Fan-written Trailers- read, inspire, suggest!
We’ve all dreamt of some games that never get made, expansions, elaborations or just a different version then what we got or will get. For any fandom I’m familiar with, I might be inspired to write a trailer for that and I wouldn’t want to take up three or more topics for what are pretty much one-shots, for now at least. I got real inspired for the first two, so I just went and posted them. Criticism is appreciated, hate isn’t.
In comparison with real video trailers, these trailers can appear slow and bland, but I’ll try to add music pieces and vivid descriptions (so far that I can do that) do give you an idea of an ‘epic’ trailer I thought up. Hopefully, it comes across as epic, along with the future game.
Fandom: Mass Effect
Subject: Mass Effect 4?
‘The First Contact war has been going on for three months now and the ruthless lizardheads have conquered Shanxi. Humanity puts a valiant fight against the alien invaders until one day all hostilities are put to a halt…’
Several soldiers are eyeing the slopes of the barren world they are fighting on, looking for any enemies. Suddenly, a small ship that is without question not one of theirs tries to land and one of the soldiers asks their commanding officer:
“Should we shoot it?”
The officer shakes his head and watches as the ship lands no more than a few yards away. Its technology seems quite advanced. Out of the strange vehicle a blue-skinned alien woman appears in unusual stretch-fabric fashion and says:
“Ready to climb aboard?”
Cue music. As there is no confirmed piece that fits Mass Effect 4 perfectly, I tried to select something that came quite close. ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeY_L5EDLGs ; epic pieces (that aren’t already attributed to existing works) are greatly appreciated in the comments.
The soldiers jump from left to right to look out the windows as they enter a lush environment set on a rotating white structure that looks like a giant acropolis. The commanding officer remains calm and asks the blue woman who is conversing with her pilot, a blue woman as well:
“Where are you taking us, Miss…”
The blue woman smiles and says: “I’m not exactly a woman.”
‘The first human sets foot on the citadel…’
The commanding officer steps off the ship and looks around at the buzzing of what seems like a dozen races.
“Wow,” he says.
‘And makes quite a splash.’
The commanding officer gets knocked over by one of the lizardheads.
“Watch it, you… a human?!” it yells before lunging as the blue woman intervenes.
‘Their alien adversaries stand in their way.’
“The Turian Hierarchy will never allow this!” a ‘turian’ yells in a council room with other races as well as the commanding officer who’s there as a guest.
‘But humanity will prove…’
A spaceship gets attacked by an off-screen assailant as they engage in a devastating space battle.
“Everyone’s unconscious, what do we do now, captain Hudson?” a soldier asks.
‘Are going to…’
“We stand and fight,” the commanding officer named Hudson responds.
‘Leave their mark…’
In a third-person perspective captain Hudson picks up a weapon that looks far more advanced than his own sidearm and proceeds to shoot at something that was sneaking up on him. Lights flash as he fights his way through the corridors. In the next scene, he brings down a mech almost singlehandedly and its pilot asks: “What are you?”
‘And the universe will never be the same.’
“The best humanity has,” Captain Hudson retorts, shooting out a strange clip from the gun he just mastered.
‘Mass Effect: Humanity’s Wake’.
‘Guesses’: it sees the rise of humanity and details how they went from newbie race to an unexpected force on the field that shouldn’t be underestimated as they rapidly expand, learn tactics and expand on technology and add to it in a never before seen rate and they prove their value in battles and other conflicts, but with an overarching plot (NOT the Reapers).
