    Default Night at the Asylum [Rated R] Sign-Up

    This is a short RPG and a spooky one. Slightly inspired by Bioshock (least with the power-ups).

    One year....

    It has been one year, since the disappearance. One year ago, a group of students were called for a special field trip over at the Arkham Lovecraft Asylum for the Criminally Insane, better known as Lovecraft Asylum. This rather haunting and Gothic place was once the largest and most secure asylum ever. However, beyond it being a caring jailcenter for the evilly mad, it was also home to many top secret government experiments. Despite this, the place was relatively normal. Somethign changed.... Around fifty years ago, two people entered that would forever impact this place.

    Merlin and Franklin Stein, a pair of twin brothers.

    Merlin was one of the most dangerous inmates. The leader of a revived ancient cult, he led his group to commit many crimes and was inspired by horrorific tales of mad gods and the supernatural. He was in a cell all by himself. He kept to himself anyway. Did little beyond write and read. Only one person he talked to consistently.

    His older twin brother, Franklin.

    Franklin was an accomplised doctor, a master of many biologies. Despite hs eccentric and creepy natures, his discoveries were heralded as legendary. He was called in by the government to assist in the experiments. His public reason and secondary overall reason was to be the private doctor of his younger brother.

    However, Franklin was just as insane.

    While, the government worked, he talked to his brother, about combining their expertise. They created formulas, charts, diagrams, runes and incantations of the foulest kind. Franklin snuck in hs brother's spellbook and with it, they created an evil set of arcane chemicals.

    The first was presented as bioweapons for the special soliders.

    ArcaneBolts.

    Injections resmblign Frankenstein bolts, soliders could inject them for a variety of superhuman powers. The tests showed that they caused accumalating insanity however,

    The second were also bioweapons, but of an even more magical natures.

    Labelled as D3-M0ns, they were genetically modified superhuman monsters. By combining the inmates with various animal DNA and vaious ArcaneBolts and even cyborgnetic parts, these monsters were made. They could also contaminate others and turn them into D3-M0ns.

    Despite the appeal, the project was being shutdown. To ensure their legacy, Merlin summoned the most powerful being he could while Frank finished the barebones prototype of his master-piece. They then locked it in a massive airtight room and put it in a puzzle.

    Whoever solved it, they would inherit the legacy of the Mad Stein Brothers. For their crimes against humanity, both were executed, their experiments were locked up and all was well...

    Until a year ago.

    During that field-trip, someone wandered off, he was drawn by the massive gate. He did what people thought was inpossible. He solved the possible. When the door crepted opened, he was sucked in by the air rushing in.

    There was loud tortured screams before there was silence. The field trip abruptly ended upon discovering he vanished. They tried to look for him, but to no avail. However, you all glimpsed at him, staring at the door.

    And now, in your dreams, you have been beckoned to return.

    To return at the large, ornate and haunting asylum where your peer disappeared.

    Now, for the types of ArcaneBolts. They were inspired by the Plasmids of Bioshock. I will display their name, ability and how much insanity they give you. They all last 5 turns ( 5 posts) and can have only one active at a time.

    ArcaneBolt: Electro
    Ability: Sends a jolt of electricity to shock opponents or unlock electronic doors.
    Insanity Cost: 15


    ArcaneBolt: Flame
    Abilitiy: Breathe fire and coat one’s self in flames.
    Insanity Cost: 10

    ArcaneBolt: Venom
    Ability: Inject venom through biting, scratching and spitting it as a mist, stream or bubbles.
    Insanity Cost: 10

    ArcaneBolt: Ice
    Ability: Breathe out a freezing wind and release icicles.
    Insanity Cost: 10

    ArcaneBolt: Swarm
    Ability: Host a temporary hive of cyborg bees to attack the enemy and serve as scouts.
    Insanity Cost: 15

    ArcaneBolt: Telekinesis
    Ability: Grants the user temporary powers of telekinesis, to move and pick up objects with the mind.
    Insanity Cost: 20

    ArcaneBolt: Sonic
    Ability: Grants the user able to release large breaths, either as a strong burst or a piercing sound whistle which can shatter glass.
    Insanity Cost: 15

    ArcaneBolt: Durable
    Ability: Grants the user a hard and protective exoskeleton and strength needed to carry it.
    Insanity Cost: 10

    ArcaneBolt: Bone
    Ability: Grants the user to grow bones outside their body, to wield as weapons.
    Insanity Cost: 15

    ArcaneBolt: Hypnosis
    Ability: Allows the user to release bursts of hypnotic light and temporary control a monster.
    Insanity Cost: 15

    ArcaneBolt: Plant
    Ability: Allows the user to sprout powerful seeds and control mentally control vines from limbs.
    Insanity Cost: 15

    Ability: The user’s psyche is healed from the duress.
    Heals X Insanity; (Bronze is 10, Silver is 20, and Gold is 30)

    Now for the D3-M0ns. They are divided into two categories: M0nst3rs and Hum@n0ids
    M0nst3rs were the first to be created. They are chimera-like. They are made solely from the mixed parts of animals and ArcaneBolts. Here is a list, in name, description and ArcaneBolts used:

    Description: A large bird, a wingspan of 12 feet. Is black with ornate coloring.

    Name: Chimera
    Description: Front body of a lion, the back ends of a ram and a live snake for a tail

    Name: Hellhound
    Description: A large dire wolf with black and red coloring.

    Description: A large carnivorous monster resembling a bipedal reindeer.

    Hum@n0ids are made using humans, many of the inmates in the Asylum were used as test subjects for these and have loyalty to the Master of the Domain.

    Description: The unholy mix of animal and plant, a human with control over plants and animals.

    Name: Incubi/Succubi
    Description: The elite of the Hum@n0ids, they are the tempters of the people coming in and the strongest of the monsters here. They are quite powerful, able to fly and resembling attractive people.
    ArcaneBolts: Hypnotism, Electro, Durable

    Beyond the 14 types of monsters you face here, you must beware the Master of the Domain. His name you cannot remember though it will come soon. Trapped in the Asylum, your mission is to escape alive and sane. Use the ArcaneBolts to fight the monsters and use the ZenBolts to keep your sanity up. Beware. If you are fully insane, then you belong to the Master, as he drags you into the darkness and remakes you into his servant.

    So, escape or enslavement…

    (2) This is rated R so violence, substance abuse and limited mature content can be seen. Nothing explicity when it comes to sex, just do the implications.
    (3) Follow the Serebii rules
    (4) Try and post frequently. This is a short RPG and you guys decide whether peopel get free, get mutated/brainwashed or so on.

    Dexter Glass
    Age: 18
    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

    Dexter stands at five foot, 9 inches, a bit pale and a bit thin. He has low cheekbones, a boyish face, a goatee and wears a special pair of glasses that were prescribed to him to protect his sensitive eyes. His hair is red, though it is unsure if it is dyed or not. He has slightly bigger than average eyes, which are an interesting shade of green. His eyes are large enough that they are noticeably larger than average, even by a margin amount.

    Dexter wears a somewhat loose black t-shirt with the image of simple ghost on it. Over it, he wears a black hoodie that says "SURVIVOR." He has on some black cargo pants with a good amount of pockets to carry stuff in if he needs to. He completes this with socks and shoes. He also has bandages around him. Recently he seems to be coming down with a cold, so he's been a cough mask and a scarf. He also has sensitive eyes so he has prescribed special glasses that he wears.


    Personality: Quiet and mysterious, Dexter is a silent enigma of the group. He is highly intelligent and is able to come up with plans and deductions with little time. He does not trust people easily, citing that he has trust issues since childhood. He does have a child-like smile and enjoys goofy things so he is a kid at heart. He can also be cold and cunning. Relying on deadpan snark and observations, he isn't afraid to speak his mind.

    Despite this, he is also someone of short temper. If something upsets him enough, he will usually skip the witty banter and go with physical violence. He occasionally chuckles to himself and has something of a dark sense of humor. When bringing up the boy, he seems to shiver a bit and grow even paler. He does not like talking about it though whether he talks is a matter of opinion. He is the only one of the group to remember his real name, but has no intention of revealing it.

    History: Dexter's biggest interest point is his lack of history. Little is known about him though from what has been gathered by guidance councelors, he was orphaned at a young age, losing his family and younger sibiling. A brilliant if not troubled student, he was forever changed by the incident that occured at the museum. He was not on role initially, though that was because he just transferred into the class and thus they couldn't update it in time.

    Since that bad year, he was suffering from nightmares. He had graduated high school and began working on his degree in art. He had been earning money through various sorts of jobs. Now that he is off, he has been feeling the need to revisit the asylum and see if he could find the boy's body, to at least provide closure to the family.

    I love survival horror and Bioshock is my favorite game series. This is good in my books. I'll take a reserve. vuv

    You know what? This has lured me in. Bioshock was a fantastic game, and has been a fantastic series, and its all, spooky and creepy-sounding this, so yeah. Chuck me a reserve!

    Name: Chris Dietrich
    Age: 19
    Gender: Male

    Appearance: Chris stands at a rather respectable height, and average weight. His face appears somewhat rigid looking, with high cheek bones, and a strong chinline with a slight dimple. Chris has hair pushed up into a dark blonde mohawk, a true mohawk, none of that stupid fauxhawk business here. His eyes are slightly ovalish, giving a somewhat catish appearance to Chris' brown eyes..

    For clothing, and his current profession, Chris wears a white dress shirt and grey vest combo, with a small black bowtie. A pair of dark jeans, black sneakers, and white gloves complete the outfit. Added touches that he has added include a fedora, because those are in, and a belt with a special compartment for holding decks of cards.

    Personality: Chris was never one for what shall we say... family friednly-ness? He has always had an anti-social, and a loud and crash voice and opinion. If you make a stupid mistake, or endanger Chris, oh, you will hear about it, in deep, dark, loud, crude details. He also isn't a very good person to give orders to, all through out his school years, he was one of those kids that continuously press a teacher's button for no reason.

    Chris isn't very noble either, he will fight dirty whenever needed, he claims that "Only chivalrous fools fight clean, and fools die." and will always try and hit the places that will get the fight over as soon as possible. He is also quite the gambler, a trait he's had since elementary school, and has only grown since then, he'll go out of his way to find a stupid thing that he could possibly make a buck out of.

    History: Chris was born to a rather lower class house, his father being a simple construction worker, and his mom a home maker, things were lean, so Chris had to find a way of making his own little pocket money from a young age, starting out with a few Yugioh cards that he "picked up" at a store one day. Chris would use them as an ante in the school's sports games, and even the class elections. He never had much respect for the people in charge, be it his parents, or his teachers, and for that reason, he regularly received detentions and beatings from his father, he always seemed to laugh at the reactions, stating that they would never stop him.

    On the day of the accident, Chris was busy trying to talk up some blonde cheerleader, as you might guess that didn't work out, what with a student going missing and everything. He even cursed at the kid, saying how if he didn't go, Chris would've been able to get with the cheerleader.

    Since then, Chris has been living on his own in a small apartment, making a living being a dealer at a small underground casino, which is pretty fun. Recently though, he's begun getting strange dreams, dreams about the boy, and the accident, and where the hell did he go, and why the hell did he have to up and go cockblock him.

    Name: Ashlee 'Ash' Hunter
    Age: 17
    Gender: Female

    Appearance: Ashlee is around 5'4" and weighs about 145 pounds, putting her at an average weight and height for a girl her age. She has straight black hair that usually looks like she took a lot of time to do it in the morning, and icy blue eyes that contrast her pale white skin by quite a large margin. She has a few freckles dotting her otherwise perfect complexion. The rest of her body is rather average, and not really a huge masterpiece to look at. However, she is considered quite cute.

    For clothing, Ashlee is rather fashionable. She usually wears t-shirts with band logos on them, with a regular pair of jeans and dress shoes. (She probably shops at Macy's a lot). Over top of her shirts she usually wears her blue winter dress coat with a bright red scarf tied around her neck.

    Personality: Ashlee is usually icy calm, no matter what sort of situation she's in. She tends to not show much emotion to anyone she talks to unless she genuinely cares for that person. She's very sarcastic, however when she tries to make actual jokes they sound forced and rather dark. Ashlee likes to plan things before actually making them happen, and she usually puts quite a bit of planning into whatever she does.

    Ashlee dislikes eye contact and tends to avoid it whenever possible, this often gets her mistaken for someone with Autism, however she's just genuinely nervous and heavily dislikes looking even her family in the eye. She's very distrustful and has a lot of trouble finding you trustworthy, even when you only have her best interest in mind. However, she's very smart and is able to solve difficult problems with a little bit of thought.

    History: Ashlee was born to a fairly standard household, and lived a rather middle class life. Her father was a pipe cutter for a small company that didn't exactly pay well, and her mother left when she was very young; wanting to pursue a dream that made her leave her daughter and husband. Thus, Ashlee has very little recollection of her mother, only remembering her father when thinking of who raised her.

    Her father tried his hardest to give Ashlee a normal life, sending her to school the moment he saved up enough money. He managed to support her in this way all the way through middle school as well, and she was a good kid, always getting good marks and trying her hardest to be a good student. Ashlee also developed a love for music, and would often sneak out at night to go see local bands preform. She even saved up her money and bought herself a guitar when she entered high school.

    However, her life also changed rather drastically when she was thrust into high school. Her father was sent to jail for crimes that Ashlee was convinced her father couldn't have done, however the detective sat Ashlee down and explained all the evidence against her father. Ashlee became rather distraught, not knowing who or what to believe anymore, especially when she could hear people regarding her with contempt as she walked through the halls.

    Ashlee's life slowly got better, however. With the addition of some friends, and with the detective who took down her father becoming her legal guardian. She was enabled to go on a field trip to the Lovecraft Asylum, which had always intrigued Ashlee. However, it wasn't an uneventful field trip.

    A student went missing on the field trip, and was never seen again. Ashlee knew that she caught a glimpse of him as she was shoved towards the bus, though.

    Ashlee now lives in a College dorm by herself, and she's been having some odd dreams as of late. She has a sudden feeling that she needs to go back to the Asylum from High School.
