, I've roleplayed for 6 years on various forums. I'm no odd cheeseburger

So could you reserve two Nexus faction positions? I'll have the form tomorrow after I finish AP Chem.

I have a question: Can i play my character and his Pokemon as two seperate.. people? So that Golurk doesn't become just a Pokemon?
And I have edited a bit more on the Pokemon. Need some more planning for the Nexus-guy

So could you reserve two Nexus faction positions? I'll have the form tomorrow after I finish AP Chem.
Yep, that's fine. Good luck with AP Chem.

Alright, I'll take a Nexus reserve. I'll post it here in a bit.

    NAME: Robert Silvermyst
    AGE: 18
    GENDER: Male
FACTION: Free Ferreter (Seeking a cure for his mother and enough payout to pay back his family's debt.)
    RACE: Human
APPERANCE: Robert is a young, white-skinned teenager who stands at 5' 11" tall. He has short, dark brown hair that is neatly combed. He has piercing blue eyes that give him a rather cold glance. The boy has a lean build to his body. While he wasn't muscular, he wasn't skinny either. When not in the jungle, he wears a white tee shirt, a jacket of black and orange, blue jeans and a pair of well traveled sneakers. Out in the jungle, he dons a black gas mask, a skin-tight black diver's suit, a pair of combat boots, his flare belt and a backpack.

PERSONALITY: Robert is a young man who prizes his family and friends above all else, and that includes his Pokemon. Robert enjoys nature, but the Nexus is something he feels is an affront to actual nature on an equal level as what Sinnoh had devolved into before the incident. He views both Nexus and Devoir as extreme, though he is more willing to cooperate with Devoir, as he has no intention of becoming part plant, and because they would be able to cure him if he managed to get out before the infection became too bad. He is friendly and easy to approach, but he also doesn't want to get pulled into the war if he could avoid doing so.

HISTORY: Robert was born in Nuvema, Unova, and lived with his parents and younger sister. They were a happy and well-off family with both parents working full time. Robert spent most of his time with his little sister. Even when he left to go on his Pokemon journey, he brought his little sister with him to share his adventure. His parents were fine with the arrangement, as Robert had always proven himself to be reliable and always took good care of his sister.

However, as Robert was off on his journey, back at home disaster had struck. His mother became inflicted with a crippling illness. her kidneys began failing, and breathing became a painful exercise. The treatments for the illness were expensive, causing his father to spend all of their saved up retirement money to try and keep her alive. While the medicine that his father had purchased for his wife saved her life, he himself became infected with the disease. His wife was still too weak and ill to do anything, and Robert's father eventually succumbed to the disease as he could not afford medical care for the both of them.

Robert returned to find his father dead and his mother bedridden and quarantined by medical staff. Neither Robert nor his sister was allowed to see his mother And as she sat in the care of the hospital, the bills began piling up. Robert and Lilly had two options: they could leave and go into a foster home, or they could try and pay the ever increasing bills.

When it seemed hopeless, a friend of Robert's told him about what was going on in the Sinnoh region. The seeds that could be found there could easily make him a small fortune. However, the idea that one of those seeds could perform miracles caught his attention more than the money he could make selling seeds. If one of those seeds could make his mother well again, it would be worth the trip.

After signing up with a group of Ferreters to go travel to Sinnoh and getting some protection and weaponry, Robert boarded the ship. He was briefed once on board as to what dangers he could expect. His sister traveled with him, but he made it clear to her that she would remain in the safe zones and wait for him. He didn't have the money to simply buy the seed he needed, so it would be up to him to find the life-saving seed and collect enough to cover the hospital bills.

    WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT:
    Standard Issue Gas Mask
    Flare Gun w/ 12 flares
    Backpack
5 Meal Ready to Eat packs
    Canteen
    K-Bar knife
    Pokedex
    Waterproof matches
    Folding Shovel
    Pocket hatchet
    Diver's Suit
OTHER: Any extra details you want to add

    POKÉMON:

    NICKNAME: Freya
    SPECIES: Lucario
    GENDER: Female
APPERANCE: Freya looks like your typical Lucario, but there is a notable exception. During one of her battles along Robert's journey, her chest spike shattered after enduring an ice attack which was followed up by a fire attack. Nurse Joy worked what was left of the chest spike into a flat, circular stump that only came out about half an inch form her chest.
PERSONALITY: Freya is very loyal to her trainer and is always at his side. She dislikes being in her Pokeball, preferring to remain at her trainer's side. She can be motherly, but in combat she is a fierce fighter and cunning. If need be, she can act without Robert's command. She was Robert's first Pokemon and has a very strong bond with him.
OTHER: Being part Steel, she is able to resist the Nexus' mutations and infections moreso than non-steel types in terms of the pollen. She can also use her Aura power to create an energy membrane around herself for additional protection for as long as she can maintain it. This takes some focus to do, so if that focus is broken, the aura barrier will dissipate.

    NICKNAME: Sasha
    SPECIES: Lopunny
    GENDER: Female
APPERANCE: Sasha is a tall Lopunny, being 4" taller than the standard size given by the Pokedex. She keeps her tufts of fur very clean and fluffed-out, and keeps her appearance nice and tidy. Her coloration and general appearance is like most other wild Lopunnies.
PERSONALITY: Sasha is a very friendly and energetic Pokemon. She enjoys performing and dancing, and loves to see other people smiling and happy. She is very protective of her friends, even moreso after her home became engulfed by the jungle and claimed her family and friends.
OTHER: Sasha was captured by Robert after he arrived in Sinnoh, wanting a pokemon that was native there so he would have a guide. being a normal type, she is more at risk for infection than Freya. as a result, Robert will only bring her out if he feels he's lost or if the situation calls for her to fight. Otherwise, she would only be outside of her Pokeball when in the safe zone.

...Ok, here we go. WIP right now, will finish later.

NAME: If he had a proper name before being infected, it has long forgotten. Folks now simply refer to him as The Green Knight.

AGE: Possibly his thirties, although Gallade biology makes this hard to determine. Most guess he was already a fully grown Gallade by the time he began to serve the newly grown Nexus Flower.

    GENDER: Male

    FACTION: Nexus

    RACE: Infected Gallade

APPERANCE: In terms of stature, the Green Knight is hardly changed compared to a normal Gallade, perhaps being a few inches taller at most, the infection has drastically altered his appearance. Most noticeable are his forearms, the wickedly sharp blades now even more dangerous due to becoming serrated with razor-edged thorns. The green parts of his torso and head are covered with smaller thorns on skin which has lost the smoothness of an uninfected Gallade and is instead coarse and barklike. The dark green color has turned more brownish in hue. The white face and lower body are free of thorns, but the skin there has also gained a barklike texture. As could be guessed, physical contact with the Green Knight, while not a direct infection risk, is still a painful proposition at best.

His crest has bloomed into a plume of blue-green flowers, and the red chest marking has sprouted a large indigo blossom from which thin vines sprout and coil into a thinly spaced web over much of the Green Knight's body. The vines have tiny flower bulbs along them, although these hardly ever bloom.

Having lost his Psychic typing and much of his psychic powers with it, the Green Knight can only telepathically commune with fellow infected or other grass types.

PERSONALITY: Each Gallade binds itself to a master, one that it will serve and defend faithfully until its last breath. To the Green Knight, this master is the Nexus Flower. Arguably the flower's most devoted guardian, the Green Knight seeks simply to defend it. He cares little for the high-minded goals of some Nexus zealots to spread the jungle. He cares little for the miraculous seeds. He is simply the guardian of the flower. To that end, he is relentless. Most of the time he can be found among its leaves, a presence which can be tangibly felt on account of his limited psychic power, cautiously eyeing those worshiping his master for potential threats.

As his own being, though, the Green Knight is always fair and direct. He despises deceit and trickery, however, to the point of cutting down even allies if they resort to underhanded tactics. In battle he prefers to face his foes in single combat, although given his station he hardly sees much action. He seldom sees fit to leave the flower but is, if the situation calls for such action, inclined to venture away to deal with matters requiring warriors of his skill. This is, however, very rare, as he seldom engages in unfair fights like a few petty Ferreters or Patrols which delve too deep into the jungle, where his involvement would be unfair to them.

It's worth noting that the Green Knight's bond to the flower is largely one-sided. While he feels the usual urge to protect and serve his master dutifully, he has received nothing outside of infection. Some might interpret this as a sign of illegitimacy, but those who speak such things around the Green Knight find that offending a Gallade's honor is a good way to die.
