It looks nothing like one (the name is a Japanese onomatopoeia for an electrical "sparkling" noise and likely just coincidentally sounds like the animal). If any pokémon can be called a pika pokémon, it'd be nidoran, the female version resembling a rabbit with ears like a mouse, which is pretty much how a pika looks.

A kinkajou might make for an interesting Pokemon.

It is? That changes everything for me! But I'd love to see a fire bellied toad, and an orca that isn't a legendary. Also would love to see a stellar sea eagle and a different type of culture.

Actually, I thought about retooling swablu as a fairy bluebird. Flying/ fairy. Don't know what the heck altaria's supposed to be, though.

There's no snow leopard. I think it would be a cool Ice type. Pun unintended. A Pokemon based on the red fox would be nice as well.

What kind of fox would you say vulpix resembles instead?

I meant the English red fox. Vulpix is a kitsune which is completely different.

God forbid there be a Pokemon that looks like a cockroach.

    Pheromosa is close enough.

We haven't had a wombat yet. It could be the early obtainable normal type (like Rattata, Bidoof, and Patrat) if they ever base a region on Australia.

If we're going to Australia, a definitive platypus would be nice.

We need a llama Pokemon, and no, I don't count Arceus, which is more similar to a qilin.

Is there a naked mole rat Pokémon yet?

Not as different as you might think, mythological kitsunes after all were based on the idea of Japanese foxes (which are the same species as the red fox you speak of, red foxes being found over much of the world) that lived a long time developing magical powers, changing colors and growing extra tails.

We don't have a sea urchin. Mareanie and Toxapex are pretty close but they really are crown-o-thorns starfish. We also don't have a gila monster.

If they do regional variants of Hoenn Pokemon, I would love a form for Poochyena and Mightyena based on spotted hyenas.

I don't know if it's already mentioned, but I like the idea of an albatross Pokémon. A split evolution for Wingull maybe?

Here are some animals i would also like to see as Pokémon:

    llama/alpaca
    dolphin/beluga
black swan (it could be a regional variant of Ducklett and Swanna)
    goose
    cassowary
ostrich/greater rhea/emu (no, I don't see Doduo and Dodrio as ostriches)
    blackbird
    flamingo
    peacock
    hornbill
    moose
    yak
    anemonefish
    platypus (Psyduck not counted)
    tarsier

We also don't have a sea sponge. It could learn all the life draining moves to reflect on how sponges absorb water.

Here's a list of extinct species I'd like to see as Pokémon (not necessarily all as fossils, though)

    Dimetrodon
    Carnotaurus
    Megatherium
    Velociraptor
    Styracosaurus
    Gastornis
    Doedicurus
    Cave Lion
    Dunkleosteus
    Quagga
    Thylacine
    Icthyostega
    Odobenocetops
    Andrewsarchus
    Synthetoceras
    Short-Faced Bear

If you don't know what some of these are... Wikipedia is your friend!

Not yet. They could be creative with that, given how weird the naked role rat is(it's the only eusocial mammal for instance). I imagine it's ability would be "skin"-related like Shed Skin or Limber

It would work as a Rock type with Water Absorb
