Huh. So they've gone. Well, that's that then. Hopefully the next set of travelling companions will have well defined goals that can actually be shown and developed upon. And maybe show a little more emotion when they leave. Well, I suppose they got closer to visiting Ash's home than Dawn ever did, at least they got to the same region!
I wonder if after May, Ash decided to never bring a girl home to his mother again.

Is it not time that Team Rocket blasted off once and for all? Perhaps if Charizard learned Blast Burn, Ash could go on a journey without being bothered by them ever again!

Question: what happened to the Iris and Gible thing? Did I miss something there? I've only seen the pictures of the episode, but I didn't see Gible anywhere. So I take it that its not Ash's then? Is it going to be seen in special? Seriously, what the hell?

Whoever wrote this episode did a terrible job. It's like they wrote an episode for a random COTD not Iris and CIlan.

Seriously, this whole episode was just bad. Ugh

May and Max got the same rushed sendoff at the end of AG, why are people acting like this is new? And May/Max were gone in the first 5 minutes of their last episode.

And y'all wanted Team Rocket to go back to appearing in every episode again.

Anyway, it was a fun episode, I came in with low expectations due to Team Rocket being in the episode and likely eating up a significant amount of screen time in the process and I'm not disappointed at all surprisingly. I enjoyed seeing the BW trio work together to save their Pokemon, it was nice see Lizardon take on TR's Pokemon and roasting Kojiro's little mushroom like that was great, if only because he looked cool while doing it. Nice to see them all in heroic poses sending TR packing easily, their plan was actually well pieced together in some regards. I liked the part where they're all looking and in awe of all the Pokemon, Iris of course assumed Gyarados was a Dragon-type and Dento corrected her.(Foreshadowing for when he captures one?) In-general it was nice to see those two so zealous of all the Kanto Pokemon, being amazed by a simple pigeon Pokemon Satoshi has seen thousands of times for example as well as Iris mimicking Dento's pose. I liked Pansy's little send off souvenirs and I really thought it was cute how they both had their last words with Satoshi and yes the sendoff could have been done better. So with the departure of Iris and Dento, it's onward to Okido-Hakase's lab and Masara Town.

I'd be really annoyed if we didn't have specials for these two on the way.

Team Rocket is great in this episode, more than usual in theanime. The departure was bad , specially from irios and Cilan. Ash is the only one showing emotion at all, the departure suddenly "happens" 2 minutes before the event for no reason, and with no sign of sadness from anybody not named Ash Ketchum/Satoshi. The episode appears like if we are giving a goodbye to a Gym Leader that only battles with Ash.

And to complete this, there's a Da 20 before the ending., Why not make the departure here?

First of all many people didn't want that. :P

Second, I like them appearaning more often, and in comedy.

Oh hey, this episode was primarily about Team Rocket.

    Imagine that.
Misinterpreting my posts is not your fault, negative repping me, and getting very sensitive about my posts because you misinterpreted my posts however is your fault. Think really hard, before negative repping or making a big deal about my posts. I don't appreciate being negative repped for reasons that are a result of misinterpreting my posts.

Well, at least they both seemed upset at leaving, unlike Iris and Cilan. And Ash and May at least had their contest battle and split the prize ribbon between them, to remind them of each other.
Where was something like that for Iris or Cilan?

    Liked the episode.

But honestly, they had to do the Team Rocket thing in another episode, would actually be a perfect filler, I guess.

But honestly, did they really not see that Jessie was both herself and James? That's a bit..... But yeah, their disguises also always work on Ash and co, so this isn't actually really a surprise.

The departure of Iris and Cilan went very quick, it felt a little sad, but that's about it.

1 (2 with special) more ep of BW and then to XY, with the hope that the writing improved....big time.

*sigh* the BW writers need to be fired. It's unbelievable that even in a departure episode, the writers still decide to be lazy and give us some half-as* attempt. I'd break my computer if we didn't have those specials coming.

That was the worst departure ep ever. Lyra had a better ep. I mean besides the train station scene everything was so flat and without meaning. Both Iris and Cilan deserved better. Hopefully Cilan´s special will be better.

I didn't think the departure was that bad compared to past ones:

    - May/Max got a rushed 5 minute sendoff

    - Brock's departure at the end of DP was only 30 seconds

Brock had many departures though. DP Ending was rushed because of BW in the first place, so yeah -__-
Even if rushed, it still was better than BW's. Atleast they had BGMs playing there. YES. "Tears After the Cloudy Weather". Did the Anime Studio forgot they have two CDs of awesome music? It was bad to watch the entire BW season with the same 7 songs playing over and over.

May's leaving came at the end of a battle with Ash that resulted in a draw and cemented their friendship, and there was a nice moment of Ash being very "older brother" to an upset Max.
Ash and Brock parted ways as strong friends.

Iris and Cilan make a big deal throughout DA about going to Kanto, are there for two minutes and then clear off to Johto in a snap decision that came right out of left field.

What a sad episode. I'm pressed that Team Rocket got so much screen-time during such an important departure episode, but I should have expected this to happen; I mean this is still BW after all. It was nice to see Ash and the others in action one last time though; that was satisfying. Vermilion City looked like any other city though which was a disappointment; it's like the animators can't be bothered to make cities look dynamic anymore. I'm glad Iris and Cilan left via train as opposed to them walking to Johto; was that the Magnet Train or a generic train? Anyway, the flashbacks were cute and the episode brought tears to my eyes, from sadness this time.

I just saw the episode for real. lol @ Iris thinking Gyarados is a dragon type. I quite like that gag despite only occurring twice.

Their exit is very, very sudden though. My Japanese isn't great and I haven't seen DA10-18 but it seems like Ash and Iris' paths were already decided prior to being here? It doesn't seem so random that way. The fact that Iris and Cilan don't even seem to care is quite odd either way.

The funny thing about Team Rocket? Not only did they get all the attention, they even went out of their way to animate new motto footage just for this occasion! To be honest I love how absolutely ridiculous Jessie looked trying to convince Ash that James was right there with her. I actually kind of liked the filler part of the episode. Come to think of it, it makes perfect sense. The Best Wishes writers are much better at writing filler than serious plots. It's no wonder we got entertaining filler and a rushed abrupt ending.

Cilan mentioned the Linear Motorcar (Magnet Train) in Yamabuki City (Saffron City), so yeah that's how they went to Johto. Nice reference.

May and Ash already had a good - bye type episode with her battle against, it showed a lot about there relationship, they got pretty much an entire episode on that. They showed Max cry and care about every one, unlike these guys

I still don't understand why Iris was even apart of the group in the first place, no expiation nothing? Than, to make matters worse she doesn't even cry?? At least we had a reason why Dento went with Ash, not crying either though, which is strange since he seemed the kind of guy to do that. Guess the BW trio weren't that close after all

Don't forget the ribbon that they shared!

I think Iris was there because they were trying to make it like the original series - Ash plus a girl who wants to be a type specialist plus a guy who acts like their personal chef and tour guide. I think that the writers proved once and for all in this series that they can't write a decent story for a type specialist

Haven't been keeping up that much with every episode, but did Iris or Cilan mention earlier that they would be in Kanto for about an hour before moving on to Johto? I think I remember back in DP, Brock was running around getting souvenirs for his family at the last second, showing that he would go back to Pewter rather than just follow Ash to Pallet. Not to mention the Pokemon doctor episode (which came out of nowhere, but at least it was one episode before the end of DP). Here, Ash announces he's going back to Kanto, Iris and Cilan decide to follow him, they reach Kanto then... they leave Kanto in five minutes? Unless Iris only now finds out the dragon gym is in Johto (she's not that well-informed, especially about non-Unova Pokemon what with thinking Charizard was a dragon-type)?

It can't be that sudden, can it? Well, I could say its BW, of course it could be that sudden, but I'm trying not to fall back on that explanation. Despite what sounds like wasting half the episode on another generic Team Rocket scheme.

What I find more odd is how none of Ash's travel companions go to Pallet anymore. Between Dawn and Iris/Cilan they left before Ash went back home.

May and Max were the last characters to actually go to Pallet.

Well, this is what I thought : BW wasn't meant to be a sad season. Almost no sad episode, no sad departure... I miss theses episodes. Now, it's like all rainbow and it's not the same.
