At least we know that Lack-two arrest Whi-two not because of her as a criminal.

And Lack-two originally called Whi-two to "Whi-two chan", now called her "Whi-two kun".

When Whi-two said that she wanted to help Kyurem with him, he seemed to be thinking about whether she saying it was true.

The Web has been changed between 6/23 and 7/14... So, let us wait for 6/23.

So it has been revealed that he only really cares about the job and not Whi-two personally, which she doesn't seem to take well. Wonder what will trigger his inevitable change of heart.
To right the countless wrongs of our day, we shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise. What a wonderful world such would be...

Oh thank God. The first few XY volumes had a mix of old art plus new art. I'm glad this is entirely new.

I would like to thank not only God but Jesus that the cover art isn't recycled from an old promo. I was worried when Yamamoto tweeted about not having drawn the cover for volume 53 yet and I misinterpreted it to mean the SM mini volume... since it was also mentioned in the same tweet.

That said, Sun's really light-skinned in this cover, and I don't think it's because of the lighting or anything....

I thought this chapter was surprisingly short, no wonder if it only was the first half. Well, I suppose I can wait for the second half later this month then. I also wonder when W2 will get more Pokemon, she seems to be a strong trainer but she only has Foongus. Though, she did obtain the Zorua recently, but it doesn't really count since it isn't with her now. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oh sweet! Thanks for posting it!

It's only the first cover but I was kinda expecting Guzma to appear since he had some moments in this arc, maybe the Skull Grunts at least. It's surprising that Gladion is there of all people.

Also, poor Dollar. Next time buddy

Seems like a lot of progress has been made, but yay! Moon's traveling with Sun! That's the only thing I needed to know.

At this rate, Dollar should evolve by the time we hit Ula'ula. It's so strong it amazes me that its bond with Sun hasn't reached that level yet...

What are Gladion and Guzma doing?
Iris does NOT have a deep tan:She is black and should be heralded and recognized a black icon in Pokémon and Japanese media in general.

Guzma and Gladion are in the sanctuary of Tapu Koko in Melemele. Looks like Guzma was waiting for him. He asks Gladion to join them as their enforcer. He tries to convince him but Gladion accepts quickly. Guzma is surprised.

But then Gladions asks "I just have one question. Earlier after the battle you said "The only one who can give me orders is that person". Is there a boss who is superior to you?"
And Guzma says "... Oh, did I really say that? I don't remember" and then suggests that they go to their hideout

I was expecting Gladion to be the one who would join them but it's Guzma the one who asked. Guzma seems to know about him (I mean, that's normal considering he does have a superior and who she is)

Dollar should also evolve at night specifically

So they skipped Ilima? Or will that be volume content?

But how could they include it in the volume? The Melemele arc is not episodic, there's not really much of a space to include a different chapter in between. I guess he'll appear later or something

It just seems odd that they went straight to Akala skipping Ilima and Hala's battles. Maybe the order will be different here. Or they can always insert a couple of chapters in the volumes. I guess we will see eventually.

Well Kusaka IS adapting the material in his own way. If he skips something important I'm sure he'll include it later somewhere. Looks like he's trying to focus more on the main aspects of the story. That's why Sun's goal is more specific, UBs are appearing since the beginning (the wormholes at least) and he's giving more importance to Gladion and Team Skull.

What I hope is that he doesn't forget about Lillie because up to this point there hasn't been much with her and she doesn't seem to be traveling with them right now either. She and Cosmog are vital parts of the story, I hope she appears next chapter again, they should become closer to Sun and Moon.

Ilima will certainly appear in the serial progress. He does not like some supplementary roles (I'm talking about Battle Chatelaine) will only appear in the formal volume.

Moon also became a Pokedex holder and holds Rotom Pokedex (a new Pokedex, not Sun's).

And Sun comes from Kanto. Monn is still unknown from where, but also mentioned again she comes from other region.

Apologies for my absence but work has been a bit busy.

A brief summary of the recent materials:

    B2W2:
A half chapter which is very conversation filled without much progress. We basically see Lack-two and Whi-two confront each other, and Whi-two learning that all the kindness Lack-two showed her was purely for work. Lack-two wants Whi-two's help in arresting the Sages and nullifying the powers of the Colress Machine. However, he plans to find a way to free Kyurem first. Whi-two agrees to help him free Kyurem first, and then take him to where the microchip is. Lack-two doesn't know if Colress thinks they can't reach Kyurem or that they are strong enough to fend them off, but they meet little resistance until Grunts eventually start to show up. Foongy puts some to sleep, and Lack-two gets on board Genesect to deal with the rest...

    ==============================

    S/M
    July issue:
The battle between Moon and Gladion ensues, and Moon is apparently not aware that Alolan Grimer gained the Dark type, thus feeling baffled that Gladion didn't fire a Psybeam from the close range. Gladion somehow knows what Moon was thinking and decides it's only fair he does some explanation. Sun teases Moon fo not knowing about this. Moon actually noted a difference between Sun's Meowth and the usual ones she sees but didn't raise the question. She makes a claim that it is necessary to 'experiment' and 'fulfill' to order to gain knowledge (sort of in a Platinum style). Grimer suffocates Porygon, but Gladion explains that Porygon doesn't breathe and fries Grimer with Discharge. Mareanie goes up next and tries to confuse Porygon with its footwork, but Gladion states that artificial Pokemon don't have that issue. He is surprsed however when Psybeam missed, andi turns out that Porygon has been poisoned. Still, it beats Mareanie with a Zap Cannon, shocking Moon since it is a low accuracy move. Gladion states that the 'burden' on one's shoulder will determine the winner. Moon is clearly shocked by such an unscientific thing, and is escorted off the stage.

Sun goes up against Gladion next but Dollar is quickly knocked out by Type: Null. En's fire attacks don't work either, and Sun schemes to get Litten's fur into Type: Null's helmet to create a big fire. However, Gladion sees through this and gets Type: Null to shake out the fur. Gladion feels disappointed that Sun is just all goof with no true burdens on him, but Sun retorts that being serious is not the only manifestation of shouldering a burden. At that, the rock used to stabilize Sun's broken wrist summons an energy from the cleft in the sky, and En unleashes what is essentially the fire type Z move, fainting Type: Null. Sun passes out, and Gladion muses on the preparation he must make for facing the Ultra Beasts one day. Later, Sun awakes, and finds himself sailing off on a boat with a talking Rotom Dex...

    August issue:
On the boat, before Sun could figure out what is going on, he sees Moon aiming her arrow at something afar. It turns out that Rowlet was trying to follow them from the pier, but get ambushed by the Team Skull Grunts. Moon sends it a Salac Berry to raise its speed, and Rowlet successfully catches up. Moon agrees to add Rowlet to her team, and Kukui explains what happened after Sun passed out. Hala makes contact with them via intercom, and everyone learns how Tapu Koko left the Shining Stone after battling Sun. Sun seems to be an honest person since he protests that he was planning to return the item to Tapu Koko, and he will never sell items people unknowingly left behind. Hala reveals that he has taken the stone for now and is manufacturing it into something else. He then informs Sun of the Tapu's rage, and how it is necessary for the winner of the tournament to pacify them in an Island Challenge. Sun feels cheated as it sounds more like a punishment than prize, but Hala tactfully words it that he is hiring Sun to do deliveries to the Tapus, since a 'Mirage Berry' is necessary to calm them, and he shall give a reward to Sun for his work. Sun readily agrees to the job, and it turns out that Kukui already has the order forms written, one to each Tapu. Sun only then pays heed to Rotom, and learns that it has assimilated into the Dex. However, it turns out that it assimilated into an additional Dex Kukui has, which he gave to Moon, and Sun's dirty Dex is left unused (I guess no set of three this time?).

At Tapu Koko's Ruin, Gladion finds Guzma waiting for him. Guzma mentions how Gladion didn't send out his second Pokemon in the fight against Sun and let the boy win, but Gladion doesn't want to talk about it and wants to know what Guzma wants. Turns out Guzma desires to recruit Gladion, but plays dumb when Gladion asks about the 'only person he answers to'. Meanwhile, Sun and Moon are waiting on Akala Island's pier while Kukui goes off to his wife's lab. They are approached by Lana, Mallow and Kiawe, but Sun and Moon have no idea what captains are. We learn that Sun actually hails from Kanto, and after likening them to Gymleaders, Kiawe challenges Sun, wanting to see how the chosen person by the Kahunas battles. Sun sends out Dollar to fight Kiawe's Marowak, and when Lana sees how Moon is amused by its regional forme, she realizes Moon is not from Alola either, which sort of upsets Kiawe since the duo are both foreigners. Sun tells Dollar they can't lose since money is at stake, and Mallow is shocked that Sun is touring the islands as a job. Sun thinks as long as one treats a job sincerely, there is no such thing as wrong or right. Kiawe is suddenly reminded of something by Sun's words, and as Dollar smacks Marowak, we see that Kiawe is contacting the owner of the mart where he is doing part-time job. It turns out that he has forgotten to call in for leave and the owner plans to lay him off. Luckily, with some persuasion, he manages to keep his job. Mallow and Lana explain how Kiawe is saving money to learn fire dancing, and upon hearing that, Sun thinks he shall be very good friends with Kiawe since they both aim to save money. Kiawe thanks Sun for alerting him and helping him keep his job, and essentially lets him pass his test. Lana, however, isn't going easy on Sun, and wants him to meet her at the Brooklet Hill...

    ==============================

Not much to comment on B2W2 since it's logical progression. Here's hoping the second half has more exciting content.

For S/M, I'm actually getting the feeling that the 'Island Challenge' may not be the same in the games where you have to challenge to 7 captains and their trials. It's more like a 'touring' of the islands where people justify your strength by whatever means. Possibly, Sun already 'conquered' Melemele Island by emerging victorious in the Tournament. Perhaps he just has to do 'something', whatever it is, on each island to gain recognition. This would explain why the Kahunas send him off so soon without going through Ilima's trial or even Hala's challenge as in the games. Of course, the writers may just want to avoid giving too weak Pokemon and Ilima and Hala for Sun to defeat and send him off to the other islands first. What's worth noting is Sun doesn't actually have the Z-Ring now and it's with Hala, and Kiawe isn't really rewarding him with the fire crystal after 'recognizing' him. Let's see how PKSP handle the Island Challenge idea (which in Japanese simply translates to 'Island Touring'). Oh, and I wonder what that Mirage Berry is.

A Berry, huh? I don't remember any Berries being associated with the Tapu in the games, so I'm assuming this is an original plotline.

SM didn't introduce any new Berries, so unless this is a made-up one, it would probably be an already-existing one.

Maybe an Enigma Berry? Or maybe the E-Reader ones from Gen III? I can't for the life of me remember any Pokemon media ever featuring one of those.
