I would suggest sticking with it. The art and style/feel of early One Piece can turn some people off. ( Although i like that early chibi style Eiichiro Oda used. His art evolves throughout the story like almost all mangakas do. I do actually like the current style better. The art matures as the characters do).

Anyway, don't give up on One Piece after only the first 3 volumes! IMO you are really missing out on some epic storytelling/characters/action if you don't read One Piece all the way through.

I guess I'll give another go sometime in the future, but for now, I'll stick with shojo manga.

You can find manga at book stores like Barnes & Nobles and Borders, or your local library might carry some, and of course you can order online from many different places.
Look around for old comic stores they sometimes have manga at a cheaper price
