I'm really glad Moon is a Poison-type lover. Some times are have very little representation in the Dex holder line up.

Someone should do a count on how many Pokemon of each type is owned by the Dex holders.

A June release means it'll have seven chapters, good.

Volumes are usually announced a month or two before they come out. If the speculation that volume 53 has two more chapters left, we'll probably get an announcement next month for a July release.

Will it really have 7 chapters? I'm not sure since it says it's about 190 pages. This doesn't really look like a good spot to end the volume though... Maybe next chapter will be the end of the festival and it'll be a better point.

Edit: Well... nevermind. I didn't count well I think. Also the first chapter was shorter so it makes sense for it to be 7

So Moon the healer is a fan of Poison types? That's such a funny twist. I can just picture her going into town with all her poison types and they poison everything and thus she has to get the medicines for them. Moon continues to impress me.

Sun and Litten's battle looks cool as well. I wonder if Sun and Moon will actually battle each other in this too. Money boy vs poison girl.

Kinda wanted Guzma to win so he could lose to Moon but now I'm thinking Gladion may win this round but hopefully not because I think a final match between Sun and Moon would be amazing (and funny). Also loving how Moon is a fan of poison types lol wasn't expecting that but I love a good surprise. I was hoping she'd use Rowlet but she hasn't officially made it hers yet so maybe she will after she wins the tournament (hopefully).

So, Ms. Moon is a fan of Poison-type Pokemon? Mearenie is cute, I never thought much of Alolan Grimer but it's an odd choice, nothing I would've expected her to have so I'm kewl with it. I guess some irony can be found in the fact Moon who is a pharmacist has an affinity for Poison-types. Poison-types don't get a ton of representation, they're usually seen and used across the board in most Pokemon media as creatures to be weaponized (along with Dark-types) as villain Pokemon. Maybe she uses some of their poisons as a form of healing as well? Sort of like how some snakes can be used for their antivenom. It's definitely a cute little quirk to add to her character, Kusaka didn't have to but he did and it doesn't feel forced but cute and charming. Grubbin was another odd choice as well. The Poison thing could lead to some interactions with Team Skull's big sister, Plumeria, she Alola's token Poison specialist and gifts the player the Poison Z-Crystal in-game as a token of truce before they and Lillie run off to Ultra Space in pursuit of Guzma and Lusamine, so maaaayybbbee? Woudn't be much of a long shot, imo, with how Moon seems to already be interacting well enough with the Aether's Foundation siblings so far.

As for Guz, he's definitely being installed as more human so far which is a good thing thankfully. He does have somewhat implied abuse in-game so seeing him act some sympathetic and trainer-like is a nice beginning to his character. He was never really the woobie the fandom tried to paint him as, he was pretty much a jerk most of the time in-game and though his grunts were bumbling he was more or less just a crappy and jerky human. If he does have a sympathetic backstory here in Pokespe establishing him early on as less one-dimensional is a step in the right direction for sure. As for Sunny-boy, I'm still enjoying his team and hunger for money on the other side of the coin I can't say I take a ton of interest in him. He's cute, he's got personality, he's my child but I'm just not super invested in him. But no worries, I'm sure he's due for his breaking point at some point knowing how this manga goes about things. Ruby's vanity, Platinum's snobbiness, Yellow's passivity, were just prior examples of initial behaviors being deconstructed. I don't expect him to continue on like with just his hunger for money, but I'll enjoy it while it last surely.

Kind of nice to have a boy lead with a more, simpler goal I guess.

If Moon's a Poison type lover maybe she will end up with Nihilego. Assuming Sun or Moon get to catch Ultra Beasts

I kinda don't want Sunny-boy to lose his love of money. I hope they stretch it out as far as possible. Like it's time to save the world and he extends his hand expecting to be paid for his involvement. I'm sure that won't happen and if it did they'll just resolve it like they did with Ruby or something but it's something I'd like for sure. Maybe even the bad guys pay Sunny-boy to stay out of their business and he does until Moon scolds him or something.

I think no matter who wins in later, he will be involved in the island challenge. He may ask for compensation.

But I would like to know why he was anxious to make money. I think this will be explained later.

Well that's actually an excellent idea, I could very well see Moon helping Lillie get meditated and helping Lusamine get medicated with Nihilego's natural neurotoxins and Poison-typing being a huge part of who it is. Maybe she gets it with a Beast Ball and it doesn't do anything unhealthy to her due to her generally kindness and inclination toward Poison-types.

    Pokespe site updated.

Nothing important from a glance, though I just noticed B2W2's next chapter is coming on May 9th instead of the 2nd.

    Just picked up the magazines:

Chapter begins with Type: Null knocking out Komala, and Moon finds Type: Null 'synthetic' since all its body parts are incoherent. Sun is confident that he will sell the Charm for high price, but Guzma teases that he is way too into his head. Golisopod hurls Sun onto stage to commence the match, and Grunt A got upset at the Announcer because he called Guzma just Guzma while he called Sun 'Hakobiya-San' (this is a play on the identical phonetics of -san, the suffix of respect, and Sun. The Announcer was intending it as 'Sun the Courier', but it could also be interpreted as 'Mr. Courier' and Grunt A isn't happy that Guzma didn't get the 'Mr.' part). The Masked Royal approaches Hala for a conversation, and we learn that Kukui and Molayne have both taken on the Island Challenge in the past.

Masquerain wets the stage with Water Sport and defeats En with Bubble. Dollar is sent out, and things seem bleak for Sun since its hits are completely missing. However, it is actually splashing up the water on the stage from Water Sport, which moistens the air and causes Masquerain to fall from its flight (see its Sun/Moon Dex entry to learn why). Dollar finishes it off as it falls. Golisopod is sent out and hits Dollar with a First Impression. Sun takes a hit for Dollar, getting his left wrist fractured, but Hala refuses Olivia's request to stop the match simply because she doesn't want Guzma to get the Charm. He explains that they do need someone genuinely strong as their winner. Golisopod pins Dollar on the floor with its claws on its forehead coin, and Sun thinks the deal is sealed. He mentions how Golisopod used to be a Wimpod, which scavenges on rotten food. Being a Golisopod, it still does so and its claws are full of dirt from scavenging. The fact that these dirty claws are now on Dollar's prized forehead coin will surely irritate Dollar, who hails from royalty and has great pride. Sun claims not even himself dares to dirty Dollar's forehead coin. At that, Dollar goes berserk, backthrows Golisopod, claws it furiously, and faints it with Pay Day.

Moon apparently knew that Sun would win so she goes prepare a cast for his broken wrist for the next match. Olivia tries to stop Guzma from leaving after he breaks his own forehead on the stage, but Guzma stops her short by calling her 'auntie'. He mentions that he will only listen to 'that person' (?Lusamine). Moon is revealed to have caught a Grubbin after she sits in for Lillie, and it helps create the cast. However, Moon actually has two other Pokemon up her sleeve, being an Alolan Grimer and Mareanie. Fighting against Gladion, she wishes to know about the 'split in the sky', but Gladion only agrees to share his knowledge if he is beat. He wants to know if Moon is an expert in poison types, and Moon explains her need to 'know poison in order to treat poison' since she is a pharmacist. The truth is, she just finds poison type Pokemon adorable, especially the marvellous colors of Alolan Grimer. This stuns Gladion, and Sun realizes that Moon is venom lady (which again is the same as 'single lady' phonetically)...

    ==============================

Moon's character is shaping up to be quite interesting, and like many, I'm curious to know when her Alolan Grimer and Mareanie were caught. Perhaps before she met Sun after she arrived in Alola? Would be quite a feat if she caught these two in addition to Grubbin just after Lillie gave her the challenger post. As for Dollar, it has to be crazy strong to survive a STAB supper effective First Impression from a Golisopod.

P.S. in the official site update, in the 'This Month's Chapters' section, Litten fainted Rockruff with Scratch while it did so with Tackle in the magazine. I guess the writers are planning to retcon this in volume form since Litten can't learn Tackle. The PKSP encyclopedia will be released this summer, and these are the results of the fan-poll favourites at the Fan meeting
    - Tokyo am: 1. Gold, 2. Ruby, 3. Sapphire / 1. Mimi, 2. Mewtwo, 3. Pika
    - Tokyo pm: 1. Gold, 2/3. Red and Yellow / 1. Pika, 2. Mimi, 3. Mewtwo
    - Osaka am: 1. Ruby, 2. Red, 3. Gold / 1. Pika, 2/3. Explotaro, Poli
    - Osaka pm: 1. Yellow, 2. Red, 3. Gold / 1. Mimi, 2. Pika, 3. Mewtwo
    - Overall: 1. Gold, 2. Ruby, 3. Red / 1. Mimi, 2. Pika, 3. Mewtwo

Well at least they give a reason for Dollar's sudden huge power enough to defeat Golisopod. But as I suspected Golisopod did use First Impression, at that should have been enough to KO him.

Guzma should be refering to Lusamine there. I think it's a good foreshadowing, in the game he only foreshadowed this when you defeat him in Po Town.

The Poison Pokémon gives Moon more personality, but she already has 4 Pokémon and we've only seen her get Rowlet. Well, Sun only has 2, so I guess the "getting Pokémon" will be more focused on his part. I tried thinking about which Pokémon would they have but I wasn't sure, because I certaintly didn't expect Moon to have Alolan Grimer and Mareanie. Now the two of them have an Alolan form each at least.

They count people's favorite characters in the fans meeting.

And Kusaka seems to say that he may add some high popularity characters' appearance.

Oh man, those in the top spots are really predictable, they're practically the same as the results of the poll held six years ago (only rearranged). I wonder if the top 5-10 characters are still the same as before, though with 21 Dex Holders we should expect them to fill the top 20 ranks :3

If there is a new vote I think we can at least confirm that the top 15 all will be the Pokedex holders.

Why just 15? I think all 21 of them are popular enough to beat non-Dex Holder characters (even Giovanni).

Maybe they can include another popularity poll for PokeSPedia :3

I agree. I really hope Moon is the main character for this chapter, especially since she has so much going for her narrative wise so early on. I mean, she's interacted with, or has been acknowledged by, almost every major character introduced up to this point, especially notable since that includes the other three members of the main game quartet, and is involved in the one event that essentially makes her special.

My personal bet is that Sun and Moon will battle each other in the finals and end up in a draw, so they get to travel Alola together (we only have one magazine sooo). Maybe Hau can tag along since he's starting to get acquainted with them. As for Lillie, game-wise, probably later in the story.

I really hope so because I don't want Hau and Lillie end up being like Wally,Cheren and Bianca in term of importance.

Don't think we really need a Sun vs. Moon battle. We pretty much have a good grip of their personalities and teams by now, and it is worth remembering that PokeSpe is running on a pretty limited pagecount as is. I'm hoping Moon gets the amulet. Her curiosity aside, she has no real reason to stay in Alola after the tournament, while Sun's big thing is that he needs a buttload of cash that the island challenge could interfere with.

Also, Lillie and Gladion are fine. As long as Lusamine's the main bad guy, it's impossible to diminish their importance to the plot.

    Now, Hau on the otherhand...
    Where'd I put my mallet?
