One thing that I am happy about is that the levels of the gym leaders are significant high. I always think the gameplay is much more interesting when the gym leaders are tougher.

Same here, although the later gyms could have had more than 3 Pokemon.
And rematches aren't even confirmed yet....

My fave gym leader is Valerie (of course) i'm glad to see her representing fairies so well ahaha. With her, Gardevoir and myself representing the fairy royal family we are shaping up to be one unstoppable force

So there's a gym leader called Clemont so does that mean that they have a boss inspired from the great clement I hope so because that would be really cool (but I doubt it).

I suppose this is the place where I can outline my gym challenge guidelines? This seemed the most appropriate topic of those listed for it:

I saw some complaints about the gyms being too easy, so I thought I'd share my method of dealing with gyms to make them more challenging.

The basic rule is that you can only use Pokemon with a type weakness to the Gym Leader's specialty type. So in an Electric Gym, all of your Pokemon must be either Water- or Flying-types. In a Steel Gym you can use Fairy-, Rock-, or Ice-types, and in a Grass Gym only Rock-, Ground-, and Water-types are permitted.

Black Version was the first time I tried it. They made it easy by having you battle a Gym leader in Striaton with a type strength to your Starter.

The troublesome gym is Normal, since nothing is weak to Normal, so for that gym you just have to use any Pokemon you feel like except Fighting types. A Normal Gym is a good time to train for the next gym type, if you know what's ahead.

The dragon gym in Black Version was a bit insane with this rule because Dragon types are the only things weak against Dragon, and in Black Version there were very few obtainable dragons prior to Drayden's gym.

In Black 2, there was some improvement, with Altaria and Flygon being around.

The thing is, you want to avoid having a type advantage over the gym leader's Pokemon. I used Victini in the Castelia City gym, and either Victini's base stats or its Fire typing made the battle no fun...it was over before it began, so to speak. Thus I think another rule is that you must make sure the type weakness is not supplied by a type advantage with the other one that a dual-type Pokemon would have.

Thus, no Water-Ground Pokemon in an Electric gym. No Bug/Rock Pokemon in a Fire gym. No Rock/Psychic in a Fighting Gym.

Also, a third rule could be to not use the type of the Gym Leader as a dual type unless that type is not resistant to itself. You can use a Bug/Flying type in a Flying gym because it still has a Flying weakness, but not a Bug/Fire in a Fire Gym.

The most trouble I've had thus far is against the eighth gym leader in Black 2. I would surmise that the eighth gym leader of each region would cause some obstacle, but as the only other game I've tried this in was Black 1, and again I had to use Dragons against Drayden, seeing as that's the only type that fits the rule, I'm not certain if the eighth gym leader maxim is true of all types other than Dragon and Normal.

The one other stipulation I wish to make is that though you COULD use Ghost Pokemon in a Ghost gym, you would be better off using Psychic Pokemon only. The reason Dragons are necessary against a Dragon gym is that they are the only option. Should another type be created with a weakness to Dragon, that would be the type to use in all future Dragon gyms. But for Ghost gyms, you can use Psychic Pokemon, and if you're following the rules of this challenge, you'd feel much happier using Psychic Pokemon than Ghost types (even though X- and Y- have amazing Ghost types).

So, the rules in a Shelmet:

    1. Only bring Pokemon with a type weakness to the Gym Leader's chosen type into the Gym.

    2. Do not bring Pokemon with a dual-type for which their other type creates an advantage over the oppponent through having super-effective STAB moves against it.

    3. In a Normal Gym, use any Pokemon type except Fighting.

    4. No dual-type Pokemon with a type that is the same as the Gym Leader's specialty type except where said type does not resist attacks from itself, such as Fighting-, Ground-, and Flying.

If you're still not persuaded, there is a new item called Weakness Policy or something which gives boosts when a Super-Effective move is used on a Pokemon holding it. Until I have tested it out, I will not be sure whether this hold item is acceptable by the rules of this challenge, or if it causes too much of an advantage for my Pokemon. But as of right now, it's fair game.

Would anyone be able to post the levels of the Elite Four and Champion's teams? Serebii already has the gym leader rosters posted; was interested in how the Elites were set up. Thanks!

I'm just slightly pressed that she was given Sylveon. It's literally been promoted so heavily this past year that I'm kind of tired of seeing it. I would've preferred if Valerie had Aromatisse as her main Fairy-type, but alas. I guess she might have one in the sequels or whatever. I was hoping she could be re-battled in these games but that seems impossible.

I was kinda hoping for a male fairy type gym leader, since I think the new gen is supposed to be a bit more androgynous (since the x and y axis represent different ways of thinking) a male leader would have fit right in the middle

I have to admit, when I saw the leaked E4 designs, I laughed with youthful abandon at Wikstrom's. Easily the silliest thing this game has to offer, so far.

Looking forward to picking up my copy of X tomorrow!

Wikstrom looks like such a tool, but at the same time I think he's perfect that way. Just being all in armor and having an Aegislash, who wants to bet he would try to use Aegislash as a sword instead of a pokemon.

Well, Grant is my favorite as uh.... that's me. He also has some cool pokes.
    Winds, stay with me!

Have: Several Adamant Larvitar with 5 maxed IVs, any whatever order you would like. Currently out if D-Dance Larvitar, however will breed one for right offer.

    Adamant Speed Boost Torchic: 31/31/31/x/31/31

More Torchic and Larvitar than you can count with anywhere from 1-4 maxed IVs, all of the Torchic have Max Attack for sure. Most of both of these have adamant natures.

    PM me your offers.

I would have loved this for the rosters, since the regional dex is huge:

We haven't had a Dragon E4 since Drake actually, he and Lance were the only ones before Drasna... just glad Ghost, Psychic and Dark aren't E4 again

If you count the Champion, all Generations but IV have Dragon there in the League.

I'm already playing and it's no harder than BW league. I'm sure the E4 will be easy too.

Gyms would've been better if it went this way.

Some of those rosters seem a bit excessive imo. I actually prefer the current rosters since they seem pretty balanced. My sister already has X version and she told me that Viola and Grant were easy enough to beat and that the gap between the two Gyms allows for a lot of training, which I'm thankful for.

The really sad thing about the elite four is that while they can be rematched at any time their levels don't increase. Also I have a feeling they wont megaevolve their pokemon.:c

The Elite four probably will mega-evolve their pokemon to test how you deal with mega-evolutions. Plus their levels are already in the 60s
    Can beat Elite Four with:

My fav Gym Leader would have to be Ramos, because he is the Third Grass gym leader. I hated Gardenia and Erika. My favorite E4 member is Wikstrom (That's his name right?) he looks like an Awesome E4 steel specialist! He is the first Steel E4 right? (Besides Steven as Champion) I love his Knight Armor! Instead of Klefki he should have had Mawile... Klefki is to...Cute for an E4 Member's pokemon.
