    This is my first try for POTW. This is the set I used for competitive battling. It works best in Double Battles.

    LOUDSPEAKER
    Exploud
    Held Item: Silk Scarf/Normal Gem/Life Orb
    Ability: Scrappy
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
    Nature: Modest
    - Focus Blast
    - Ice Beam
    - Flamethrower
    - Boomburst

    Thanks to Boomburst, Exploud becomes very useful. With Scrappy,
    - Boomburst + Normal Gem + STAB can OHKO a 0 SpD Mega Gengar and 2HKO a 0 SpD Aegislash-Blade. Also effective on other OU and other types.
    -Focus Blast can OHKO a 0 SpD Aegislash-Blade.
    On the other hand, Ice Beam and Flamthrower are for coverage.
    -Ice Beam on Exploud have a chance in OHKO-ing an ordinary Garchomp.
    -Flamethrower on Exploud can OHKO a 4 SpD Mega Scizor.

    EVs Spread
    252 HP on Exploud can make it sure to last it longer in battle and survive from Focus Blast.
    252 SpA on Exploud make it hit hard.
    4 SpD on Exploud can make it survive from Focus Blast.

    Defensing Exploud
    In Double Battles, having a Greninja with Mat Block as its partner. It helps to protect Exploud from foe's attacks and to protect Greninja itself from Boomburst. It would be best to used Boomburst at first turn since Mat Block is a first-turn only move. Though, any partner is viable if it has Protect. Of course, you don't want your own Pokémon to be KO by your Exploud. Pokémon with Sounproof and Telepathy are good partners.

    Countering Exploud
    Pokémon with Sounproof is the best counter for Boomburst + Normal Gem + STAB.

    One of my favourite pokemon.
    It has great HP and attack and sp attack but not that good bulk and it is very slow. It's an awesome mixed attacker and it has access to scrappy which is all a normal pokemon can dream about.
    If there is a defense version of assault vest Exploud would be great with it. It also has and enormous movepool with all types. If only has a bit more bulk.

    The only reason to use this guy is because of Boomburst. Boomburst is hideously powerful, even with Exploud's average special attack.

    Exploud @ Choice Specs
    - Boomburst
    - Fire Blast / Overheat
    - Focus Blast
    - Surf / Ice Beam
    Ability: Scrappy
    EVs and Nature:
    4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)

    Boomburst is the main event. A 140 BP move with no real drawbacks... Even Pokemon that resist Normal won't appreciate switching into a Choice Specs STAB 140 BP attack. Boomburst should be the majority of what you should be using, the rest of Exploud's moves are simply coverage. Fire Blast, Overheat, and Focus Blast handle Steel types that try to switch into Boomburst, while Focus Blast and Surf handle Rock types. Fire Blast and Overheat serve the same purpose, just that Fire Blast doesn't force Exploud out the next turn if you happen to use Overheat. Focus Blast, bar it's shaky accuracy, is a powerful move and is needed to hit Rock types for supereffective damage, as Surf is quite weak and can't always do that job. Ice Beam can also be used because Ice is a fantastic offensive type, but to replace it with Surf is leaves Exploud forced to play around bulky Rock types with Focus Blast's accuracy. Shadow Ball should not be considered because Scrappy allows Exploud to hit every Ghost for neutral damage except for Aegislash, which Fire Blast takes care of anyway.

    Zen Headbutt eliminates fighting types. The Fangs are good for coverage and statusing the opponent. This Exploud set can hit hard on many opponents. You can probably replace one of those moves for Rest, since Exploud is quite bulky.

    Exploud is an example of how annoying mixed attackers can be. Normal Types already havelots of Move options and Exploud has the opportunity to use Physical and Special to great effect.

    Stats:
    -HP - Great - Base 104 means you can get those lovely 101+ HP Substitutes if you're so inclined.
    -Attack - Good - Base 91 and a large Physical Movepool is a great asset to Attack.
    -Defense - Mediocre - Exploud's main Weakness easily exploits its lowest defensive stat. Base 63 is a big target.
    -Sp.Atk - Good - Base 91 and a large Special Movepool, including its newest toy Boomburst, is a huge reason to consider Special.
    -Sp.Def - Below Average - Base 73 isn't as bad as Base 63, but it still hurts.
    -Speed - Dead Zone - Base 68 is right where you don't want to be: Too high to use in Trick Room and too low to not use in Trick Room. High HP helps alleviate some burden, but not much...

    Abilities:
    -Soundproof - Considering how annoying things like Roar and Perish Song are, it's not a bad Ability. It's just outclassed by...
    -Scrappy (Hidden, Available [Poké Transfer, Horde]) - Normal-Type and Fighting-Type Moves hit Ghost Types. This makes Boomburst a huge asset.

    Overall, Exploud is the embodiment of cranky, old people's most popular complaint: "Turn it down, ya punk kids! I'm tryin' to take a nap!" Exploud is hard to judge as Physical or Special until it cranks it up to 11 and blows out your eardrums. Straightforward in most aspects, but still hard to predict, Exploud carries a lot of potential. However, it needs to be carried when it comes to that bogged-down, yet movable Speed. Baton Passed Speed and/or defensive buffs really help. Pair Exploud with most things in Doubles/Triples and it's going to wreck face.

    I have good memories of Exploud. Sure its stats are lackluster, but the wide movepool, usable offenses and no glaring weaknesses made it a great pokemon for the R/S/E main game.

    Exploud would be a noteless pokemon were it not for the big buff it got this generation: Boomburst, the strongest special Normal move outside of Hyper Beam (and even then just barely). Combine that with Scrappy and and substitute bypass and Exploud becomes freakin’ scary as it can now hit a lot of pokemon that it couldn’t before. Outside of that, Exploud is very noticeable. Its offenses, while usable, aren’t impressive. Its massive HP is balanced out by poor defenses. Finally its odd 68 speed means its reliably outsped both in and out of Trick Room. A medicore pokemon with a cool move. Exploud in a nutshell.

    Run in and hit hard. Return for STAB. Earthquake for earthquake. Rock Slide for more coverage and Fighting move of choice to round it out. Hammer Arm for power, but with speed drop. Brick Break for less power, but has reliability. Circle Throw for less power still, but entry hazard abuse and phasing. Hits a lot of foes thanks to Scrappy.

    Other Options

    Boomburst
    -I have already detailed the merits of Boomburst. Go and read the summary (Hint: It’s an amazing move).

    Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Shadow Ball/Surf/Extrasensory
    -Exploud’s non-Boomburst special movepool.

    Crunch/Elemental Fangs
    -Other physical options. Crunch is somewhat void due to Scrappy and the Elemental Fangs are just too weak.

    Elemental Punches
    -Superior to the elemental fangs and worth consideration. Transfer only.

    Countering Exploud
    Attack it. Exploud’s offense is too varied to block completely (physical, special, or mixed); so you’re best bet is to put it down before it causes too much damage. Its high HP is balanced out by lackluster defenses, and Exploud is allergic to one of the more popular attacking types in the game. That being said, Exploud doesn’t have a lot of punching power; if you can figure out the tune and backup tracks Exploud is playing you can easily block out this pain in the ear.
    I was once routed by a Gengar who critted 4 times in a row on my team. Morale of the story; Crits happen and Sucker Punch is good Gengar repellent.

    Exploud has gained so much from so little.
    I've always had a soft spot for Exploud. This generation has brought the Loud Noise Pokemon into a spotlight. Exploud packs the ability Scrappy, an ability that any Normal and Fighting type Pokemon crave. Smogon has also sent Aegislash and Mega Mawile into the Uber tier, which allows Exploud's STAB move to roam more freely.
    STAB move brings me to Exploud's greatest improvement: Boomburst.
    Boomburst is a Normal type special attack with a whopping base 140 power and 100 accuracy. Thanks to Exploud's base 91 special attack stat, Exploud's Boomburst is the second strongest in the game (behind Chatot of all things). Boomburst also lacks any negative effects, making the move spammable with Choice Specs equipped. The best part about Boomburst is that it is a sound move. As of Gen six, sound moves bypass Substitutes, making many attackers' frustrations turn into laughable attempts.
    Exploud is not lacking any coverage moves to compliment Boomburst either. The living pipe organ of destruction has access to Focus Blast, Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, Overheat, Surf, Ice Beam, Extrasensory, and even Circle Throw.
    Of course, Exploud has notable faults. At base 68 speed, it's not running marathons, but it's too fast for Trick Room. Lack of a stat boosting move (beyond Work Up) means Exploud is relying on its own raw power. Without Boomburst, it's not much. Finally, while base 104 HP is fantastic, the base 63 defense and 73 special defense are not so awesome, meaning Exploud will not last a long time. One other problem is that, while awesome as a wallbreaker, Exploud cannot sweep very well. Chatot also has boomburst and boasts a higher (base 92) special attack and far superior speed for sweeping purposes.
    However, Boomburst can power through the metagame like a hot knife though wet toilet paper. An Assault Vest can give a little more staying power while Choice Specs will turn Exploud from a wallbreaker into a nuke. A Choice Scarf can catch some by surprise. Exploud is no longer a Pokemon that will be forgotten.

    Actually it's pretty easy. Pretty much every Exploud you will encounter will be special; Mixed and Physical Exploud are so rare that they're barely worth considering. It's sort of in the same boat as Nidoking, primarily utilizing special attacks because it's special movepool is so much better than its physical movepool. Exploud may have a lot of physical options but most of them pale in comparison to its special options. For instance, it may have the elemental punches, but it has vastly better special options in Flamethrower and Ice Beam (although it doesn't get Thunder or Thunderbolt but tbh it doesn't really need them).     Exploud's claim to fame is being able to 2HKO most Pokemon in the game with its special attacks, most notably its frightening STAB Boomburst. To put its power in perspective, an unboosted Modest Boomburst is about 24% stronger than a Quiet Aegislash's Shadow Ball (whose power was vastly overhyped). And that's not even factoring in Specs, which most Exploud carry to get the most out of its only average base 91 special attack. Only the most dedicated of special walls can tank its attacks, and some can still be 3HKO'd; for instance, things like Assault Vest Goodra, Specially Defensive Cresselia, and even specially defensive Giratina are 3HKO'd by Modest Specs Boomburst (hyperbolic example on that last one). Only things like Chansey or Blissey can truly claim to be able to switch in with impunity. Thanks to Scrappy, ghosts are not safe switch-ins, and even the bulkiest Rock or Steel types, such as Assault Vest Rhyperior, can be wiped out by the right coverage move. That said, due to its reliance on Choice Specs to compensate for its unspectacular base 91 special attack, it absolutely has to predict well. As an example, it may be inclined to spam Boomburst, but if something like Assault Vest Escavlier switches into said Boomburst, it'll tank those Boombursts all day and either force Exploud out or threaten to KO it. A Flamethrower/Fire Blast could ward it off, but that's not always easy when you're locked in. Herein lies the example:

    252+ SpA Choice Specs Exploud Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 94-111 (27.3 - 32.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

    252+ SpA Choice Specs Exploud Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 396-468 (115.1 - 136%) -- guaranteed OHKO

    252+ Atk Escavalier Megahorn vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Exploud: 322-381 (92 - 108.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO (guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock)

    Hence why you really need to think ahead when using Specs Exploud; its power cannot be denied, but you'll really lose momentum if you pick the wrong move... but then again, the same could be said for all Pokemon. It's not really exclusive to Exploud.

    Exploud has always been a rather unimpressive Pokemon. For the most part, it was just another Normal type with disappointing stats despite its amazing TM compatibility and movepool, condemned to the lower tiers. It's only stat that breaks 100 is its HP, a feat hindered by the fact that neither of its defenses reach even 75. Both of it's offensive stats lie at 91, meaning it can run mixed sets, although not to the same strength as the greater powerhouses of UU. Exploud's Speed is very disappointing at 68, an area where Choice Scarf can't remedy its slowness as much as it would like, and many things are capable of outspeeding it in Trick Room.

    Still, our two most recent Gens gave Exploud two great gifts in the form of its HA, Scrappy, and a wonderful move with extremely narrow distribution, Boomburst. As the proud user of a 140 BP move only available to 3 other Pokemon: Noivern, Chatot, and for some inexplicable reason, Swellow, (the heck, Game Freak?) Exploud can truly shine with a STAB move that makes Draco Meteor jealous. In addition, thanks to new sound mechanics, Boomburst also bypasses Substitutes.

    Abilities:
    Soundproof: A lackluster ability whose main selling point would be invulnerability to other Boombursts, Perish Song, Bug Buzz, and the occasional Hyper Voice.
    Scrappy: The wonderful thing that lets Exploud hit Ghosts with his almighty Boomburst rather than rely on the weaker Shadow Ball.

    The most common set you'll see, and for good reason. Boomburst tears through many other Pokemon, especially with the boost from Choice Specs. The rest of his moveslots serve as coverage; a Fire type move to take on Steel types, FB or Surf to take care of Rock types, and Ice Beam to hit dual type Dragons.

    - Hammer Arm/Brick Break/Earthquake
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Ice Punch/Avalanche
    Item: Choice Band
    Ability: Scrappy

    While a lot less powerful due to lack of Boomburst, Exploud may run a decent physical set, having the same wide coverage pool that many Normal types are gifted with. Ice Punch may be replaced with Avalanche, if you're not looking for more power at the expense of priority.

    - Circle Throw
    - Fire Blast/Overheat
    - Endeavor/Blizzard/Avalanche/Work Up
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Scrappy
    Nature and EVs: Quiet(+SpAtk, -Spd); 4 HP/252 Def/252 SpDef

    Exploud may not be the tankiest Pokemon, but a base HP over 100 still has to be considered. Circle Throw turns him into a decent phazer, and the last moveslot is filler; Endeavor can be used with smart prediction, Work Up may allow for set ups, or you could just settle for another coverage move.

    Double and Triple Battle Options

    Exploud thrives in Doubles/Triples, where his powerful Boomburst will wreck the opposition. On the physical side, he can use Earthquake and Rock Slide.

    Partners

    Steel/Rock types that resist Boomburst are best suited for being partners. If you really wish to, though, you may use Soundproof Exploud and a Ghost type for immunity.

    Other Options

    Exploud, as aforementioned, is a typical Normal type - it's got a wide movepool granted through tutors and TMs. However, a lot of this is rendered ineffective due to the staggering power of Boomburst, which with STAB has more than twice the BP of most coverage moves.

    Uproar, while a weaker Boomburst that also locks you into it, prevents enemies from sleeping, which may be nice for preventing Rest.
    Outrage can be used for Dragon type coverage on physical sets, although Ice Punch does more damage to dual type Dragons. (Basically, every one but Druddigon)
    Solarbeam may be used as a surprise move on a Sun team.
    Counter is a somewhat decent tool for Exploud to have, considering its high HP and low defenses.
    Choice Scarf may surprise some people, but Exploud really misses the power from the Specs/Band.

    Counters

    While being a Normal type gives it a wide movepool, it also curses Exploud with the weakness to the common Fighting types. Exploud does not have particularly high Speed or defenses, so it can be shot down easily with supereffective moves from glass cannons. In regards to taking a hit, Exploud's coverage moves allow it to take on almost everything that resists Boomburst, so not many are capable of tanking it. Barely anything that doesn't resist Normal can take more than two CS-boosted Boombursts, so the best option would be switch in something that resists once Exploud is locked into its move.

    Exploud, I love this guy! Boomburst spam destroys so many Pokemon and if you can outspeed your opponent then you can still ohko-2ko most of the OU and RU tier. Of course steel and rock types are an issue but only if you're locked into boomburst. Otherwise you get coverage moves to deal with them.

    The only set you should run:

    Now people, as tempting as it is....
    DON'T RUN PHYSICAL EXPLOUD

    Kangaskhan outclasses Physical Exploud in ever single aspect you can think of. It hits harder, has all the same coverage moves through the likes of the Elemental Punches,Earthquake,Outrage.etc as well as the same utilities like Circle Throw while also getting TWO forms of Priority. It gets access to Scrappy as well and makes better use of it, and most of all it has straight up better stats in every aspect Kangaskhan is concerned. Seriously look.

    Exploud: 104/91/63/91/73/68

    Kangaskhan: 105/95/80/40/80/90

    Point is, STICK TO SPECIAL OR MIXED. Scrappy STAB Boomburst is just too good and too fun to pass up on, and his special movepool is pretty solid too. I mean just look:

    Boomburst (With Scrappy)
    Shadow Ball
    Focus Blast
    Flamethrower
    Fire Blast
    Overheat
    Ice Beam
    Surf

    And with Base 91 in both offensives he could run mixed to get coverage from hammer Arm/Earthquake/Rock Slide as well as use Circle Throw for utility. He's so awesome in those aspects that there's no reason to try to force him into the role of an exclusive physical attacker when you have that sweet Boomburst going on for you.

    But Kangaskhan is ubers while Exploud is RU This happens almost anytime we get a lower tired pokemon. The objective of this thing IF you had to use this HOW would you. This thing most of the time won't be running into a Kangaskhan or even be getting the option to run alongside it. So it is a viable set to run physical exploud.

    Mega Kangaskhan is in Ubers. Regular Kangaskhan is in NU, so even by Smogon rules, there is nothing keeping you from using Kangaskhan anywhere you can use Exploud. Even ignoring the competition from Kangaskhan as a physical attacker, physical Exploud is still bad because Boomburst is literally the only reason Exploud is a good choice anywhere, so running a set without Boomburst is far too great of an opportunity cost.

    This set is more of a fun one to use, and can be rather effective in the right circumstances. Basically, the moves Roar and Circle Throw don't lose priority when sleep talk is used, allowing Exploud to effectively shuffle the opponents team for two turns, if it can outspeed. Now while Exploud isn't the fastest thing alive (it has a pretty poor base 68 speed), it can outrun a good amount of competition in RU, and the opponent definitely doesn't want to switch in anything quick enough to outspeed since it will be immediately swapped out. Red Card can be used in two effective ways; if you know you are slower, then use rest after the opponent attacks to set up rest talk shuffling, or if you think you are faster, use circle throw/roar to immediately switch out the opponents pokemon after red card takes affect. Obviously this set shouldn't be used unless enough entry hazards are set up against the opponent (and the obvious flaw is if rest talk keeps choosing rest), but remember this is more of a fun set to use if you really are that crazy.

    Hence why you really need to think ahead when using Specs Exploud; its power cannot be denied, but you'll really lose momentum if you pick the wrong move... but then again, the same could be said for all Pokemon. It's not really exclusive to Exploud.

    Actually that shows you do not have to think ahead when using Specs Exploud. Your damage calc shows Specs Boomburst 3HKOing on a resisted hit an Assault Vest mon which effectively has 70 / 105 / 166 base defenses (with rocks... it switches in once but is 2HKOed on any further switch ins). Specs Exploud hits HARD and with Scrappy it can basically exterminate everything with just Boomburst. It mostly uses its other moves (like Fire Blast) for 1 on 1 situations like Exploud vs Escavalier etc.

    Just for fun, here's a bunch of damage calcs showing the nuclear might of Specsloud using just its STAB Boomburst against the most specially defensive threats in RU.
