Hey, anyone noticed something about the future of Platinum arc in Netkun? I just noticed Platina, Dia and Pearl fight together with their Platinum outfit.

Though it's small but you still can see that they are having some 'great' fight like Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald were fighting against the Rental Pokemon.

Well then. If this is true then I wonder how and when they change, if they were sucked into the torn world like thought, and where they are fighting. This is getting intriguing to say the least.

Well I recall when Dia's mom said that Dia took some clothes when he went home before he fought Mars those must be the Platinum clothes.

Got a point. This is the longest wait for a Poke Adv. volume so far ._. hope it comes out soon...is month.

Volume 33 lookes quite interesting...but one question! One the netkun site it shows platium with mesp. uzie with dia and etc...but below that picture is plat with her plat. clothes on...so what is happening first?! The BF ..or the galatic thing going on for plat.?!

That hairdo looked too much like a turban for me to recognize that guy from the one Pokemon game I never really played. Bleh, still, it's nice to know that the DP arc is finally nearing the climax in the Galactic plot enough that we probably won't be expecting more than 2 or 3 volumes tops. Platinum I couldn't care less about (due to my disdain for both the first Battle Frontier-related arc and the game facility in general), but HGSS needs a comic adaptation, fast.

　33巻が発刊されたり、HGSS発売でポケモン熱自体が世間で盛りあがったり、うれしい話題が続く中で… つらい話題もあるわけで、う～ん。

　もうみなさんもご存知のことと思いますが、10月26日、小学館から「87年前の創業以来、刊行してきた 学習雑誌『小学五年生』と『小学六年生』を2009年度末で、休刊する」ということが発表されました(これ を書いている今日は10月27日です)。
　
　僕自身も子供のころ　当然のように学年誌を愛読していましたし、そういった雑誌でお仕事をさせていただけ る幸いをかみしめながら、今日まで学年誌に貢献(こうけん)したい一心で、「学年誌・愛」をもってまんが原 作に取り組んできたものです。

　それだけに、残念な思いでいっぱいですが、読者のみなさんにしてみたら、その後の(2010年度以降の) 連載がどうなるの？　ということのほうが重要だと思います。実際にこの『ポケSPサイト』の『とうこう広場 』にも質問を送れるフォームがあるので、26日の夕方からすでに、「連載どうなるんですか？」という質問を たくさんいただいています…。が、連載のことについては、編集さんにおまかせします。下の「編集部だより」 で、S記者が書いてくれるということです。

　割り切れない思い、悔しい思いなどは　↓でも、山本先生や編集担当のS記者がおっしゃっているので、僕は このへんで…と思うのですが、ともかく続報についてはこの サイトで今後知らせていくので、ぜひ、変わらぬ応援をお願いします。
　この制作秘話も月イチ更新で、年度終わりまでにあと３回ほど更新があるので、その中で僕の学年誌に対する 愛着とか、そのへんの思いも少しずつ語っていければと思います（次回更新へつづく…）。

Let me clear things up.

The Netkun site confirmed that next month, Grades 5 and 6 will be canceled. Kusaka and co. do not know why, but it is not because it's unpopular. (They even said that their popularity is rising rapidly by each year.) It's probably because of some economic problem.

The thing about HGSS had nothing to do with the HGSS arc, it was directed to people who have not yet purchase HGSS. Kusaka was telling people that they could get a special additional item if they buy HGSS at the Pokemon Center. He apparently was involved with it, which is quite interesting and odd since Kusaka is just a mangaka. Huh.

I was wondering about that. You'd think they'd at least tell the people whose stuff is carried in them.

Makes me wonder if Special (and the other comics carried in them) will go straight to bound volume instead of having monthly updates.

Or, we could be seeing substitute magazines, or (as crazy as it sounds), all 3 monthly chapters being serialized in one Grade? Hey, it's possible, although I don't know which of the 3 chapters being serialized (DP1, DP2, Platinum)is the one that's still remaining after this deprecation.

Maybe I'll stop being a lazy twit and go check the first page myself to see which of the three titles is going to remain after all this.

Grade 4
- Dahlia taking Platinum into the staff room
- Thorton and his 'machine' which gives numbers and percentages
- Palmer and Argenta blame Thorton for messing with the visual-phone system
- Platinum's three new team-members
- Platinum's Six
- First battle at the Factory
- Platinum's team rushing off to help Looker

Grade 5
- Pearl and Platinum locating their respective pixies
- The Masked Grunt's Pokemon keep thwarting the trio
- Chatlord and Chingling tired finally
- The trio agree that their bond will stay strong even if they give up their Dexes
- Dexes snatched and Release button hit
- The lake trio freed

Grade 6
- Gyarados and Cyrus taking in the Draco Meteor
- Cynthia realizing that Dialga and Palkia are what Cyrus is after
- The TG Commanders on the Spear Pillar
- Cyrus arrives, battered
- Seems like Jupiter is the only one not flinched by Cyrus's cold looks
- Cyrus spinning the 2 Red Chains
- Dialga and Palkia summoned

The cover, and backcover of Volume 33, and the one significant artwork change:
- Fantina's Cute TV (Skitty) in the magazines
- And her Drifblim TV (which doesn't exist in the games) in the volume version
Otherwise, not much significant artwork shifts, making a twist of two.


On the matter of the magazine cancellation, it was actually on the Yahoo news a while back. Basically, the reason behind is the sales of the magazines have not been good enough to sustain their release. The figures they quote are kind of terrible if it's true, which showed Grade 5's peak sales at 635,000 copies in 1973 and Grade 6's peak sales on the same issue at 460,000, compared with both magazines' recent sales at average 50,000 to 60,000 copies per month.

Grade 5 will see its final volume in the March issue released 03 Feb 2010, while Grade 6 will end in the combined Feb/Mar issue released on 28 Dec 09, which means both Grade 5 and 6 will have 3-month equivalent materials left. According to the same news article, Grades 1 to 4 will not be affected, albeit having their content modified to be more 'academically educational' as described.

A new magazine called the Gakumanplus will replace Grade 5 and 6 next spring, also with a more 'academically educational' aim. It is not known what will happen to all the manga series carried by these 2 grades, whether or not they will just move onto this Gakumanplus magazine. The writers themselves admit that they currently have no firm answer to this either, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the Hg/Ss arc will be in Gakumanplus. Let's hear it for jumping to conclusions! But yeah, we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks you Coronis for the extra scans and info, esp clearing up Netkun publication. I hope the DP arc can be finished before Grade 5 and 6 are dropped but if not I can wait for bound vols or perhaps another mag to pick it up.
Rex Kamex, that would be so cool if Gakumanplus saw a new HG/SS storyline so I'm gonna hope your prediction comes true!

^ I mean, I'd prefer that it came sooner, but then again, I just want to see who's going to wear the Hg/Ss clothes. But I can imagine that, if they put comics in this magazine, they might put in this brand new story arc in order to help make the first issue of the magazine special.
