Default Rain Dance Team

Okay I already made a sandstorm team and I was like why not make a Rain Dance team. Anyway this is the team I'm going to make just tell me what I can improve on or anything changing to be done.

First Look

Details

Zapdos @ Damp Rock
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Roost
- Rain Dance
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Yea my Zapdos is pretty much to get my rain dance team started. HP grass is just for coverage. I was going to change for Heat Wave but Thunder is pretty much covers it. I was thinking of going for Electrode as my lead since I can team up with Ludicolo and Kabutops but with Zapdos I can do more damaged with Thunder + I can use roost to heal if necessary but idk.

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/240 SpAtk/16 Spd
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SpDef)
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor

Kingdra is my deadly Physical Sweeper especially in Rain. It can pretty much KO any pokemon with Waterfall as my main attack. Draco Meteor is just there to 1 hit KO bulky pokemon.

Lanturn @ Damp Rock
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP/216 SpAtk/252 SPDef
Calm nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

Lanturn is just there to back up the rain dance team incase if they use electric pokemon and such. With his ability he can absorb electric attack+it can switch in and revenged kill any electric pokemon. Plus in Rain I can use Thunder full power with his STAB attack.

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 224 HP/252 Atk/32 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

Kabutops by far a must have in a Rain Dance team in my opinion. With Sword Dance + Swift Swim ability + Waterfall it can out speed any pokemon and KO pretty much any pokemon. Is a great Physical sweeper.

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 32 HP/252 Atk/4 Def/220 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Seed Bomb

This set is pretty much similar to Kabutops. Ludicolo is just there to use of his swim swift ability and to support my team.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 136 HP/216 Spd/275 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Rapid Spin

Starmie is there to get rid of stealth rock and such.

You can add some steel types like Bronzong who hate the sun and find shelter in the water. Ludicolo is a very good special sweeper.

Ludicolo @ Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
204 HP / 104 Def / 76 SpA / 124 SpD

~ Grass Knot
~ Ice Beam
~ Leech Seed
~ Substitute

Grass Knot for STAB, SubSeed + Rain Dish for super Stall.
EVs ensure a one hit KO on Minium HP Salamence and survives a choice Specs Draco Meteor

Ok Zapdos and Kingdra are standard so they are good. I like Lanturn but I would opt. for a ResTalk set. Once again Kabutops is Standard. But now it get's intresting with Ludicolo and Starmie. 1st off why would you have Ludicolo with all physical moves that (no offensive) is a fail. 2nd if he does what Kabutops does why have him? Anyways here is my Ludicolo set it is a Special Sweeper set.

Ludicolo@Life Orb
Nature: Modest
Ev's 120 Hp/196Spe/194SpA
Moves
Grass Knot
Rain Dance
Surf
Ice Beam

This set lets you out run Scarfgonin the rain and OHKO it with Ice Beam. It 2HKO's every bulky water type( Swampert Suicune Gyarados Vaporeon Milotic etc.) with Grass knot, and Surf is just and great STAB move in the Rain.

Now Starmie I don't think is great on this team I think you need another pure Rain setupper so here is a Jolteon set.

Jolteon@Damp Rock
Nature:Timid
Ev's252SpA/252Spe/4Hp
Moves
Thunder
Baton Pass
Substitute
Rain Dance

So there's my two cents. Good Luck with the team.

I would take out Rain Dance on Starmie and go with:

- T-Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Rapid Spin

you already have pokemon with rain dance and you should have good type coverage attacks on Starmie.

Yea I was thinking of going to for special sweeper on Ludicolo but didn't have time to changed but thats a good point. I already have 2 Physical sweeper already I need more special sweeper. And oh yea I was thinking of going for Jolteon as well, since in Rain dance team it can attract alot of electric pokemon. With Jolteon and his bulkiness + his speed I can set up subpass easily. I might changed Jolteon for Starmie even though Starmie has nice bulkiness and changed Ludicolo for special sweeper thanks guy.

1. listed to Shiny Bagon

2. I use this Kingdra set as of right now.

Kingdra@Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Swift Swim
32Hp/224Spe/252SpA
~Hydro Pump
~Dragon Pulse
~Hp Elec
~Signal Beam

This set outruns swift swim Kingdra in and out of the rain and can OHKO with Dragon Pulse. It also stops Celebi and Gyrados from getting in the way of your sweep. Hydro Pump is for obvious STAB and OHKOs Machamp, Metagross, Zapados and other bulky sweepers after SR damage.

I have also had a lot of success with SD Ludicolo:

Ludicolo@Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Swift Swim
60Hp/252Atk/196Spe
~Swords Dance
~Waterfall
~Ice Punch
~Seed Bomb

Most people will switch in Tentacreul or Blissey as you get a free SD, +2 waterfall in the rain OHKOs blissey and +2 seed bomb OHKOs tentacreul. Even if they switch in skarmory, it is 2HKOed and Hippowdon in OHKOed, so you can sweep with your dual STABs pretty easily. So I would consider keeping the Ludicolo set that you have, although special works out very well too.

*Consider Shiny Bagon's sets as they are good too.

gl with your team.

Also, you may want to have stealth rocks in your lead somewhere, as it secures all OHKOs for your sweepers.

When you think of Jolteon "bulkyness" isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind lol.

Anyway the main problem here is that you hate Abomasnow. You have 3 attacking moves on your whole team that he doesn't resist, one of them is rapid spin so it may aswell not count. Otherwise he has plenty of time to switch in due to the abundance of moves he resists in here, and will probably outspeed every single member of your team thanks to Snow Warning, granted it's running max speed. Once he's in he can hurt you alot with his Ice/Grass STAB moves, or grant you a slow and painful death with Sub/Leech Seed. 2 of your sweepers carry life orb and are at risk from taking 22%+ every turn they attack minimum, making them even frailer than they were before. It's especially worrying for Lanturn, as once she's gone a SpecsJolt could easily rampage through your team. To deal with that, I would find a place to fit Jirachi on this team somewhere:

Jirachi @ Damp Rock
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/176 Spd/80 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rain Dance
- Wish
- U-turn
- Thunder

He makes a great transition pokemon in general, and benifits in rain dance teams since he effectivly rids himself of his fire weakness. Wish lets you re-use your sweepers when they're low on HP from LO recoil. U-turn lets you scout and is always useful in a pinch, Thunder lets him abuse the 8 turns of rain and has a sweet 60% of paralysis. As I'm suggesting him as an answer to Abomasnow, you may want to put Iron head over thunder. In that case, give him a Jolly nature and move those 80 Evs into Attack. If you can find a free moveslot, try fitting in SR as it will help your team get the KOs they need.

I would go with Apple's Kingdra set myself, since I have a thing about using Draco Meteor on a Rain Dance Kingdra (Why use a move when you're probably gonna have to switch out afterwards, wasting a turn of rain?) You're also quite Toxic Spikes weak, so just look out for that aswell.

Good Luck

Yeah Kingdra had a life orb.

Kabutops. Modest @ Choice Specs
Surf
Giga Drain
Hidden Power Flying
Earth Power
EV's:194HP/64Speed/252SpAttack.
In rain Kabutops will end up with 422 Speed and with Choice Specs his SpAttack is 375.
Needed another special attacker so I mixed him around a bit. Giga Drain for Swamperts that don't get initially switched into Kingdra. HP Flying is simpily for the coverage. I thought about HP Fighting but the main people it would be useful against tend to have a high SpDefence just a quick eg is Blissey. Either that or thier a rock pokemon in which case I think I'd just use either STAB Surf or Giga Drain.
