NAME:Sepia skinned Yvonne stands approximately 5’8” with a pear shape form. The back of her byzantium colored hair with amethyst highlights is low cut and trimmed in such a manner until it vaguely appears wavy. From the crown onward is much lengthier and brushed forward, falling across the forehead to her thick, dark lashes, which outlines her close set, brown eyes. The bridge of her nose is not sharply defined as it rounds off into a cylindrical shape that ends wide and flattened. Her maroon lips are average size and she has straight teeth. Her chest is a modest size, enough to ensure she is female with a fleeting glance. However, her annoyance lies with her hips, thighs and backside, which are much more pronounced than she’d like. Other than that, she’s a comfortable 123 pounds and toned without the rigid definition of muscle.
When not “officially” reporting, hiding that short mane of hers majority of the time would be a bandana, which she keeps wrapped about her head and knotted at the back. The color varies, but she’s typically seen with an orange one. When not wearing the bandana on her head, she ties it about her neck as a scarf. Atop this accessory often sits a tricolored—black, orange, and white—field cap. Her white shirt is sleeveless and underneath it is a thinner, black tank top. Over this she wears an orange vest with black lining. Her cargo, capri pants is an orange color with black racing stripes down the sides. On her feet are her favorite tri-colored sneakers that match the color of her outfit. She’s not one for a ton of jewelry, but she does wear gold, hoop earrings and a simple bracelet. If reporting on live television or found in a professional setting, Yvonne would wear heels, a skirt suit or knee length dress, and a buttoned blouse beneath.
PERSONALITY: Yvonne has an inquisitive nature and wants to know the reason why a thing transpires or happens in the manner that it did. She is a direct person and will try the most obvious thing first. Her questions and statements are usually stated bluntly as she dislikes roundabout approaches, although she is capable of doing such. She is observant and perceptive, catching and paying attention to the most minute of details. On some level, Yvonne is a risk taker and doesn’t mind putting her reputation on the line if the result will bring about a greater good. Her all or nothing mentality has landed her in several political fires on more than one occasion. However, she is known for bringing injustices and cruelties to light that would have remained hidden otherwise. The downside is that she is biased against large organizations and the government; targeting them with the vehemence of a gyarados if she suspects there is even a slight chance they mistreat their workers, the community, breaking the law or are just being jerks. Not only that, but she dislikes the media for she feels that it either distorts the truths, doesn’t reveal the truths, or both. She blames the media for painting the trainer’s journey as something that didn’t possess serious repercussions. As such, Yvonne is painfully honest and opinionated. She feels that power should be used to help, not oppress, and this had led her to being called a watchdog. Due to the demands of her job, Yvonne is intelligent and can be quite resourceful.
Majority of the time Yvonne is an optimistic, outgoing, amiable, and determined individual who looks for the best in people. Sometimes her curiosity and doggedness appears in normal conversations unrelated to work, and is seen as intrusive. She is softhearted when it comes to those who’ve had it hard and doesn’t mind helping those in need. If a downtrodden person needs a job, a few bucks, or clothing, Yvonne will provide them with the resources if she is able. She doesn’t mind volunteering at various places that are in need of assistance. She has copious amounts of patience, isn’t the one to really panic, and is generally slow to anger. However, if the right set of buttons is pushed she can become just as pissed as the next person and can hold a grudge.
HISTORY:Yvonne is an investigative reporter who was born to an artistic woman and a serviceman. The place she was born and raised in was Solaceon Town of the Sinnoh Region. Her childhood wasn’t glamorous, nor was it riddled with difficulties. For the lack of a better word, it was normal up until her Pokémon journey. As a child, Yvonne loved television and wanted to be on camera. To be a movie star and work at Poké Star Studios was the eight-year-old’s goal. Time and school eventually tempered this dream. When she reached the age of ten, she did consider going on a journey since that was all kids ever seemed to talk about in school. Even on television it appeared to be a big thing. Commercials always showed trainers happily traveling together, conquering the many challenges that lied before them through hard work and sheer determination. Talk shows appeared to always be riddled with gym leaders, elite four members, champions, coordinators, and the like sharing with the audience the struggles and good times they faced on their journeys. Yvonne wanted to meet new people, explore new places, forge unbreakable bonds, find love, and overcome the hardships that would propel her to legendary status. She and her mother went to the Pokémon Center in order to apply for a trainer’s license. Her father, after careful selection, provided her starting Pokémon. He wanted her to take Vers, but being a military Pokémon it was disqualified from being a registered trainer’s Pokémon, that and Yvonne felt she could handle the road herself. Neither of these things stopped her father from having the Pokémon stowaway in her backpack. That following summer, with the Pokémon chosen by her father and a notebook for keeping track of her ventures, the rookie trainer set off on the path that would lead her to greatness. Unfortunately, Yvonne was destined to be illuminated on the real hardships trainers endured.
The journey was short-lived. It wasn’t just from the energy required to deal with a journey, which she didn’t quite have, but a few frightening experiences. Yvonne was not, by any means, a lazy, unfit child. According to the people in town, she was considered to be extremely energetic. By the time she reached Hearthome City, however, her body was protesting from the exertion. Camping outdoors wasn’t as exciting as it was made out to be and vowed to never take toiletries for granted. Food ran out quickly and some days she went hungry. These things she anticipated, for the most part. She pressed on though, wanting the illustriousness that waited at the end. Money became scarce, leading her to betting when it came to Pokémon battles. Many battles were fought. Her win-lose streaks were often even and so resulted in her not being financially stable. She did travel with a few struggling, fellow trainers, but decided go the journey alone for a while when she found things missing from her backpack on several occasions. She even caught one person with their hand in her bag after their pained yell woke her up. One of the frightening experiences happened on the way to Jubilife City. En route to the metropolis, Yvonne ran across a gangling boy. While his gauntness stood out to her, it really didn’t alarm her as it should have because she had seen many skinny trainers during her travels. Either that or she assumed that she had the same chances of running into an individual starved to death as she did meeting a legendary Pokémon. When he didn’t take the offered apple or awoke at her shouting, Yvonne attempted to shake him awake. She found his body to be board stiff, which she would later learn was rigor mortis. It didn’t take her long to arrive at the conclusion that the boy was dead. A kid who appeared to be no older than her had starved to death, so the proper authorities later told her.
This event had left her dazed. Her parents suggested she return home, after she had called and told them what happened, but Yvonne was determined to keep going. It would be something to talk about when she related her story on one of those talk shows. The nail in the coffin came about when she needed to venture through Ravaged Path to Floaroma Town. Prior to reaching the cave, various people had warned her about a trainer in the area preying on young female trainers. They assumed him to be using a psychic Pokémon or one capable of using sing since all victims reported hearing something that sounded like a lullaby prior to the assault. Officers and rangers patrolled the area, but still had yet to find the culprit. As fate would have it, Yvonne had a run in with the unsavory individual. She had one Lola out at the time when she heard the singing. Acting quickly, she plugged her ears, but the sound had already begun to make her drowsy. Lola had already succumbed to the sound when she wasn’t paying attention. While she could scrap for a kid, she was no match an adult. If it hadn’t been for Vers coming to her rescue, her innocence would have been lost. While the attack did scare her, her inability to do anything about it scared her more. The man was apprehended and sent to prison. A female ranger was assigned to stay with Yvonne at Jubilife’s Pokémon Center until her parents came. The criminal was convicted and sentenced to fifteen years behind bars.
Yvonne shelved her license and gave away all her Pokémon, except Lola who wanted to stay. In retrospect, she wondered why she even went on a journey in the first place since she was never really interested in Pokémon. Afterwards, Yvonne continued her education by attending a normal grade school and going on to a college in Jubilife City immediately after graduating. During high school she worked at a grocery store and a Poké Mart as a clerk. At some point she volunteered at the local Pokémon News Press when they posted a help wanted sign. They gave her poké balls as a form of payment, but seeing as she was no longer a trainer, Yvonne sold the items for money. It is this place that spawned and cultivated her interest in journalism. At the time, however, it was only a mild interest. Yvonne did a mock article of her experience as a trainer. Upon finding and reading the article, the establishment’s owner critiqued her work, saying it was excellent although quite vehement. He asked if she would be interested in being a columnist. Yvonne wasn’t too certain, but with a little prodding, took a step in the direction of something that would become her career.
While in college, she focused solely on Pokémon trainers and the dangers that awaited them on their journeys. She wanted future adventurers and the public to be aware of what really lied in the path to becoming a trainer. The college began pulling some of her articles, finding them too “negative” or "discouraging." They asked her to omit certain details, ones she found significant, from her work. Needless to say, this didn’t sit well with her and she began writing cynical articles about the college. This did not stop her from wanting the people to be informed and kept sending articles to various places under pseudonyms, including Pokémon New Press. Her intense stance, coupled with interviews and thorough research, actually instigated the Sinnoh government to launch several significant reforms concerning Pokémon training. She interned at various news stations, including one that was located in Goldenrod City, Johto where she would later work as a fulltime investigative journalist covering a multitude of topics.
She was made aware of something, by a coast guard friend of hers, going on in Johto that potentially concerned a legendary Pokemon. He is uncertain about what he saw and even waves it off, but just out of curiosity, Yvonne went to investigate the scene once things had settled. She isn't entirely sure that it was a legendary Pokemon he had seen and leans more towards it possibly having been some sort of new secret, technology built by the government or an organization with too much time on their hands. Yvonne told him to keep in touch, just in case.
OTHER:Yvonne has won various awards in journalism and even photography. She has most likely has gained some level of notoriety amongst corporations, organizations, and a few government officials. Always on her person are writing tools and small notebooks. On her as well are a variety of small gadgets, which she keeps concealed, that are capable of recording video, sound, and even remotely download digital files, though she refrains from doing the latter without permission. These were made by geeks she had befriended and/or helped previously. She also has numerous contacts at her disposal. As far as protecting herself, Yvonne knows some self-defense and fighting techniques (including some martial arts), thanks to her father.
POKÉMONVers is a standard pink blob of a ditto with beady eyes and thin mouth. Vers’ name comes from versatile because that is what this little ditto is to its current owner. It was previously owned and trained by her serviceman father and so Vers has been with the family since before Yvonne’s birth. While capable of transforming into Pokémon and inanimate objects, Vers is also adept at transforming into humans, particularly in shape shifting into a tall, red haired human male who often poses as Yvonne’s cameraman and bodyguard. Unusual for a Pokémon is the fact that Vers is capable of utilizing bladed weapons and even knows some hand-to-hand combat skills in his human form. Being a military Pokémon, Vers normally has a rather stoic and businesslike demeanor; though being around Yvonne has softened it. It is dedicated to the individual to whom it is assigned, though none will come close to having the level of dedication it has for Yvonne’s father. While Vers has an impressive memory for a ditto and is capable of transforming into things through recollection, it still prefers to have a model to work from when transforming. Yvonne has a tendency to refer to it as a ‘he.’
DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY:
NICKNAME:Lola was the first Pokémon Yvonne caught and one that decided to the stay with her after she quit her journey. She looks like a normal brown lopunny with large, bushy ears and cream-colored tuffs of fur. She stands at about 4’2” and weighs about 80 pounds. Much like Yvonne, Lola is outgoing, perky, and helpful. Making friends with other Pokémon and people is her hobby. Her cheerful attitude usually does wonders with putting people at ease. She assists Yvonne with her investigations, including interviews by conversing with local Pokémon in order to get clues and details that would not have been gotten otherwise. Due to her fastidious nature, Lola has designated herself as Yvonne’s maid and secretary by keeping her office clean and files in order. She does occasionally flirt with male Pokémon she finds attractive. The rabbit still feels guilty about what nearly happened to Yvonne at Ravaged Path and so dedicates herself to her trainer as reparation. Lola's name came from one of Yvonne's favorite cartoon characters.
