Okay, I've been skimming this thread for a bit and many people suggest Aegislash as a Must-Have! I just started on Pokémon Y with Chespin and I see that many of the people that started with Chespin also has added Squirtle to their team. I for one likes to use just 1 starter pokemon and therefor don't want to have Squirtle in my team.

About Aegislash: How early is it obtainable? It evolves with a Dusk Stone right? What is the earliest point I can get that stone?

The rest of the team, what would be a nice balanced team without it being too standard?

you can use the super training to get any stone at any point in the game

Honedge is catchable on Route 6, which is just before the battle with Snorlax. If you don't want to grind Super Training for hours on end to collect evolution stones, the earliest the Dusk Stone is available is not until after the Team Flare plot ends. An ex-Flare grunt in Laverre gives you one after their criminal enterprise disbands, and you can spelunk in Terminus Cave, just off Route 18, for another one.

i`m not sure if gengar would be a good choice on this team but any help would be greatly appreciated
    For Klefki
I would try to use Substitute in its moveset, since it can be extremely annoying, to keep using Substitude until your opponent hurts itself, then use Thunder Wave to give it less chance to attack and slows it down, I uses Spike afterward, but people usually prefer Foul Play more due to its low attack.

    For Azumarill
You need to use Waterfall over Aqua Tail since it has higher accuracy and some chances to flinch the opponent. I would go for Choice Band on Azumarill.

    Hope this help

You could go for an Aqua Jet/Belly Drum set on Azumarill. As for a hold item, Muscle Band couldn't hurt.

Yeah, give Klefki Sub, and get rid of Swagger for it. That'll definitely improve its annoyance by a lot.

As for your mega, you could go with Mega Garchomp as a wall-breaker. Give him EQ/Dual Chop/Rock Slide/Sandstorm, give him an Adamant nature, and EV him in Atk/Spd/Def. Dual Chop hacks thru Subs, Sandstorm lets him use Sand Force and adds to Klefki's annoyance, and EQ/RS gives stellar coverage.

Careful, tho, because half your team isn't immune to Sandstorm, and could fall victim to your own tactics. I suggest giving Protean Greninja Spikes over U-turn, so he, too, can be immune to Sandstorm, as well as add his own layer of extra annoyance to the mix.

Noivern can get Dragon Pulse/Air Slash/Boomburst/Sludge Bomb, if you plan to make him a Specs user.

Aegislash needs a Brave nature and a 0 Spd IV, so he can use his capabilities to their maximum output. If you plan to use him in anything other than Singles, tho, you'll want an Adamant nature, a 31 Spd IV, and Shadow Claw over Sneak.

I don't know if you'd want Aegislash because that would give you 2 fighting types, Chestnaught & the ladder

I'm thinking of building a ghost team for post-game.
Gengar, Banette, Aegislash, Trevenant/Gourgeist, and I'm not sure about the other two.

I'm so happy that there are many more choices for Ghost-types now, compared to Gen I and II.

    How about Prankster Sableye?

Anyone saying Red is a good trainer please explain to me how he can have a Jolteon get OHKO'ed by a Thunderbolt. From a Rhyhorn.

So I just have a quick question about my Flygon. Is teaching it Steel Wing over Flamethrower a good idea? I know it seems like a crazy idea, but here me out.

Fire covers Bug, Grass, Steel & Ice. Bug & Grass are covered by Fly and Steel is covered by Earthquake as well. With Steel Wing, it covers Rock (which EQ covers as well), Ice & Fairy. Got two of its biggest weaknesses covered that way.

Also, my Flygon has a Muscle Band and its Attack is 249, with 203 in Special Attack. Steel Wing has 70 power (though 90 accuracy, which is risky) and Flamethrower has 90 power. The Muscle Band gives Steel Wing 77 power, so would the higher Attack make it stronger than Flametrower?

Considering giving Flygon a Life Orb, which would give it 91 power, so plus higher attack would make it stronger than Flamethrower.

If you do need a fire attack, go Fire Blast or bust.

As for the two, do you really need the Steel Wing? Considering that the mostly used fairies, Azumarill and to a lesser extent (Mega) Mawille are neutral to Steel type attacks, you're better off firing STAB Earthquakes against them. The only noteworthy fairy that would otherwise be hit super-effectively by Steel Wing would be Gardevoir/Mega Gardevoir, but even then her defense is practically non-existent STAB EQ will still be a better choice and will probably result in an OHKO.

On the other hand, Fire Blast will net you more damage against your banes, which are named Skarmory and Ferrothorn. Life Orb will also boost Special Attack damage, so the item attached will not really be an issue.

Didn't actually know the Life Orb boosted Special Attacks too. I think I'll switch Flamethrower for Fire Blast and give it a Life Orb when I have enough BP (and my Gogoat as well).

Update on Ingame team at Victory Road Entrance (Turned EXP Share off as the game was getting too easy):

Chesnaught @ Rocky Helmet (lvl 63)
    Impish Nature
    Leech Seed
    Wood Hammer
    Brick Break
    Rock Slide

Greninja @ Shell Bell (lvl 63)
    Hasty Nature
    Surf
    Dark Pulse
    U-turn
    Ice Beam

Delphox @ Expert Belt (lvl 63)
    Modest Nature
    Calm Mind
    Flamethrower
    Psychic
    Shadow Ball

    Heliolisk @ N/A (lvl 63)
    Timid Nature
    Thunder Wave
    Thunderbolt
    Surf
    Focus Blast

    Aegislash @ Leftovers (lvl 63)
    Adamant Nature
    Swords Dance
    King's Shield
    Shadow Sneak
    Sacred Sword

    Noivern @ Metronome (lvl 63)
    Timid Nature
    Fly
    Air Slash

    Boomburst

All pokemon are dual type with no type repetition and are all from Kalos.

    Calm Mind

You don't want 2 Psychic Move, Shadow Ball or Grass Knot as coverages and Calm Mind to raise its Special Attack and Special Defense.

    Borealis (Aurorus, Male) LV 72
    Moves:
    Icy wind
    Return
    Ancient power
    Ice beam

    Eclipse (Absol, Female) LV 59

    Beard (Gogoat, Male) LV 70
    Moves:
    Rock Slide/Wild Charge
    Leaf blade
    Surf
    Earthquake

Once you push all the rock, replace Strenght with Rock Slide or Wild Charge for coverages.

Durambros (Blastoise, Male and there is a Monster Hunter P3rd and Ultimate reference! Search Durambros) LV 71
    Moves:
    Ice beam
    Brick Break
    Surf
    Bite

Before I rate this Pokemon, I need to ask first whether it is Mega or not. Also Duramboros is much bigger than Blastoise lol (and it jumps a lot higher).

    Tenebris (Noivern, Male) LV 52
    Moves:
    Flamethrower
    Fly/Boomburst
    Air Slash
    Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse

Leech Life doesn't cover much and deals way too less damage, Super Fang will never kill a Pokemon and Noivern would faint before it could do anything else. If possible replace Fly with Boomburst for damages.

This is just my Ingame non-competitive team.
    Changes are in Bold.

    Hope this help

    Here's my current team:

    Ttar-Jolly nature
    Crunch
    Stone Edge
    Stealth Rock
    EQ

    Garchomp- Jolly nature
    Crunch
    Poison Jab
    EQ
    Dragon Claw

    Gyarados- Adamant (Moxie)
    DD
    Stone Edge
    Waterfall

    Hydreigon- Modest
    Dragon Pulse
    Dark Pulse
    Flamethrower

    Metagross- Adamant
    Meteor Mash
    EQ
    Hammer Arm
    Zen Headbutt

    Aegislash- Brave
    Night Slash
    Sacred Sword
    Shadow Sneak
    King's Shield

I need better pokemon. They all share similar weaknesses o_o I need a pokemon to replace Hydreigon with and better moves for Ttar, and Gyarados (since it doesn't have all 4) item suggestions would be nice too.

Good, you can also use Dragon Dance somewhere in the moveset

    Garchomp- Jolly nature
    Stone Edge/Fire Fang
    Poison Jab
    EQ
    Dragon Claw

Crunch doesn't cover much, Stone Edge and Fire Fang covers a lot more.

    Gyarados- Adamant (Moxie)
    DD
    Stone Edge
    Waterfall
    Earthquake

3 moves on Gyarados? Ferrathorn will be dangerous without EQ.

    Hydreigon- Modest
    Dragon Pulse
    Dark Pulse
    Flamethrower
    Surf

I would run Surf for extra coverages

    Metagross- Adamant
    Meteor Mash
    EQ
    Hammer Arm
    Zen Headbutt

    Aegislash- Brave
    Sword Dance
    Sacred Sword
    Shadow Sneak
    King's Shield

You don't need Night Slash, it covers exactly the same type as Shadow Sneak and Sword Dance can let you sweep with Aegislash too.

Well you can use any unuse Pokemon to fly instead, you don't necessary need to use your used Pokemon to Fly.

Replace Mystical Fire or Flamthrower for Fire Blast, Delphox needs power to OHKO more Pokemon. If this was a Choice Scarf moveset, it would be fine, but if it isn't then you can replace either Shadow Ball or Grass Knot for Calm Mind

    Type: Fire/Flying
    Ability: Flame Body
    Brave Bird
    Flare Blitz
    Steel Wing/Sword Dance/Bulk Up
    U-Turn/Roost

Use Flare Blitz instead of Flame Charge for more than 2x of damages and it is already fast enough. Brave Bird is a lot stronger than Fly and it doesn't take 2 turns like what Fly does. You can use other Pokemon for Fly Ingame. This moveset is for Choice Band, but if you don't want to use Choice Band then use Bulk Up/Sword Dance instead of Steel Wing and Roost over U-Turn, if you use them in the correct timing, it will be effective.

    Aurora the Aurorus
    Type: Rock/Ice
    Ability: Refridgerate

    Charge Beam
    Freeze-Dry/ Ice Beam
    Dark Pulse/???

Even Freeze-Dry can Super Effective Water, I don't know does the Low 70 base power worth it, Ice Beam has 90 Base Power. Also Charge Beam already covers Water.

So, yeah, that's my plaaned team.
I would only rate the planned one, Changes are in Bold

    Hope this help
